This week in the NBA

Recommended Posts

I had read at one point that the only two untouchables on the Knicks were Curry and Frye. But since then, I've heard Frye mentioned in trade rumors as much as anyone on the Knicks.

Rumours, because he's the one guy that other GMs really want and always ask about. Give Thomas some credit, he's not about to trade a potential all-star for a guy who's had two broken legs and is ravaged by nagging injuries.

Personally, as a Knicks fan, I'd love a Marbury-Francis backcourt, it has amazing potential. Don't know how well it would work, but I'd love it. If those two could get on the same page they'd be almost unstopable. Two strong, physical combo guards, they share the duty of handling the ball, Marbury is more of a pure point, Francis is more of a pure scorer, but in the right situation either one can excell in either role. Having both of them out there together could make it really difficult on defenses, and really easy for those two to pick their spots, or it could be a total clusterfuck. It would all depend on the chemistry between them.

But from the Orlando standpoint, I figure they'd ask for something like Frye and Lee to start, and I doubt they'd be very keen on taking on Crawford or Q-Rich. They definitely don't want Marbury nor is there any benefit for NY in swapping him for Francis, so I doubt anything comes out of this talk

They might as well trade Lee seeing as Larry Brown is trying his best to shoot the kids confidence to shit. Larry Brown is a fucking idiot honestly, and to stand in the media and say that a rookie player that goes out and plays EXTREMELY hard everytime he touches the court will never be a starter in the league because of his game is plain fucking retarded and will kill his confidence, just like him constantly saying Darko wasn't very good was killing his confidence.

For reference, what is the Clippers best record ever?

I assume they're on pace to pass it easily this year, but I'd still like to know.

1975 49-33 2nd, Atlantic Division.

They won 46 in '75, 45 in '92, 43 in '79, 42 in '74, and 41 in '93. Those are the only 6 seasons they've been at .500 or better since 1971. I knew the Clips sucked, but I didn't know it was quite THAT bad.

If the previous GM was still in Orlando, that deal would have been done yesterday. God was he an idiot...

A backcourt of Marbury and Francis would officially be the nail the Knicks' coffin. Neither one is going to defer to the other on the court, and the other three guys with them might as well be window dressing. They are both undersized shooting guards and have attitude problems, and that's just the way it is. Though I might be intrigued to see if Jamal Crawford could actually help the Magic, and I have never been sold on Q, I think the Magic should just wait until the offseason to try and deal Francis. They have quite a few holes to plug in in order to build around Dwight Howard, but those holes have been there for quite some time. They do need to model themselves around the Pistons. They even have an advantage, because Dwight is a rising star in the league.

I've seen Marbury night in and out, and he'll easily defer to players to make the team better. Problem is, he can't do it night in and out because no one on the team right now is as good as him.

Also, it seems like Isiah is dead serious about keeping Frye. It turns out he rejected a deal of Frye and filler for Lamar Odom.

I don't know where you heard about that, but I severely doubt it. If Buss wouldn't trade Odom for Artest, why would Kupchak make an offer for Frye?

Ehh. At least it was part of a larger package, and the Knicks decided not to take the bigger contract. Good for them.

I'm like 80/20 on this actually. Odom is the type of all-around player we need, and he's still pretty young. The contract sucks, but if the Lakers would take some of our garbage contracts back (don't know if they would), like Jerome James, Q Rich, Malik, a combo of any of those, I'd consider it; maybe. I'd hate to give up Frye, but Odom is nice. If Odom is available, i'd try to trade for him without giving up Frye, if possible. Anything on the Knicks interest you other than Frye? Draft picks?

The Lakers would have wanted Penny so that they could sign more FA's. They're going to sign quite a few during the upcoming offseason.

And Odom's going to be shopped around the trade deadline, I think.

Do you mean they are going to sign more FA's because Odom will be gone? Cause the Lakers are way over the cap and it won't get much better with Odom and Kobe's contracts balooning every year from here on out.

Buss has his own cap because he hates paying so much on the luxury tax, and if Odom were to be traded for an expiring contract, 12.3 million would be off the books for this summer. I don't know what the cap's set at now, but I *believe* the Lakers can get under it if they so desired.

They had better get under it, cause they're in deep shit.
