Guest Arnold_OldSchool Report post Posted April 4, 2006 Chmura: Favre’s ‘a selfish guy’ Apparently Mark Chmura and Brett Favre are no longer friends, judging from comments the former Packers tight end made on Sunday morning on Milwaukee radio station WAUK-AM. “He’s a selfish guy,” Chmura said of Favre. “He’s a very selfish guy. And what people don’t know, I’m not going to say this to throw the guy under the bus, but this is a guy from my arrest to my acquittal never called me one time.” In May 2000, Chmura was charged with rape after a 17-year-old girl told police he sexually assaulted her at a high school post-prom party. The Packers released Chmura less than a month after he was charged. Chmura was found not guilty in February 2001. “It was disappointing,” Chmura said of not hearing from Favre. “But, you know, you find out what people are made of, what they are all about. And I’ll tell you what, the friends I have now, I wouldn’t trade them for anything.” Chmura was justing getting warmed up in his rant against Favre. Commenting on Favre’s inability to make a decision on whether to retire or return for one more season, Chmura said: “People who don’t think that it’s all about him are fooling themselves.” Chmura continued: “Where it’s hypocritical is, (Favre is) very critical of Javon Walker and, ‘He’s not a team player, you know (Walker) doesn’t care about the team.’ “Well, what’s (Favre) doing now? I mean, does he think this is the best thing possible for the team? I mean, they have one quarterback on the roster who they like ... they have to know." Chmura added: “These quotes are, ‘I am bigger than the team, I will make my decision when I want, and (Packers general manager) Ted Thompson and (coach) Mike McCarthy aren’t gonna tell me what to do.’”

Robert 0 Report post Posted April 4, 2006 Lemme see, Mark Chumura is a fucking pedophile who only got off because of being an athlete. Let's see if I had a wife and kids, and I knew a guy who was put on trial for rape, I'd wash my hands of him to. I saw the sorta crap that Chumura pulled whenever he stepped into Milwuakee. Hitting on girls younger that him (about 17 was the common age) and pretty much getting wasted and causing some shit. Sad thing was, they let him and then most of the cops paid 10 bucks for his autograph. I'm glad that the Packers cut ties with the fucking asshole.
the max 0 Report post Posted April 4, 2006 He probably "got off" because he likes 'em young. I agree with what he said though, regardless of whether he likes 'em young.
Robert 0 Report post Posted April 4, 2006 I like his comments because most of them are true about Favre. But coming from Chumura, it just seems like a bitter old man.

Vampiro69 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2006 I think the most amazing thing is that people in Wisconsin actually care about what Chumura is saying. What did he call the station while on his break from working at Chuckie Cheese?
Guest Arnold_OldSchool Report post Posted April 5, 2006 Chewie has a talk show in Milwaukee apparently. Frank Winters , Mike Flanigan and some other Packer went to his trial for 2-3 days apparently Don't Farve and Chewie share Superman tattoos?
Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted April 5, 2006 Chmura added: “These quotes are, ‘I am bigger than the team, I will make my decision when I want, and (Packers general manager) Ted Thompson and (coach) Mike McCarthy aren’t gonna tell me what to do.’” As much as I like and admire Favre, I have to agree with this. Every year this turns into a fucking circus of "is he going to retire? is he not? What's going to happen next?" Like... who the fuck cares anymore? To be honest, the stats show he can still play, even if he just came off his worst year (which was marred by ineffective playcalling but moreso to a ridiculously injury-riddled offense), but the thing that makes me upset is that guys like Elway and Marino knew that they were going to retire or not within a very short time after the season was over. Favre takes months to decide, and it makes no sense. I really don't care anymore. The word out of Green Bay is that, even if he does come back, it'll only be for just one more year, and even though I think Green Bay can and will return to postseason form a lot sooner than most people expect, I doubt they have much of any kind of shot to get to a title, so returning would be pointless for Favre. He, like I had to do recently, has to realize that they aren't quite what they used to be and they won't be for some time. Green Bay is one of the youngest teams in the league, and even having Favre around won't help them grow up any faster, it'll take some time. Don't Farve and Chewie share Superman tattoos? No, I don't think Favre has any tattoos. Chewie and Winters share the Superman tattoos.
sfaJack 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2006 The word out of Green Bay is that, even if he does come back, it'll only be for just one more year That's why I don't get what the big fuss is over this. If he's really going to be back for only one more season, then what how does it affect the Packers' draft and personnel decisions this year? To me, it's simple: if they think Aaron Rodgers can play, they don't draft/acquire a QB and either let Rodgers play this year (if Favre isn't back) or turn it over to him in 2007 (if Favre is back). If they DON'T think Rodgers is the guy to lead them in the future, then you get a QB now. If Favre is back, then the new guy sits a year and waits. If he's not back, you either let the rookie play of keep Rodgers for a year or so until the rookie is ready. Either way, Brett's stalling on his decision is absurd. LaParkaMarka 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2006 Nah, I think the situation is a little tougher than that. If Favre leaves, they have no one backing up Rodgers; presumably they would have made a run at a Joey Harrington or Josh Mccown type to push Rodgers and compete for the job. But since Favre has waffled until now, there's no vets left to pick up (unless the Pack gets Slash or some other has-been).
Lt. Al Giardello 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2006 In even bigger news(enough of this Farve drama, I'm tired of it every year, just retire already and stop playing games) Titans told McNair to leave their training facilitys. Way to treat your greatest QB in franchise history, and the same man who carried your sorry asses, playing with various injurys. If a new deal don't work out, he will likely go to Baltimore. USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2006 They can't draft a QB now because the Packers have other MORE pressing needs, and no way they should pass up on AJ Hawk. edit: Just realized that I, a Bears fan, just said for the Packers to draft a hard hitting LB who will probably be a difference maker... what the hell? tominator89 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2006 Now that Moulds is gone, is there any chance of Philly going after Javon Walker? We all know Reid loves anything Packers related and the firing of Rosenhaus may help his cause.
the pinjockey 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2006 I don't see that happening. To make it happen they would have to give up a 2nd round pick (I can't see GB trading him for anything less, in conference especially) and big money, plus due to the Gaffney signing open up a roster spot (so assume it also costs Pinky or Lewis). If they wanted him that bad and were willing to go all out for him it would have been done before the Gaffney signing.
Robert 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2006 "MERRY FREAKIN' CHRISTMAS, YOU WORTHLESS PIECE OF SH-T" Ah, Christmas. The most peaceful and serene day of the year. Not this time around. The NFL is sending the Dallas Cowboys and receiver Terrell Owens back to Philadelphia for a Christmas Day game in 2006. It's a smart move, since it ensures that there will be interest in the game, even if neither team is on the right side of .500 come late December. And we're now officially dreaming of a white Christmas in 2006, for entirely different reasons than we usually do. The combination of Philly fans and T.O. and well-packed snowballs could make for a spectacle far more intriguing than the Super Bowl. I guess the big deal about it is that obviously Favre's retirement will open up a lot of money for Green Bay to possibly make a bigger splash in the FA pool... as well as the fact that he's the last "superstar" QB leftover from a different era, so it's kind of symbolic in a way. I doubt, however, that Rodgers will get pressed for competition either by a vet or by ANOTHER first-rounder. As much as I'd love Jay Cutler in Green and Gold, the only way I could see that happening is if another top 5 team was interested in him and would trade for Rodgers and Walker, and Green Bay drafting Hawk at their #5 spot. I'd love to see that happen, but it's not going to. Titans told McNair to leave their training facilitys. Way to treat your greatest QB in franchise history, and the same man who carried your sorry asses, playing with various injurys. If a new deal don't work out, he will likely go to Baltimore. To be fair, it had to do with refusing to rework his contract, and the Titans made a good point when they said that it's a business issue with them.. why pay big money to a guy who's injury-riddled and definitely on the decline physically and probably mentally. I read an article earlier on it that explained it well. Also I kind of found it funny how it was the organization holding out on a player for once. Now that Moulds is gone, is there any chance of Philly going after Javon Walker? We all know Reid loves anything Packers related and the firing of Rosenhaus may help his cause. I don't know, but any team that trades for Walker is taking a gamble. But the only way I see the Packers trading for him would be to see if he gets valued for a mid first round to mid-second round pick since they have the 37th pick.. and it would help Green Bay to get a decent receiver or guard at one of these slots, or maybe even a guy like Maurice Drew who could make an excellent third-down back/punt returner and possibly a starter later on if Gado/Green/Davenport doesn't work out. I read an article earlier on it that explained it well. Also I kind of found it funny how it was the organization holding out on a player for once. I'm sorry but thats a bunch of crap. the guy cut years off his career playing for these guys. You want to rework his contract, fine. His agent and the team are working on that. But to ban a guy from the facilities because it isn't going as well as you liked is childish, and stupid. This is why I have no problem when guys want more money and hold out on teams, because simply put, they would shoot you in the knee and push you under a bus if it would get them under the cap. the pinjockey 0 Report post Posted April 6, 2006 The problem with McNair's treatment is that the team is the one that put him in this cap number and are now penalizing him for it. It isn't like the "multi year" free agent deals where everyone knows the final big money years will never see the light of day, so the screwing really isn't a big loss to the player. His cap number is this big because he was willing to redo his contract in previous situations to help them out, there is a big difference in those two situations IMO. Gert T 0 Report post Posted April 6, 2006 With the schedule coming out tomorrow, does it officially make me old if I am actively rooting for no home Sunday or Monday night games for the Bengals? The McNair situation is hilarious and makes the organization look petty. You signed to an absurd number. In good faith couldn't you let him workout. He is the team leader. USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted April 6, 2006 Meh the cap thing is just an excuse to get him out so that Chow can play with a new QB.
Lt. Al Giardello 0 Report post Posted April 6, 2006 If McNair leaves, it will greatly decrease the possibility of the Titans drafting Vince Young. Good for VY, if he goes to Arizona I really think Denny Green can help him adjust to the NFL, like he did Culpepper.
Guest Report post Posted April 6, 2006 Arizona's the best situation for Young, because he has a great running back, and 2 WR's that will do anything to get to the ball.
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted April 6, 2006 Titans have bad luck with getting rid of broken down vets, that were once important to the franchise.
