Bonnaroo 2006

Recommended Posts

For what it's worth...Conor Oberst is a pretty good live performer. And, out of the hundreds of bands Ive seen, hes the only guy Ive seen smash his guitar onstage (while drinking PBR no less). Fun times.

Conversely, at Ohio Deathfest last year, re: the atrocious concessions, the vocalist from Circle of Dead Children said "This song goes out to $3.50 cans of PBR. What the fuck."

Vendors suck. At a fest like Bonnaroo at least there are plenty of unlicensed folks selling good stuff for cheap...but almost any other show, in most any venue, is just ridiculous.

Other shitty examples - Tall can of Coors Light (flavored water) at the Gorge - 8$ (they do have free water though). Cup of ice water at the Rave/Eagles Ballroom in Milwaukee - 4$. Fucking uncool.

Bonnaroo though you can find a 5 pound turkey leg for 5 dollars (or, as Agent mentioned earlier, a fair trade). And water, even inside the Centeroo gates, is free.

Umphreys McGee and Disco Biscuits have been added. Presumably at least one (and possibly both) will have late-night sets.

They had an all-night electronic music stage when I went, and more drugs than you could ingest in a lifetime.

It's be so weird to bump into nappy-haired Kotz at Bonnaroo.

I'm gonna bother him too. Keep tapping him on the shoulder, and as he leaves to return to his tent, rape him behind Shakedown with a popcicle.

There should be a TSM meeting a Bonnaroo. Everyone meet at the tiki hut between the cinema tent and the what tent at 9 p.m. on Thursday night.

If Ultimo Dugas is reading this, meet us at one of the portajohns during Radiohead's set. If we arent there, don't worry, we'll find you. Just sit there until Radiohead is done playing. Trust meee.

Eh, it was pie-in-the-sky thinking. I doubt I'll go, 'specially since I want to be able to go to the PPV they're having up in Greenville around the same time.

: PRESERVATION HALL JAZZ BAND ::

We are deeply honored to welcome to this year's festival, direct from the heart of New Orleans, the Preservation Hall Jazz Band. For three days and nights (Thursday, Friday, Saturday) this legendary American institution will recreate our beloved New Orleans with their glorious sounds and styles. Holding court in the Preservation Hall Tent the PHJB will present an array of uniquely New Orleans acts such as Bones, Clint Maedgen, Noise Parade, the New Orleans Bingo! Show, and Liquidrone.

Celebrating the 45th anniversary of the Preservation Hall these musicians (many second generation descendents of the original members) carry on the traditions of the birthplace of Jazz.

Radiohead's US 'tour' is only playing a few small venues and tickets will sell out in minutes (already have for some). The soldout shows are up on ebay now at over $100 per ticket...really makes Roo look like a good deal.

We are proud to announce a very special late night performance. Dr. John will resurrect his Night Tripper persona for the first time in over three decades for his performance at Bonnaroo. Dr. John is universally celebrated as the living embodiment of the rich musical heritage exclusive to New Orleans. In the '60s, he developed the charismatic persona of Dr. John The Night Tripper. Adorned with voodoo charms and regalia, a legend was born with his breakthrough 1968 album Gris-gris, which established his unique blend of voodoo mysticism, funk, rhythm & blues, psychedelic rock, and Creole roots. The Night Tripper phase of Dr. John's career, featuring his unique fusion of Mardi Gras jubilation and spiritual mysticism marked, altered and broadened the scope of popular music forever.

This special performance will be part of a New Orleans themed event that will also include Ivan Neville's Dumpstaphunk which features an all-star cast of some of the city's finest musicians. The Rebirth Brass Band will also join in, lending their celebratory brass band sound to what will be an unforgettable night.

-bonnaroo e-mailing.

Sonic Reducer - Pawn something...sell plasma...garage sale...

It sounds like Stevie Nicks might be singing a few songs with Tom Petty as well.
