Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted December 25, 2005 You know, this was a damn shame with tommorrow's Lakers-Heat game. Last year, when the Lakers came to AAA, I just barely missed out on being able to buy tickets (probably better I didn't anyways), but this year I really was looking forward to this game, and completely missed the fact this game is being played in Miami and not Los Angeles, so I didn't get tickets in time. Damn, damn shame. Either way, I like L.A.'s chances. They're playing well whether Kobe is passing the ball or not. Should be a hell of a game tommorrow, while I fully expect the Pistons to blow out San Antonio tommorrow. Maybe it's just me, but the Spurs aren't playing as well this season as they were a year ago. Considering this will be at home, this should be an easy win for Detroit. Little by little, we're also seeing a lot of the Kobe-hate die down as well. He's definitely maturing and growing into the starring role for the Lakers, something he may not have been totally ready for last year, what with the injuries and coaching changes as well. I called Mihm being a much better player this year as well, and as long as Odom and either Cook or Kwame produced, then that would make L.A. a much better team, and so far, so good, I'd say. iggymcfly 0 Report post Posted December 25, 2005 I definitely agree with the Pistons winning a blowout today. They've been playing great basketball all year, and with the team they narrowly lost to in the Finals last year coming to Detroit, you know they're going to give the game playoff-level intensity. If there was ever a lock in a regular season NBA game, I think Detroit would be it. (-6 for you gamblers out there; get it while it's hot)

Rendclaw 0 Report post Posted December 25, 2005 When last I heard, they were up by 11 with 6 minutes to play.
Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted December 25, 2005 They finished beating the Spurs by 15. Right now, Lakers and Heat have a pretty close game going on.
Guest Report post Posted December 25, 2005 I never thought I'd say this, but Chris Mihm and Kwame Brown held Shaq in check. L.A. let that one get away.
Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted December 26, 2005 Indeed. It was a pretty good game though, and I don't mind a close loss to a good, well-coached team.
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted December 26, 2005 The Lakers for the past 2 years have seemed to be able to play good and close with the Heat. It's like they could be the worst team in the league and they'd still have a shot against the Heat.
Brett Favre 0 Report post Posted December 27, 2005 Ah man. The Knicks were down by 21, and cut it to 7 when Nate hit like 3 3 pointers, along with some assistance from Crawford. Nate hit Jacque Vaughn with a hard foul, and Jefferson went after Nate like he was some kinda enforcer or some shit, and Nate had none of that, so they had to be seperated. Knicks lost at the end, but with Nate's performance and Marbury on the bench, their was a changing of guard.
mike546 0 Report post Posted December 27, 2005 Nate is fucking badass. He's already taken on Jerome James and Antonio Davis this season. But anyway, its amazing how things change so quickly. Two years ago, Marbury was gonna take the Knicks to the promise land, and bring this team to great places. Now, Isiah is basically building the team around Frye and Curry, and hopefully Nate and Lee. Marbury is just not himself with Brown coaching, and he'll definitley be out the door before Brown or Isiah.
bobobrazil1984 0 Report post Posted December 27, 2005 I just can't see that team winning when built around Marbury, and I never could.
mike546 0 Report post Posted December 27, 2005 I went to the first Marbury home game, which the Knicks lost by over 20 points. I guess it was a sign of things to come.
bobobrazil1984 0 Report post Posted December 27, 2005 the other thing that bothers me about the Knicks is that when Isiah has been putting together the roster, I never ever get a sense (and maybe i'm not paying enough attention I dunno) of what sort of team he wants to build? An up tempo team, 3 pt shooting team, half court team, hard-nosed D, fast break, etc etc. The whole point of course of having a style of play is so you can target players who fit that system as GM. One time the guys on TNT were talking about this, and they rattled off a team of middling teams and indeed I couldn't "place" a style of play on those teams, its just a bunch of players. Now, this season, finally, picking up LB seems to suggest Thomas is pushing the team towards certain style of play... except the makeup of players on the team doesn't seem to match that style of team AT ALL, and there haven't been any moves made yet to make it so. I've always felt that Isiah should have, from the start (though its too late now), made moves to make the Knicks a real run and gun up tempo type team. It might not have been a big winning team initially but it could at least bring some excitement to New York and the league and make their games fun to watch. Last year's Phoenix Suns? Thats what the Knicks shoulda been aiming for.
alfdogg 0 Report post Posted December 27, 2005 re: Jefferson/Nate I've yet to see anyone from the Nets approach someone their own size when looking for a fight. Tim Thomas was right about the lot of them.
Rendclaw 0 Report post Posted December 28, 2005 The Pistons are systematically dismantling the Raptors, as expected. Chris Bosh did a very smart thing by developing a mid-range game. Once he puts on some bulk he is really going to be dangerous, ala Karl Malone.

Once he puts on some bulk he is really going to be dangerous, ala Karl Malone. Once he gets out of toronto he's going to be really dangerous. He's going to be the most sought after free agent when he's ready to leave the raptors. Everyone is going to want him.
Rendclaw 0 Report post Posted December 29, 2005 True, but he is really gaining notice around the league... he just needs to continue his development and put on about 15-20 lbs of muscle, then look the hell out....
jwpeer 0 Report post Posted December 29, 2005 True, but he is really gaining notice around the league... he just needs to continue his development and put on about 15-20 lbs of muscle, then look the hell out.... ...And then he leaves toronto...that franchise's last chance to suceed involves them keeping Bosh and adding pieces around him, and I don't think they can do that. If Chris Bosh leaves that team and goes and becomes a true superstar on another team, it's the end for them.
bobobrazil1984 0 Report post Posted December 30, 2005 (edited) The Pistons/Heat game ended pretty much exactly like Game 7 did last year. Close game, Wade scores lots of points, then in the last 3 minutes the Pistons lock down, make great D plays, and Chauncey calmly knocks down big shots and free throws (not to mention a huge 3 by Sheed). Wade was getting many good looks throughout the game, but during his last few possessions Prince was on him like glue. The best sequence was Ben Wallace blocking Shaq on one end, passing it out, and Tayshaun going behind the back completely faking out Wade for the dunk. owning both shaq and wade in one sequence? priceless. Precious Roy 0 Report post Posted December 30, 2005 The Heat still hasn't found the right rotation. Antoine Walker is totally lost from having no time on court with Shaq to this point, Zo is so used to filling in for Shaq that he's out of the loop now, GP played great while J-Will was injured, but now he's in the 15-20 minute role off the bench, Shaq is still getting his legs under him, his season is basically starting right now....the only guy with a consistent role is D-Wade. I still favor the Pistons in the playoffs, but give the Heat some time, they'll look a lot better by the all-star break barring injury
Guest Report post Posted December 30, 2005 (edited) The only problem with the amount of good players that they have is that if one gets hurt, they have to take time to reprogram him into the rotation. It's not like in Detroit where everyone knows their role and if a players gets hurt, it's not going to take time for the guy to get adjusted when he comes back. Mr. S£im Citrus 0 Report post Posted December 30, 2005 Last season in the playoffs, I feel as though Larry Brown outcoached Stan Van Gundy. This season, although I believe that Detroit has the better team, Miami still has the two best players, and as well as Flip Saunders has done to this point, I no longer feel as though they have the coaching advantage. If it goes to a seventh game, I don't like Detroit's chances with Saunders at the helm.
Adam 0 Report post Posted December 30, 2005 With the way the Pistons are playing, it won't get to seven.

Adam 0 Report post Posted December 30, 2005 I wonder if you can put money on the amount of times ESPN will mention the Pistons gunning for the Bulls record this season? I already saw a big segment on the very topic on Sportscenter, and its December. By February, if Detroit can keep at this pace, it'll be on every night. Guest Report post Posted December 30, 2005 That's my problem with ESPN. They overhype things so much, so early into the season, before there is any indication that it could actually happen. They could pile up 7 losses over a 3-4 week period with relative ease. What about injuries? A collapse? Those things can happen.
bobobrazil1984 0 Report post Posted December 30, 2005 (edited) thats just how the dumbass media is, they need to find some angle. they cant just ignore the pistons when they're winning this much. The "70 games" thing gives them an angle. endless day after day segments of "can they win 70?" with everybody repeating their opinions... until the Pistons lose a few, and they change around. Personally, I'd be happy with 60+ and home court advantage through all the playoffs, in fact I'd rather the starters take it easy the last 5-7 games of the season get ready for the playoffs rather than try to full out gun for 70. jwpeer 0 Report post Posted December 30, 2005 Imagine how little coverage there'd be if it were the Jazz, Seattle or Milwaukee. they could go 69-2 and we wouldn't know they even had played a game yet We'd just hear about the slightly below .500 lakers and "Can Larry Brown get the Knicks above .250!!!"
