Rey Mysterio comments on use of Eddie Guerrero in storylines

Recommended Posts

Rey Mysterio was interviewed by Kevin Eck for the Baltimore Sun to promote this Sunday's No Way Out PPV in Baltimore, Maryland. When Eck asked his thoughts on Eddie being an integral part of the storyline between him and Randy Orton and Orton saying stuff like "Eddie's in Hell," this was Rey's response:

It's hard to hear what has to be said from Randy. Eddie Guerrero had such an impact on the fans, on the company, on the [wrestlers]. He was loved by everybody. But I think the most important thing is that his wife has a lot of say in this. If she's comfortable with all of this being done ... she knew Eddie very well, and I think Eddie would want this to continue as long as it could. I think he's up in heaven, and he's enjoying every single moment.

What do you think, guys and gals of TSM? Are these Rey's true feelings or is it just the company line?

If Rey voiced his true feelings, he'd likely be fucked. He's just doing his job. That's my take on it, and probably is the view of most other posters here.

Bullshit. If he had principles he would've refused to do the angle based off of it's sheer distaste and retardedness in the first place.

Rey was cool with messing with his own son's mental well being for a push. I don't think anything he says in character or out of it is relevant after that decision.

People will compromise their principles if their job and paycheck are on the line.

Then they can never claim to have principles.

I'm sure his son understood it was an imaginary storyline, and wasn't messed with at all.

Rey's right, if Eddie's WIFE doesn't mind, what gives any of us the right to? I'm sure you'd all like to think you knew Eddie better than his family, but you didn't.

Speaking of which, I do remember reading from Meltzer that Dominik was getting increasingly more uncomfortable with the angle as it went on.

Mommy will just buy him a PS3 when she sells Eddie's skull on WWE auction.

Yeah, that pretty much nails it.

I'd be very surprised if anyone here interacted with Eddie for more than 5 minutes of thier lives. No one here knows what Eddie wanted or would be offended by. Quit thinking that you do. If you personally don't like the angle, that's fine. But don't use your "knowledge" of what Eddie, Rey, or anybody else "really thinks" as justification. You don't know those guys thoughts better than they do.

I think the angle is stupid and could've been done differently, but if they're fine with it, so be it.

Eddie had a big part in that angle though. So if Eddie doesn't mind exploiting his "nephew", he won't mind having himself exploited? Maybe that's their logic behind saying "This is what Eddie would have wanted".

You know, I might not be in any position to say this but if this is true and Vicky Guerrero did have a big say in the angle going all the way back to the SmackDown! special, just two weeks after Eddie's death... then she's fucked up. The last thing on her mind should have been wrestling angles at that point.

Does anyone really think she's gonna tell Vince to go fuck himself when he's her major (sole?) source of potential income for the time being now that Eddie's dead?

OMG I'm so offended I think I'll continue watching and discussing it!

Seriously... his wife is taking part in the angle... she's the only person with any right to be offended and she isn't.

To say that she would compromise her principles because Vince is paying her is downright ridiculous.

I think we're all forgetting (in light of this latest newsbit) how fucked up in the head wrestlers are, as well as how fucked up the whole business is. If you take all the knowledge of depravity and bullshit about professional wrestling that you, the reader, have in your head, does this really sound implausible?

LOL @ people who think Vicki is being forced to do this with the threat of poverty.

Exactly. And if the Guerrero's house is really the one it's rumored to be in Scottsdale... the family definitely isn't hurting for cash.
