CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted May 18, 2008 You could easily tell at the halfway point of the race that Big Brown was just cozying along before he wanted to make his move at 3/4ths. I don't really know if there is a horse out there that's going to beat him but the distance of the Belmont will be the test. Apparently, there's a Japanese horse named Casino Drive that will be the second favourite at the Belmont, and he'll be a lot fresher because he didn't run in the Derby or the Preakness. Guest Desensitized Report post Posted May 20, 2008 Horse racing is getting kind of disgusting with these horses being pumped with steroids and hormones and cobra venom, not to mention breeding them to have glass ankles which give out so often. I don't have the numbers in front of me, but the number of horses that have to be killed at the conclusions of races is disturbingly high. If human athletes died at that clip from their drug abuse, it'd be unconscionable.

If human athletes died at that clip from their drug abuse, it'd be unconscionable. The big difference here is that these animals are being euthanized due to shattered legs and other injuries, not from drug abuse (excepting the case when a horse trainer shoots a hurt leg so it can run). Humans don't die from a torn ACL, and I'd wager more human athletes injure themselves to a life-changing extent than the hosses. Plus, it's a fucking horse. More glue for everyone. Ripper 0 Report post Posted May 20, 2008 So. The Suns fire a damn good coach so they can bring in Mystery guy with Nash running out of years and...oh yeah...they traded for Shaq. We also gave up 2 unprotected first round picks to the Sonics so they have Kurt Thomas who sign with the Spurs later. The Hawks are getting turned down left and right by GM candidates. Maybe because the ownership is in shambles and the Last GM wanted to fire the coach 3 times only to be told "No." Oh...yeah...and they are probably bringing back Mike Woodson, and if they don't have a GM pretty soon, Josh Smtih and Childress are going to be hitting the FA market without anyone really to negotiate with from our team. The Falcons cut all their interior defenders, meaning of course that they should take Glen Dorsey in the draft. Except they didn't. So the go into the new year with no one in particular at the interior defense....for a defense that had trouble stopping the run. They also traded Deangleo Hall (Their best defensive back), let Demario Williams walk(very tallented LB they could have had for not much money) cut Alge Crumpler (one of the best TE's in the game) and Warrick Dunn. Then they sign Matt Ryan, who they drafted instead of Dorsey, to a 70+ million dollar contract with 34+ million of it guarenteed. Those are my favorite teams. All I have to look forward to is the Phoenix Mercury and it will take a miracle for the Shock not to win the title this year in the WNBA.

Mike wanna be 0 Report post Posted May 25, 2008 Brian Vickers loses a wheel in the 600, and the wheel promptly bounces off another car's hood, across the track, across the infield, over a fence and into a section full of hilbillies on top of a shoddily-constructed scaffold that was probably taped to their RV. They proceeded to celebrate.

Damaramu 0 Report post Posted May 26, 2008 DANICA ANGRY!!! I'm not a racing fan, but the Indy 500 coverage really irritated me from ESPN. Instead of being like "Yeah Dixon wins the Indy 500" it was more like "DANICA PATRICK DOESN'T FINISH......oh yeah....some guy won." Like I said I'm not a racing fan, but it irritates me because it's just a small portion of their overall problem. They have who they will hype, and if that person loses the hype still centers around them and everything else is shuffled to the side. I saw the wheel bounce off though at the 600. That was pretty cool, the rednecks going nuts really made it. I wish it would've smashed into their RV so I could see their reaction, they probably still would've cheered and tried to keep it. Guest Smues Report post Posted May 28, 2008 Bye bye Mark ESPN removes radio host after Kennedy remark Associated Press May 28, 2008 PITTSBURGH – Pittsburgh-area sports radio host Mark Madden has been permanently taken off the air by ESPN. The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette quoted Madden as saying that he had hoped Sen. Edward Kennedy "would live long enough to be assassinated." The Massachusetts Democrat has a malignant brain tumor. Madden made the remark during his show Wednesday. The show has aired weekdays from 3 to 7 p.m. on 1250 ESPN. Madden was last heard on the air Thursday, the day before his comments appeared in the newspaper. Advertisement ESPN spokesman Josh Krulewitz said the network removed Madden from the air "pursuant to our contractual rights." Krulewitz said the comment was inappropriate and that ESPN and Madden had apologized to listeners. Madden could not be reached for comment Tuesday night. I'm mixed on this. On one hand, I like what Madden said. On the other hand, it's Mark Madden. So anything that gets him fired works for me. If the awesome ESPN sucks thread was still around I'd give ESPN a free pass on things for awhile.

fazzle 0 Report post Posted June 1, 2008 LO-freakin-L. In the College World Series regional round elimination game today, UNC-Wilmington scored ELEVEN runs in the top of the 9th to knock out Elon. Now they have about an hour to celebrate until they have to try and beat the Tar Heels twice in a row to survive. The same Tar Heels that shut them down and allowed them to just get 3 hits yesterday. *shrug* still rooting for em. Go Seahawks!
