2006 NFL Off-Season

Luckily the Seahawks can match. If they decide not to match, then they get 2 first round draft picks from the team that signs him.

Which is the main reason why I don't want the Eagles to sign him.

The Saints picking up Brees would be very interesting. Could they justify spending the #2 on Williams or Ferguson? They might be able to really, really get a lot for that spot if one of the lower top-10 teams is interested in Leinart, Cutler, or Young.

Did they up him to the franchise tag? Last I saw he was just tagged with the "transition" label, so they wouldn't give up picks if they signed him.

Texans start off the FA period with a, well, "Bang" might be an overstatement. They sign DE Anthony Weaver, QB Sage Rosenfels, and FB Jameel Cook. Also bringing in David Givens and Mike Flanagan on Sunday and hosted WR Kevin Walker and C Bob Hallen.

Weaver's OK as a 4-3 DE, but from what I've heard it sounds like they overpaid (again). Rosenfels is a backup, as is Cook. Givens won't fit in the budget, but either Flanagan or Hallen will be an upgrade at center so McKinney can move his ass over to guard where he belongs.

Some mocks have Young falling OUT of the top ten and there is no WAY I see that happening. Even if he is a risk (he's a small one with workable things), I cannot see him dropping that far.

I could only if the teams in the top ten may seem to have greater needs than quarterback, consider also that Brees and Culpepper are on the market, and may get snatched up by one of these teams, especially Brees going to New Orleans.

Whoa, I had no idea Flanagan was also a free agent. Jesus christ, that interior offensive line for Green Bay just keeps looking worse and worse now, but then again Mike is over 30.

And the Cardinals just signed Edgerrin James to a 4-year deal, per ESPNEWS. Cha-ching.

If that offensive line plays like the potential it has, the Cards better do some damage or Dennis Green might be fired. Getting Bidwell to spend big money on two players means you better win or you better pack your bags.

Sweet Christmas! Finally my team looks like it can make some noise. That is going to be a heck of a division with Shaun Alexander and Edgerrin James playing each other twice a year.

Brandon Lloyd is a Redskin now.

So is Antwan Randle El...

All Arizona has to do is make some changes on defense, and maybe sign or draft a good O-Line men. They still have alot of money to do changes.

With Seattle losing key players to their team, they got to watch out because Arizona is creeping up on them in that divison.

Actually, the Cardinals had the 8th ranked defense in the NFL last season, even though the defense was beat up. You are right about the OL, and they are starting to address that concern.

I cannot believe the Niners traded him. Alex Smith officially has no one to throw to. Talk about being thrown into the damn fire and being left to burn.

On the Eagles radio show, Spadaro was nearly about to have a meltdown due to fans calling in and complaining about the Eagles' front office being inactive in the FA period so far. High comedy...

Some Eagle fans complaining? Wow, that's a shocker. Must be a day that ends in Y.

Maybe they haven't learned that signing for the sake of signing isn't what wins you the title in the NFL.

The word on Lloyd was he was pretty much hated in the locker room. Of course who would be happy playing for the 49ers now? The rumor was they were gonna push strong for Randal El but whoops he goes the same place as Lloyd. Now they might go after Antonio Bryant but he's another guy who hasn't exactly made himself popular among teammates and coaches in the past.

To be fair though, with all the new money flying around you are going to have to overpay to get people and they do have some holes to fill.

Granted 6yrs/$31 w/ $10SB for Randle-El is completely insane, but it does mean they might have to increase their given "value" for a player to get a Moulds or Givens done (which IMO is absolutely necessary, one of those two is needed now). Or maybe where a Ryan Pickett was worth 3-4 mil before, now you might have to pay 5 mil to get it done.

They might actually HAVE to overpay people for the sake of it to get over the salary floor, so it might as well be for someone who can help while they're available.

Bashing them for Bentley is stupid, bashing them for "gawd worst offseason ever" two days in is retarded, but bringing up the problems about an inflexible philosophy isn't invalid IMO.

Yeah at this point, what really good receivers are out there on the market for the Packers to replace Javon Walker with? Moulds is getting on in years and Givens, I'm not too sure about being a #1 receiver. Now, it's going to be even tougher to sign because of market value and all that.

Packers and a few other teams should really look at the draft cause it is littered with steals at WR.

7 years/31 mil for randel el? its funny because the closest offer he got to that was 6 years/18 mil from the bears. the guy only caught 30+ passes last year. for a gimmicky player, thats a fat paycheque. winning the superbowl got him nearly 10 million mroe than he deserves. kudos. problem is the skins problem lied more with the guy throwing the passes than the ones catching them. adding to receivers while having a qb who throws for 60 yds/game is nonsensical.

Chad Jackson is gonna be a great NFL WR.

I was actually hoping the Bears would pick up Randle El. They need a big play threat so incredibly bad.

Does anyone have a complete wrap-up of the NFL off season this far including draft picks and trades.

Ravens resigned Jamal Lewis for 3 years, no idea about the money. Just saw it on NFL Network as a breaking news thing.. I suppose them signing Mike Anderson to a 4 year deal was to replace Chester Taylor instead of all the speculation that Anderson would replace Jamal. I guess I like that move because if Jamal sucks again next year they have Anderson who's a proven starter to step in. As much as I liked Chester Taylor, I dont think he'll ever be a full time starting RB.

Im interested to see what kind of money he got in light of James' contract yesterday.
