Lord of The Curry Posted January 27, 2006 Report Posted January 27, 2006 Educated guess? Thesis? Shot in the dark? Magic 8 Ball reply?
razazteca Posted January 27, 2006 Report Posted January 27, 2006 CM Punk is a Pepsi mark, and apparently Vince is looking more for wrestlers who like coke right now. Wasn't Edge & Christian Pepsi marks back in the Foley as Commish days?

randomguy Posted January 27, 2006 Report Posted January 27, 2006 Maybe they just think the guy isn't so good? Does it have to be they are "scared" of him? If it's more than a theory, explain how.

Ravenbomb Posted January 27, 2006 Report Posted January 27, 2006 Maybe they just think the guy isn't so good? Does it have to be they are "scared" of him? If it's more than a theory, explain how. My second cousin's roomate's brother's boyfriend worked catering for a WWE show, and he overheard HHH and HBK talking, and HHH said all discreet like "Man, I'm fucking terrified of CM Punk, we better hold him down"
Guest Princess Leena Posted January 27, 2006 Report Posted January 27, 2006 I'd be all for a live sex session with him and Maria. Then, job him.
Rob Anybody Posted January 27, 2006 Report Posted January 27, 2006 I was going to ask what the original post was, but I get the feeling I'd be more informed if I didn't know what it said.

If it's more than a theory, explain how. or maybe it's just catty bitching. seriously, why not? women do it all the time. Maybe HHH and HBK happened by a monitor one day, saw Punk was pretty good, resented it and said "Well, he'll never get over with that style, he's not main event material", y'know, just being snotty. hell, it's a well known fact HBK is (or at least was) a huge diva in his day, it's not unthinkable he was just being jealous of an up-and-comer while he himself is in the twilight of his career. just saying. it's possible.
Lord of The Curry Posted January 27, 2006 Report Posted January 27, 2006 I'd be all for a live sex session with him and Maria. Then, job him. The only way that could come off perfectly is if we had ROH fanboys in the background doing duelling chants for what position they'd want to see. "Doggystyle!" *Clap clap clap clap clap* "Re-verse cowgirl" *Clap clap clap clap clap*

Lord of The Curry Posted January 27, 2006 Report Posted January 27, 2006 Funk brings it. "Anal cream-pie!" *Clap clap clap clap clap* "Angry dragon!" *Clap clap clap clap clap*
The Ghost of bps21 Posted January 27, 2006 Report Posted January 27, 2006 My entire thought on CM Punk in WWE comes from a Samoa Joe interview about 3 months ago. Joe said he chose not to go to WWE because he knew they were only wanting to sign him to keep him out of TNA...and that they'd never let what he did get over. The host of the show said "Just ask CM Punk". Joe (being a close friend to Punk) answered: "Well.........yeah."
nl5xsk1 Posted January 27, 2006 Report Posted January 27, 2006 While I don't doubt that there is some legitimacy to it, I must admit that I find the "Hunter and Shawn view him as a threat" to be an IWC exaggeration. The guy's not going to walk in and immediately be immensely over, regardless of how great he was in ROH or in the indies ... maybe if/when he got to the Jeff Hardy level of over he'd be a threat, and those with political clout would view him as a threat and make moves to keep him down. But as an unknown, faceless entity to most of the fanbase, he's not much more of a threat than a TSM poster.
cabbageboy Posted January 27, 2006 Report Posted January 27, 2006 Honestly, from seeing Punk's OVW work with Brent Albright this criticism of Punk "just seeming like he's imitating wrestlers rather than working" is more credible than you think. A lot of guys on OVW are like this though, just incorporating the 3 Amigos suplexes from Eddie, the Benoit or Angle German suplexes, that sort of thing. While I enjoy these matches on OVW a part of me can't help but realize it's just riffing on guys they see on TV every week.
Dark Age Posted January 27, 2006 Report Posted January 27, 2006 Because Benoit and Angle are the only guys who use the rolling germans.
2GOLD Posted January 27, 2006 Report Posted January 27, 2006 Where IS Maria anyway? Ever since she started dating Punk, she hasn't been on RAW much if at all. I'm more concerned with the chance of them holding down Maria than Punk. Punk out of the E means he's back on the indies for a price I can afford. Maria out of the E...who the fuck knows where she goes.
Bruce Blank Posted January 27, 2006 Report Posted January 27, 2006 It's more than a theory.Because YOU say it's more or because you can like... you know... back it up with something other than guesses and stuff pulled from anal cavities of those that think CM Punk should be both WWE and World champion already

Dangerous A Posted January 27, 2006 Report Posted January 27, 2006 From what I gather of the HHH/HBK-CM Punk stuff... Punk was doing a dark match before Raw. He got little to no reaction. He also worked and did stuff that he usually does on Indies and ROH. When he got to the back HBK, HHH, and Michael Hayes told him that he wasn't working and that his match looked like he was imitating a wrestling match instead of just having a wrestling match. The thing is, no one knows how they approached Punk. Tone means everything. Perhaps they came to him in more of an advisory/give you a tip for the future tone. Maybe they brow beat him to knock him down a peg since Punk did have a rep as an internet darling. Recently, it's come out that Stephanie has nicknamed him "King of the Indies" and while I don't know the tone she calls him that in, I'm banking this is more insulting than complimentary. HHH and HBK are probrably not wrong in their assessment. Punk doesn't have much of any experience playing in front of a crowd of more than 1,000 people much less 5-8,000 people at a live Raw show. However, Punk wasn't going to get much of a reaction anyway because 95% of their audience has never heard of CM Punk and aren't going to give him much of a chance coming out cold with no intro or background. I've been to a ton of shows and opening match who haven't been on tv have the shittiest job in wrestling because they get the brunt of the "Boring" chants and that is mostly because no one knows who they are, so why invest any of your time in them? That said, his style isn't going to be very applicable in WWE land. Just simple fact. He has to narrow down his moveset to ones that he can execute crisply just about everytime. In ROH/Indie land, he has carte blanche to do whatever he wants in the ring. HHH and HBK probrably took this chance to both educate Punk that this isn't going to fly here and at the same time humble him since he did have a bit of a rep coming in.
Vyce Posted January 27, 2006 Report Posted January 27, 2006 I'd be all for a live sex session with him and Maria. Then, job him. Well, his photobucket (or whatever he has) already got leaked. Here's hoping that there's a Maria / Punk sex tape out there that will get leaked too. In the surrounding controversy, Maria becomes a big star and Punk gets fired. It works out for everyone.
