cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted February 16, 2006 Chaosrage, I have NEVER ever seen that RVD/Sabu time limit draw from Hardcore TV in 1999. During that time period my local station was having some problems with Heyman or something and thus they showed repeats a lot, so I missed that episode. I also remember this Hardcore TV episode from Aug. 98 where RVD faced Lynn (maybe the first match?) and survived somehow, even with a piece of broken table damn near costing him an eye. Then Van Dam had to come back and face the Dudleys in the main event of the show in essentially a handicapped match (Sabu was hurt but showed up for the last 2 mins)....and won that match too! The reason I say that the RVD/Lynn match from Sept. 99 TNN should be more known is that it's a much more razor sharp match than stuff like the Hardcore Heaven 99 match. Lynn's broken ribs lend a purpose to a lot of RVD's moves that target the rib area to begin with. Besides, the heat for that one was insane. The only regret there is that I think Lynn should have won the TV title there, then they could have moved RVD to the world title instead of doing the whole Mike Awesome debacle. CBright7831 0 Report post Posted February 19, 2006 ECW World Championship Match Guilty as Charged - 09/01/00 Mike Awesome vs. Spike Dudley I've always had a soft spot for this match. I knew Spike had no chance in hell of winning this match, but it was still an enjoyable match. I'm glad they finally put it on DVD.
Robert 0 Report post Posted February 20, 2006 I'm glad I picked this one up, watching Spike/Awesome and it is just a brutal match. Some funny lines in the match: Awesome just jumped from the ropes and to the outside. Styles: Most men 6'6 and 300 pounds don't even leave their feet! Cyrus: Brother Awesome reversed a Acid Drop and threw Dudley to the outside and through a table. Cyrus: Oh my jesus. God do I miss those two in the booth. pochorenella 0 Report post Posted February 22, 2006 Finally got to watch the DVD after having it on my desk since I bought it on release day. I have to say I was pretty pleased with it, even if I'm not what you'd call an ECW loyalist. I've had more than casual exposure to ECW thru a couple of their original DVDs and some tape trading, and even if I already own a few of the featured matches from said DVDs or trades the only match that I wondered about its inclusion was the ONS Awesome vs Tanaka match, beign that it was so recent and I'm sure most fans already own it. But now I understand its inclusion, as they wanted to make the statement that ECW was still alive and well. I think the featured matches did deliver on the premise of being some of the most violent in ECW. Maybe there were some selections missing from what I've heard but with the announcement of a vol.2 coming out this year that should be rectified. Hopefully they'll include another of the famed Awesome vs Tanaka series, as I've only seen one of their PPV encounters where Awesome retained the Title. Again, I don't foresee anybody being disappointed with the match selection. And I was surprised to see people like the Dudleys so prominently featured after severing all ties with WWE. Thumbs up on ECW Blood Sport.

In the future though, I would like to see a DVD going through the hisotry of several of ECW's greatest fueds, and include some of the great "pay off" matches. I would like to see more of that. Especially Raven & Richards vs. The Pitbull's in a Double Dog Collar Match, as well as Dreamer vs. Raven in the cage, and there's so much more from Public Enemy. I guess that's not that important to wwe.

JustJoe2k5 0 Report post Posted February 27, 2006 I don't understand all the hype around the double dog collar match. People call it the greatest match in ECW history, but it wasn't that impressive to me. Definitely not as good as the stuff they put on from '98-'00.
Corey_Lazarus 0 Report post Posted February 27, 2006 I think it's something about how multiple storylines intertwined into one match (something that happened often in ECW, however) and how the brawling was decent. It's a pretty good brawl, but it's nothing special like people say it was. Must've been one of those "you had to be there" moments.
Guest Flockmember37 Report post Posted February 27, 2006 So the Double Dog Collar Match wasn't the GREATEST THING EVER but still. I would have liked it on the dvd alongside more Raven. Oh and more of the Eliminator's too.
cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted February 27, 2006 Did Raven really have that many great actual matches in ECW though? He was involved in some brilliant storylines but which of his matches would you include? I might toss in Raven/Cactus vs. Dreamer/Funk from N2R 95. How about another DVD with some Benoit on it, or more Eddie/Malenko stuff that isn't as well known as the farewell match?

Well, those matches usually wouldn't fit the "violence" sentiment it was going for. (Which would sell more to the ecw die-hards, then a "ECW: QUALITY WRESTLING" dvd. That wouldn't be a 2-disc edition, however.
