SpikeFayeJettEdBebop 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2006 Yeah. I really hope they get a deal worked out, and not just for the sake of the Redskins at this point. The league will be entirely different without a cap in 07. I wouldn't like that at all....
sfaJack 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2006 Why the big cuts? Is it because of the labor talks breaking down? The Washington Redskins in particular are going to be gutted over this. I am loving the reports that they might have to run 20 rookies out there next year. As am I. The Redskins deserve it!
the pinjockey 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2006 Just to further mock the Redskins. From an ESPN.com article: What happens if a team doesn't comply with the salary cap? No team has ever gone over the salary cap, so this is a bit of an unknown. Could Commissioner Paul Tagliabue penalize a team by taking away draft picks? Or fines? With some teams in dire cap shape, we could find out sooner rather than later. The Washington Redskins are one team to watch in this regard, since some other clubs which have studied the Redskins' cap closely have suggested Washington cannot mathematically get into compliance. Lt. Al Giardello 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2006 Eagles have good caps-space, hopefully we can fill our needs through the free agency and draft. Draft Chad Greenway!
therealworldschampion 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2006 I wouldn't mind the Eagles making a run at Mike Anderson. I know he was in the Denver system, but he's a power back that can play both RB and FB.

sfaJack 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2006 The Broncos might have traded for Abraham. Not sure about the exact details, or if it's officially done yet. I hope it's for both their 1st round picks. I hope they did. I'm sick of the stupid Texans fans here that are popping up sports radio and insisting that the Jets would trade the fourth pick, Abraham, and their first rounder next year for the right to move up three whole spots so they can pick Leinart. How do they deserve it? Because they've spent recklessly for years, making poor decision after poor decision with no regard for the cap. I can't stand Dan Snyder either. Also because it's a crime they made it to the second round this year with no offense to speak of. And it's the Redskins. As a Cowboys fan, anything that makes them worse is fine by me. As an NFC East rival (I like the Giants, I'm guessing he's a Cowboys fan) any team in our division deserves misfortune. That Daniel Snyder guy's a douche too, so it's twice as much fun to see them sweat at this point.

Lt. Al Giardello 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2006 I wouldn't mind the Eagles making a run at Mike Anderson. I know he was in the Denver system, but he's a power back that can play both RB and FB. I doubt he would want to go to a team that will primarly use him as a third and short runningback. There are much more needs at this point then another RB. We should get a WR, and make a run at Steven Hutchinson or a C to replace Hank Fraley.
Dangerous A 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2006 The Redskins are ready for no CBA (or at least fronting like they are) .... With no extension, the cap is significantly lower than most teams had expected with an extension. For example, the projected salary cap with an extension would likely have been between $100-110 million. Also, with no extension, 2007 becomes an uncapped year. What does this mean for the Redskins? As head coach Joe Gibbs said last Saturday from the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis, the Redskins mapped out a number of scenarios based on whether the CBA was extended or not. Team officials are well-prepared for a scenario in which the CBA is not extended. Vice president of football operations Vinny Cerrato said last week that, with no CBA extension in place, the Redskins would likely put more focus on acquiring players in the draft than in free agency. "If there is a Collective Bargaining Agreement, we can answer a lot of our questions in free agency," Cerrato said on Feb. 23. "If there's not a Collective Bargaining Agreement, which we should know hopefully in the next few days, then we'll be doing most of our [player acquisitions] in the draft." The Redskins have been working diligently over the last few days to renegotiate contracts with several veteran players. That would help the team get under the $94.5 million salary cap. Quarterback Mark Brunell agreed to terms of a restructured contract earlier this week.
the pinjockey 0 Report post Posted March 3, 2006 Looks like as soon as FA opens up LeCharles Bentley will be an Eagle. link If this comes to fruition I'll be a very happy camper. Fraley was solid for a couple years, but with the emergence of the 3-4 defenses he was just way overmatched. Jamaal Jackson looked decent in his short run, but let's not kid anyone here you don't pass up a Bentley for him.

therealworldschampion 0 Report post Posted March 4, 2006 Great news with the Bentley signing. 27 years old and an All-Pro. It's also the end of an era in Philly as CSN reported that Koy Detmer along with Mike McMahon will be released, and Jeff Garcia will be the new backup. Make your own jokes about the apparent shot at Terrell Owens by the team signing his least favorite QBs.

Urban Warfare 0 Report post Posted March 6, 2006 Sorry if this has been posted, just saw this: SEATTLE (AP) -- NFL Most Valuable Player Shaun Alexander has agreed to a $62 million, eight-year contract to remain with the Seattle Seahawks, his agent said Sunday night. Jim Steiner said the deal is the richest ever for an NFL running back and will net the league's leading rusher over $15.1 million in guaranteed cash. Steiner told The Associated Press in a telephone interview, minutes after the NFL pushed back the start of the free-agent signing period 72 hours to Thursday. "They definitely wanted to do this," Steiner said of the Seahawks bringing back Alexander, who set an NFL record with 28 touchdowns last season. "And Seattle was Shaun's first choice all along." the pinjockey 0 Report post Posted March 6, 2006 At this point I eagerly await Wed. night when they push back FA another three days. It is apparent that the owners do not want to go on without an new deal, so just cave in already and let teams worry about offseason matters and the draft. Lt. Al Giardello 0 Report post Posted March 6, 2006 Hey, I am a Cardinals fan. I don't like Dennis Green and I was making a bad joke. You'll start liking Denny Green once he gets the offense working. All you need is a rushing attack and your set. He's going turn the Cardinals into a contender like he did with the Vikings.

Failed Bridge 0 Report post Posted March 9, 2006 Pats cut McGinest due to the $8.3mill cap hit he would be. Hopefully they bring him back at a reduced price. former Jets C Kevin Mawae wants to play for the Patriots. Its in the Boston Herald. Pats don't need him since they have Dan Koppen, unless of course Mawae is willing to move to the gurd position.
