JN News 0 Report post Posted February 4, 2006 I am so getting that Brian Pillman DVD. I'd personally like to hear what guys like HHH & HBK would have to say about Pillman. Like maybe if he had survived his health situation, and survived, maybe he could've been able to work with Hunter. Or, then again, maybe not. But, I'm still getting that Pillman DVD, and I can't wait to see how he's remembered.

reign 0 Report post Posted February 4, 2006 Definitely an awesome list, and I'll be getting a few of them. I'm shocked that they're making a Pillman DVD... we haven't even gotten a Kurt Angle set yet. They must be saving something for the Angle DVD Yeah...Vince wants him to die in the ring...then release the DVD...that's why he put the belt on him... On the Pillman DVD I would love to see the Fall Brawl match Pillman had versus Johnny B. Badd. It is a great match that has kind of been forgotten.
Guest Timmer Report post Posted February 4, 2006 I'll be picking up all of them (well, maybe not the Cena DVD), as usual. From WWE.com: http://www.wwe.com/inside/news/2006dvds WWE has announced a list of upcoming DVDs to look for on store shelves in the coming months. In addition to the upcoming pay-per-view DVDs, the list includes: *Austin vs. McMahon: The Definitive Collection *Brian Pillman: Loose Cannon *Hulk Hogan: The Ultimate Anthology *Born to Controversy: The Roddy Piper Story *The Spectacular Legacy of the AWA *John Cena: The Time is Now *The World's Greatest Wrestling Managers *The American Dream: The Dusty Rhodes Story (2-disc) *ECW Blood Sport: The Most Violent Matches (comes out in a few days) *WWE Divas Do New York *ECW Blood Sport: The Most Violent Matches -- Volume II -The ones in bold are the most recently added DVDs. I'll get the ECW,AWA, and Roddy for sure. The Pillman DVD kinda surprises me I'll pass on the Hogan and Dusty ones. I never cared for either one of them... SuperJerk 0 Report post Posted February 4, 2006 If the blurring of the WWF scratch logo bothers you, the Austin-McMahon DVD will be your own personal hell. And why is there a Hogan anthology coming out? Didn't they just do a multiple-disc Hogan compilation like 2 years ago? Yeah, but it was released right before WWF had to switch to WWE, so it was kind of fucked and couldn't sell it as long. You're wrong. It came out after the name switch. WWE Divas Do New York Yeah...that's not a misleading title.

This comment has already been explained and defended twice by two people (myself and S_D) but hey, why not a 3rd time? The DVD came out a mere 3-4 months after the switch to WWE. As such, they were allowed to release videos that didn't blur logos (this woud effect Hogan's 2002 return) or mute the intials "WWF" (this effects everything else). By 2003, just 4 months after the DVDs release, everything had to be blurred and muted.
JimmyHendricks 0 Report post Posted February 4, 2006 Why do we need an Austin vs. McMahon "anthology"? The old VHS had a great documentary on it that was only recently eclipsed by the ECW one. The Hogan anthology is a must buy, especially if it's "Hulkamania" I-VI. One of them (the second one I think) is entirely about his feud with Andre, and in between matches, Hulk is interviewed in a boat out on some lake. I've always remembered that for some reason. I still want a second Flair set, a Rock set and a Kurt Angle release. Why they haven't released anything for him since the "It's True It's True" video is beyond me. A second Benoit set wouldn't hurt, either. Neither would a second Shawn set.
Scroby 0 Report post Posted February 4, 2006 Neither would a second Shawn set. There's been a second set, I don't think we need a third already.

You have to figure they will recycle the matches from the first dvd and add a couple other matches (including the WM match, his match with Benoit, the JBL rematch that got alot of inital praise, the Jericho match). Plug in a couple of his videos as extras, some of his promotional stuff, a trailer for the movie. There's your dvd.

Yeah, but it was released right before WWF had to switch to WWE, so it was kind of fucked and couldn't sell it as long. I don't think so. Watch the DVD. None of the logos are blurred and all mentions of "WWF" are still in there, so they only had 6 months to be able to distribute it. Well, shut my mouth. I stand corrected. Anyway, anybody want to take a stab at how they'd address Miss Elizabeth and her life after wrestling on the managers DVD?

haVoc 0 Report post Posted February 4, 2006 It would be funny if Austin was still on bad terms with Vince and they pulled a Warrior on him. Vince can claim he carried the feud and only reason Austin was popular was because people really wanted to see him get his ass kicked. Vince and DX (Hunter and Shawn) can claim they were the reason the WWF was successful and Austin just rode the wave.

Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted February 5, 2006 The John Cena set. The more I think of this, the more it annoys me. What, exactly, has he done since his last DVD that they can even put on a second one? The title win that's already on the Mania DVD? Music from his oh, so successful CD? The family BBQ video? Well, the first DVD ended with Christmas in Iraq. So I'm guessing its going to follow his United States Championship run up until late in his WWE Championship run at say SSeries 05. I just hope some of the extra matches are the Parking Lot Brawl with Eddie and he had a match with the Undertaker on the final SD before GAB 04 that I really enjoyed since it was face / face. Well, the first DVD ended with Christmas in Iraq. So I'm guessing its going to follow his United States Championship run up until late in his WWE Championship run at say SSeries 05. And again. What has he done in that time period that is worthy of an entirely new DVD. His slew of ** matches? The latest version of the same exact promo? Maybe its just a way to unload that God forsaken album as some kind of "bonus" I don't see a reason for the casual, non die hard Cena fan to buy this because lets face it, there has never been a John Cena match that people say "Well, I really need to own that so I can watch it repeatedly!" And even the die hard fans, not enough has happened or changed since the last DVD to warrant a new one. The matches they'd care enough to watch, the US title win and the WWE title win, are on the Mania DVDs which you have to assume they'd already own. And hell, even if you want to put that on anyway, is that enough material to create a new DVD? I just can't justify this when we still have nothing of note on Angle, nothing of note on Jericho, no Four Horseman DVD, have barely scratched the surface of Flair, or hell, The Rock.
