Art Sandusky Posted February 11, 2006 Report Posted February 11, 2006 Man, fuck the Olympic haters. Brainwashed sheep.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted February 11, 2006 Report Posted February 11, 2006 I like everything where people shoot down a tube of ice at dangerous speeds. Curling amazes me, too. If LSD was a sport, it'd be Curling.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted February 11, 2006 Report Posted February 11, 2006 Speaking of cold weather sports, I was watching this sports atrocity show the other day, and they showed footage of this dumb fucker trying to ski down this enormous mountain. Dude slipped, and tumbled end over end for more than an entire minute, bouncing off of rocks and crags of ice. It was fuckin' FAR, too. Several hundred feet, doing somersaults and cartwheels down an icy slope before coming to rest on his gourd among a heap of stones. Ouch.
Fökai Posted February 11, 2006 Report Posted February 11, 2006 Honestly is there anyone on this board besides the cunt Princes Leena who cares about any other winter olympic sport besides hockey? Alpine Skiing Biathlon Bobsleigh Cross-country Skiing Curling Figure Skating Freestyle Skiing Ice Hockey Luge Nordic Combined Short Track Speed Skating Skeleton Ski Jumping Snowboard Speed Skating I'm intrigued by all of the events, 'cept for figure skating. Curling is fucking great to watch, as is the trio of bobsled, luge and skeleton.
Kahran Ramsus Posted February 11, 2006 Report Posted February 11, 2006 Figure Skating is the only thing I don't like in the Winter Games too.
Kahran Ramsus Posted February 11, 2006 Report Posted February 11, 2006 Jenn Heil advanced in first place, so she will go last for the finals. Could be Canada's first medal of the Games.
Guest Brian Posted February 11, 2006 Report Posted February 11, 2006 I'll watch hockey, curling, and any of the races. Which now that I think of it, is everything but figure skating.
Guest Posted February 11, 2006 Report Posted February 11, 2006 I'm ready for the Downhill final tomorrow.
Kahran Ramsus Posted February 11, 2006 Report Posted February 11, 2006 Jenn Heil advanced in first place, so she will go last for the finals. Could be Canada's first medal of the Games. And it ends up being glittering Gold no less.
bob_barron Posted February 11, 2006 Report Posted February 11, 2006 Wow, so far I'm doing pretty well on my predictions
2GOLD Posted February 11, 2006 Report Posted February 11, 2006 I liked watching the Women's Ice Hockey today and they cut to the crowd to show the fans enjoyment. Only one person was actually watching the game, some guy was looking at his watch, another was napping, one looked like he wanted to hang himself with his USA flag and tons of empty seats. I felt bad for the ladies after that. Talk about an enjoyment killer.
Lord of The Curry Posted February 11, 2006 Report Posted February 11, 2006 As I type this out ladies are laying a serious beatdown on the Eye-Tals in womens hockey. I think it's a foregone conclusion that Canada vs USA is going to be for the gold this year again.
naiwf Posted February 11, 2006 Report Posted February 11, 2006 To be fair though, the USA game wasn't very close in terms of level of competition even though they didn't start to blow the Swiss out until the 3rd period. Wendell had some highly impressive moves though.
treble Posted February 11, 2006 Report Posted February 11, 2006 There's not really much need for a tournament in Women's hockey as Canada and the States are the only 2 teams that are any good at this point. I mean, the Italians have 15 year-olds on their team, what's the point of them playing one of the big teams when they're just going to get their asses kicked. It's 3-0 already for Canada barely 4 minutes in.
MarvinisaLunatic Posted February 11, 2006 Report Posted February 11, 2006 Nordic Combined.. Lets combine ski jumping and a cross country..odd paring. I like the ski jumping though.
razazteca Posted February 11, 2006 Report Posted February 11, 2006 I like everything where people shoot down a tube of ice at dangerous speeds. Curling amazes me, too. If LSD was a sport, it'd be Curling. Ahhhh yes the shuffle board on ice with brooms sport.
CanadianGuitarist Posted February 11, 2006 Report Posted February 11, 2006 54- 5 were the shots in the Canada-Italy women's game. 54-5! 16-0 the final.
bob_barron Posted February 12, 2006 Report Posted February 12, 2006 Curling is fucking great to watch, No
Kahran Ramsus Posted February 12, 2006 Report Posted February 12, 2006 One day in and Norway & Germany are already on top of the medal count. Norway has four medals in four events (although one was a double). Sure didn't take them long this year to get started.
Hogan Made Wrestling Posted February 12, 2006 Report Posted February 12, 2006 Women's hockey is such a joke of a sport, they really should just eliminate it to save us the embarassment. What does it tell you about the quality level of this "sport" when the supposedly great teams Canada and the USA lose exhibition games to high school boys teams? Oh, and the Chinese pairs team doing their short program to Led Zeppelin's "Kashmir" makes them my favorite athletes of the winter games so far.
Red Baron Posted February 12, 2006 Report Posted February 12, 2006 Curling is fucking great to watch, No Curling > Hockey. There I fucking said it.
Red Baron Posted February 12, 2006 Report Posted February 12, 2006 Luge/Skeleton/Bobsleigh are also awesome to watch, and I like downhill skiing as well. Is Ringette a sport?
CanadianGuitarist Posted February 12, 2006 Report Posted February 12, 2006 Curling is fucking great to watch, No Curling > Hockey. There I fucking said it.
2GOLD Posted February 12, 2006 Report Posted February 12, 2006 Curling is fucking great to watch, No Curling > Hockey. There I fucking said it. I'll make it a triple. Curling is awesome. And I'd rather see the Bobsledding start to finish instead of that "watch four sleds then cut away to a stupid story". That pissed me off so much the last Olympics.
The Robfather Posted February 12, 2006 Report Posted February 12, 2006 Michelle Kwan Pulls Out of the Olympics TURIN, Italy - Michelle Kwan dropped out of the Turin Games on Sunday morning because of a groin injury, bringing her decade-long quest for gold to a humbling end. --- The U.S. Olympic Committee asked to replace Kwan with Emily Hughes, the third-place finisher at last month's national championships and younger sister of 2002 Olympic champion Sarah Hughes. A response was expected later this week, and Hughes was to travel to Turin shortly.
Hawk 34 Posted February 12, 2006 Report Posted February 12, 2006 At least she dropped out early enough so that Hughes had proper time to prepare.
2GOLD Posted February 12, 2006 Report Posted February 12, 2006 There went my interest in the figure skating. The Kwan quest was the only interesting thing coming into this for me. Well that and hoping Bode Miller finishes like 10 or worst in every event. But he won't, he'll probably win shit.
Kahran Ramsus Posted February 12, 2006 Report Posted February 12, 2006 He did dick in the Downhill so you are partway there.
Slayer Posted February 12, 2006 Report Posted February 12, 2006 Why the hell is Bode Miller so unpopular? I hope it doesn't just stem from his "Sometimes I ski wasted" remarks "OMG HE'S THE ANTICHRIST!"
