Guest Arnold_OldSchool Posted February 2, 2006 Report Posted February 2, 2006 I am now under the belief that a Punisher/Casey Jones type gimmick could be very effective. The person wouldn't be there to wrestle week in and week out, only to watch the actions of others, and when things got out of hand , step in and try to kick ass. A particularly heinous act can serve as a catlyst for a feud. The closest I can remember anyone being to this gimmick was Sting's Crow gimmick vs the NWO when he'd swoop in to make the save, and actually be effective at it. After enough time, we can even have The Punisher become to hardened by the sins of others and "go to far" in dishing out justice, turning a babyface aganist him, and making the Punisher a heel. Any thoughts? Maybe my brains just fried from a 12 hour marathon of Mid South, World Class, AWA, Georgia, WWF and NWA watching.
hyperchord24 Posted February 2, 2006 Report Posted February 2, 2006 The Acolytes were first booked this way
CanadianGuitarist Posted February 2, 2006 Report Posted February 2, 2006 Acolyte Protection Agency = Underrated.
Angelus Posted February 2, 2006 Report Posted February 2, 2006 The Undertaker could play this role perfectly ... In EWR i used to book him like this ( Nerd Powa ! ). In fact it was more a crossover between the Punisher and the old Batman character from Frank Miller's Batman.
haws bah gawd Posted February 2, 2006 Report Posted February 2, 2006 Wasn't Matt Hary's "Angelic Diablo" gimmick supposed to be a take on the Punisher?
Black Lushus Posted February 2, 2006 Report Posted February 2, 2006 yeah, but no one's scared of Matt Hardy....guys like UT and even Sting are intimidating enough to pull it off.
The Tino Standard Posted February 2, 2006 Report Posted February 2, 2006 Undertaker is perfect for this role for several reasons: - It gives him an excuse to not be on TV all the time. He's already working a part-time schedule as it is. But with this gimmick, there would be a reason he's coming back each time. - He's been around longer than just about anybody in the company, and he has been referred to as "the conscience of the WWE" on multiple occassions. Get some new guy to play this role, and he'd lack the gravitas. - Undertaker is already a dark and spooky character. This is just a progression of an established persona.
Ravenbomb Posted February 2, 2006 Report Posted February 2, 2006 Someone should hire 911 and give him this gimmick
Guest Arnold_OldSchool Posted February 3, 2006 Report Posted February 3, 2006 911 was exposed for being avg height in WCW. Big Al ---- Tombstone---- squashed by Giant in Philly God Bless WCW
gwf0704 Posted February 9, 2006 Report Posted February 9, 2006 911 was exposed for being avg height in WCW. Big Al ---- Tombstone---- squashed by Giant in Philly God Bless WCW Undertaker was already called The Punisher as one of his early gimmicks in World Class Championship Wrestling.
