Masked Man of Mystery 0 Report post Posted February 13, 2006 I got the DVD on Saturday, there were a ton of them at the Best Buy I work at. I watched the whole thing now other than the extra Public Enemy vs Gangstas match, it's pretty good. The only really bad match there is the Taipei Death match, but that's more about blood than match quality anyhow. The best match is probably the Rey/Psycosis match. I'm pretty happy with it. what'sinteresting is they seemed to want to minimize the WWE feel to it by not putting the logo on anything like they have everything else. It's a nice touch. I'm all for more ECW and WCW stuff being released since I didn't get to watch them until they were dead other than couple of Nitros I saw in Spanish.
2GOLD 0 Report post Posted February 13, 2006 I won't be getting it since ECW themselves already released almost every single match on the DVD. I got them all when ECW released them and right now, I'm honestly not interested in giving the WWE one dollar of my cash. If they were going to release a ECW dvd, they should have released matches that weren't already done. This was laziness.
pochorenella 0 Report post Posted February 13, 2006 I bought in on Best Buy on the day of release for $16.99, which I think is a pretty sweet price. I haven't seen it yet but hopefully will soon. It'd be nice to read reviews/opinions for the set from the guys here in the meantime.
MillenniumMan831 0 Report post Posted February 13, 2006 I got it from wweshop.com. It comes with a white ECW t-shirt. I consider it buying a t-shirt and getting a 2-disc ECW set for free.
Epic Reine 0 Report post Posted February 13, 2006 2Gold: Lazyness, or just showcasing a dead product to many fans who might not otherwise have seen it? And in most places, those old ECW DVDs are nowhere to be seen, so many people have never gotten them. There is due out another ECW Bloodsports, so expect "different" matches on that one then. 2GOLD 0 Report post Posted February 13, 2006 Lot of the matches were lazy when ECW released them. Some of the ECW matches listed should have been once and never again because they just weren't any good. WWE has the whole library at their disposal and unlike when ECW was with Pioneer, completely controls what can and can't go on the DVD. So what did they do? Put the same matches ECW put out. Hopefully the second one takes advantage of the ECW library and isn't just a rehash.

cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted February 13, 2006 I'll tell you one match that I'm not sure fits the Bloodsport motif of the DVD but I like it: RVD vs. Lynn from a Sept. 99 TNN show. That is the one where Lynn had the broken ribs. I personally think this is their best match.

That is the one where Lynn had the broken ribs. I personally think this is their best match. I think the Lynn vs Corino match where Lynn writes "DIE" on Corino's chest in blood is kinda fucked. But if you are going to do a DVD called Bloodsport, why not? Plus they could have picked a better Tanaka vs Awesome match. They have had tons better matches between the two. cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted February 13, 2006 Lynn/Corino wasn't a terribly amazing match however aside from the bizarre DIE spot. I'd put another "Corino gets his ass beat" match: Tajiri/Corino from HH 2000. Blood on the camera! 2Gold, what Tanaka/Awesome would you put on there? I'd put the New Year's Eve 1999 TNN match with Awesome regaining the title. How can you top the inverted sitdown powerbomb from the top rope?
MillenniumMan831 0 Report post Posted February 13, 2006 Tajiri vs. Corino from Hardcore Heaven definitely would have been perfect for this set. Even as a face, Tajiri was such a dick mocking how Corino was losing seemingly pints of blood. Speaking of awesomeness from Tajiri, the match against Justin Credible from TNN where he just kicks the shit out of Francine just to be a bastard was awesome. And I'm not one that particularly enjoys watching man-on-woman violence but that was an excemption.
nl5xsk1 0 Report post Posted February 13, 2006 Luckily, Francine's only borderline a woman, so it's not that bad.
Aero 0 Report post Posted February 13, 2006 I only remembered it this past weekend, so I went looking for it at Suncoast and FYE since I was at the mall anyway. Neither had it, so I was actually wondering whether it came out yet. I'll buy it eventually.
2GOLD 0 Report post Posted February 13, 2006 Instead of Sandman vs Rhino from TNN, I think the one where Rhino just piledrives Sandman's wife was a better match. The ending wasn't that great but overall it was a very good match. It's not like you are going to get a big time match out of Sandman anyway. Storm vs Dreamer from Hardcore Heaven 99 (I think), also known as the night Tommy "breaks" his back, was a match I would have added just for the hell of it. I felt like it was a very underrated brawl. And yes, Tanaka vs Awesome with the top rope sitout powerbomb was a great match. About 20 times better than the One night stand match. Corino WAS a stuck pig that year. Fuck, he bled buckets in every PPV match. That Hardcore Heaven match was just fucking cold, with the tree of woe kick that made the blood splatter on the camera. His hair went completely red, it was fucked. But this is just going from memory. They have the whole ECW library at their disposal. I'm hoping they use it for maybe some individual DVDs for guys like Taz (fuck you E), Dreamer and the like. I'd buy a Tommy Dreamer DVD just for some of the Dreamer-Raven matches. Corey_Lazarus 0 Report post Posted February 13, 2006 A DVD chronicling the entire Dreamer/Raven feud would be amazing. Maybe 2-disc with all of the interactions between the two (all of the matches against each other, and the clips of the matches of each other's that they interfered in, plus all of the promo's) spread out in chronological order. It'd be impossible for the E to get Raven's perspective on any of it since he's with TNA, but it'd still be great.

I actually liked the Taipei deathmatch. Not anything technologically great but it's worked very well for what it was and it's not too long. I thought the Rey/Psycosis match was pretty bad. It's mostly the fault of the Mexican deathmatch rules but they could've worked it differently and made it more enjoyable. The match on the Rise&Fall dvd is much better. I've only watched about half the matches so far and found the Douglas/Foley vs. Sandman/Funk to be the most fun.Bit of a clusterfuck but still alot of fun. I would love for volume three of bloodsport to be a 2 disc edition covering ECW's five biggest storylines. Loaded with every important storyline development, highlights of matches (offer the most important matches as bonus extras) and the involved parties covering it. Getting the thoughts of Meanie, Steven, Beulah and Kimona would be more than enough to make up for the lack of Raven's thoughts though. I mean, it sucks you can't hear from Raven but god damn would that be an amazing DVD. Hell, you could do one of the Sandman-Raven feud and it would just as awesome. That twist with Sandman's son joining Raven was fucking awesome. Shit, did Raven have a bad feud during his best run with ECW?

Whatever room they have left over on it, they could show other RVD TV title defenses.
