Current rumor floating around is that the Saints and Reggie Bush are close to terms on a 6 year contract.

It won't affect this season, so draft him no matter what.

But, saying he doesn't mind sharing carries, that does. Don't let Jacobs steal GL carries, please.

And Bush is rumored to get $55-60 over 6 years. So, nobody knows yet.

And may I just say these salaries for the rookies are ridiculous. It's insane that Vernon Davis is the highest paid TE in the league.

I think that Antonio Gates may make about as much.

However, it's still a sad state of affairs when the new TE in the league is commanding as much as a guy who's been unquestionably the best TE over the last two years.

The main positive out of this is that Vernon Davis can lord his contract over Kellen Winslow Jr.

The fact that people actually thought that Bush would be willing to sit out the entire year is hilarious in itself.

There was no chance of that happening. The only reason it was a big deal is because it is a slow time of year for news.

This is sad but hilarious at the same time:

FOXBORO - The Patriots are getting a taste of what caused the New Orleans Saints to give up on Johnathan Sullivan.

Already arrested for marijuana possession since being acquired in a trade for wide receiver Bethel Johnson in June, Sullivan isn’t off to a good start in training camp either. The defensive lineman has landed on the physically unable to perform list after failing to pass the conditioning test.

Word out of Gillette Stadium is that at least one player is on the PUP list for flunking the conditioning run, a series of sprints that differ by position. Defensive end Richard Seymour, who thus far has not practiced, did no fail his test. He is sidelined with an unspecified injury.

Sullivan, however, is a different story. According to ProFootballTalk.com, he “was on the ground and virtually in convulsions,” just a few sprints into the test. The Patriots do not allow players to practice until they pass.

If they didn't just trade their own headcase to get him (Bethel Johnson), I'd be more annoyed. But they did, so I'll just laugh at the fat bastard.

Falcons WR Brian Finneran is done for the year

Considering QB Michael Vick's choice of targets, is this any different than what his stats would be anyway?

(Finneran is good... the problem is that he only gets good numbers when Matt Schaub is QBing. Vick deosn't throw to him.)

The way Favre has thrown the last 3 seasons...

I think they got it right.

You mean pretty much the same way he'd thrown the 3 beforehand when everyone had been blowing him, and not just Madden?

Heh.

DAVIE, Fla. (AP) - When the White House called with an invitation to dine with President Bush, Dan Marino took it. But the coach of his former team said no.

Miami Dolphins coach Nick Saban said Monday that his obligations at training camp took priority over a chance to meet the president.

"It was really a tough decision," Saban said. "I feel like my first responsibility is our team. That in no way disrespects the importance of the opportunity I would have loved to have had to spend dinner with the President."

The invitation was for dinner with Bush on Sunday night at Joe's Stone Crabs, a landmark Miami Beach restaurant. Marino, a former Dolphins quarterback and an NFL Hall of Famer, did attend, Bush said in a speech Monday.

Several Dolphins players said they weren't surprised that Saban put his team ahead of the president.

"We all know Nick is serious about what we're doing here and is committed to it," defensive end Jason Taylor said.

Yeah, I read that earlier, was gonna post it here earlier but forgot. Good move on Saban's part. I have all the respect in the world for the guy as a coach.

Makes you wonder if he had any political motive behind doing so, though.
