Carlito Getting Into The MITB match?

Recommended Posts

On RAW I was kinda shocked that Carlito lost his match against Ric Flair seeing as how he was the one bringing up and hyping up the match. I figured he'd lose the match at WM.

So do you think Carlito is going to get into the match? I having a feeling he will either he get a rematch from Flair with his shot on the line or Carlito will con his way into it some other way.

I still think they'll go with Flair vs Carlito at SNME. Otherwise, they really made him look like a giant fool and might have done damage.

Carlito will find a loophole and get another qualifying match next week and win. There's still 3 spots open and other than Masters, I can't see who else besides Carlito that can get in.

This has stopped them before?

No, but I'd like to think they did it for someone useful and not for Ric "For christ sake put on a shirt" Flair.

Nice to see people are coming around to my way of thinking:

For some reason I don't think Flair will stay in the MITB. Carlito will probably get the spot from Flair via a SNME match or a Raw match.

Masters, Carlito, and the return of JEFF HARDY, for the finally spots.

Too bad, Jeff is under a pesky thing called a contract with TNA.

Speaking of popular spot monkeys, Matt Hardy is supposedly going to be involved as a part of smackdown's part of this match but that was just speculation. Considering, that Smackdown is out of mid-carders to plug into this match (unless you want Regal and Burchill involved).

Carlito/Masters is set up against Kane/TBS for the winning team getting two spots in the MITB match (while there is a logic flaw there, it doesn't matter for WWE). 3MW, return, take out TBS/Kane and Carlito/Masters advance. This sets up 3MW Vs Kane/TBS.

Charlie Haas is returning on 3/6 and You'd have to assume he'll get paired up with Benjamin as either his "friend" or to feud with. Put Haas over Venis, and he gets the sixth spot.

Flair isn't being taken out of the WM card, he needs a big payday and MITB gives him something.

I thought it would be another 5 man match, but I guess they have other plans for Show/Kane and Masters/Carlito. It sucks that Carlito is getting the Jericho treatment

They should have 3 Raw guys in the match and 3 Smackdown guys in the match.

Tell me, who on Smackdown is even worth a spot in the match that is designed to get you a world title shot? Matt Hardy is JTTS, who can only bump.

Everyone else for Smackdown is used.

Is there any chance whatsoever that they'll have the MITB winner challenge the winner of HHH/Cena immediately after the main event?

That way we don't have to watch someone carry around the briefcase for months and months again.

Considering that this year's card is shaping up to be pretty lackluster, that would at least provide something memorable and unexpected.

Especially if Flair ends up winning, this would make total sense. He's an old man, he doesn't want to waste any more time and he's never gotten to finish off Wrestlemania. So he cashes it in immediately.

And HHH probably wouldn't mind jobbing to Flair as long as he gets to destroy Cena. You know HHH would just get the Title back again a few weeks later. This way, come summertime he'd be working on reign #12 instead of #11. It bumps up his total one more.

It's essentially WM 9. Underwhelming Title match where the face will lose the belt but then the new champ immediately drops it to a washed-up legend to send the crowd home happy in some sort of attempt to create a "classic WM moment." Except this time there would be an actual storyline behind it.

Of course HHH could just put himself over the challenger too, so he gets to win two Title matches to end the show. Either way.

Is it realistic that they might consider something like this, or not?

Too close to Edge's outcome

The only way that would happen is if Flair wins the MITB match, carries the breifcase around for months and months to the point were folks forget what the case is for, cheats on his best friend with his slutty girlfriend, gets him fired, then rehired and then have a shitty feud.

I was a little disappointed to see Carlito lose since Carlito/Shelton/RVD ladder match would end up being the best match of the card...

However, some people before speculated that RVD would win a MITB bank and end up challenging the champ at ECW's next ppv...

Word. Carlito is not in Jericho's class, at least not yet. But Carlito is like Jericho in being a versatile guy in the ring who can also work the hell out of a mic and steal most backstage scenes. I can see him taking Jericho's old spot as upper-card jobber used to make his inferiors look good. (Until recently, I'd say that he had Christian's old spot in the mid-card). I wonder if he'd ever consider leaving for TNA once his developmental deal runs out?

People kind of anticipate bumps in a match involving ladders. Hardy should be there but he won't be. I would also like to see some SD guys in the MITB match, it doesn't have to be exclusive to Raw and that title. My picks would be Matt Hardy, Chris Benoit and Super Crazy. Yeah, I know, Super Crazy, WTF. I just thought it would be cool.

I still like Hawk 34's idea of Booker being in the match but refusing to wrestle in and commentate until everybody is seemingly out for good, and Book runs in and almost gets the briefcase before all the other guys knock him down and kick his ass.

I actually think now they will just keep Carlito out of the match. He and Masters can always go after Big Show and Kane for the tag titles at WM. Neither really NEEDS to be in the MITB as long as they win the tag belts from the invincible Show/Kane.

As far as the rumors go, I heard it was 3 Raw and 3 SD and that the 3 from SD would be Matt Hardy, Finlay, and Bobby Lashley. It sounds bizarre since those SD guys seemingly have no remote shot compared to a really solid Raw lineup.

Too close to Edge's outcome

Yeah, I know it's pretty similar but there are enough differences to make it work.

First off, the dynamic is reversed, in that it's a feel good ending because the good guy is the one doing the challenging.

Also, he'd be challenging a guy that had just won the title and had been champ for two minutes as opposed to the guy who had been champ for almost a year.

And the fact that he cashes in right away means there wouldn't be months of build up like there was with Edge. The only alternative to not doing this and not repeating what was done with Edge would be the guy cashing it in ahead of time for a big Raw or PPV. Which is fine. But that's how everything is built up. It wouldn't make the MITB stipulation seem very unique.

Personally, I didn't even want to see another MITB in the first place. I think it was a good idea last year, but I really don't want to see it become a regular thing. The only reason the above secnario popped into my head in the first place is because I'd want to see them get it out of the way as soon as possible instead of dragging it out forever. The first time around was fine, but we really don't need to see it again.

The only guy in the MITB that can do anything with it is RVD, I've said that numerous times on here. No one would buy Carlito winning that match since he's jobbed left and right and has no credibility. Do we really need a 57 year old Flair winning a MITB title shot? We've already seen HHH beat him to a pulp several times, and Flair/Cena would make no sense. No one else really has enough notoriety to warrant serious consideration.

Van Dam at least can do some spectacular things in the match and get over with this style of match. Also, him winning it fits in with the current storyline that he was THIS close to main eventing WM but now wants another shot. Also, he'd have a perfect time to cash it in at One Night Stand.

Alright, then the Booker T idea is pretty funny and would work for me. I agree who whoever said this match is RVD's to win though. Cashing in at One Night Stand and forcing HHH to work in front of what should be an ECW-smart crowd would be pretty good, assuming they actually let RVD go over at the PPV.

As it was already stated, going this route would probably not work because it was just done at NYR. However, if the Cena-HHH match goes on last at WM, that might be a tip-off that something screwy is going to happen to close out the show. Think about the match order at the Royal Rumble, where the Rumble was put in the midcard for the sole purpose allowing the Undertaker to blow up the ring with lightning.

Not so much. I mean, RVD is the obvious favorite, but if you had RVD/Flair/Shelton/Lashley/Hardy/Finlay or even replace Flair with Carlito, I'd put Lashley as the number 2 choice to win. He's more likely than Flair, Carlito or Shelton at this point and yes, more than the other two Smackdown, but it'd make for an entertaining, most likely brutal match.

If Flair does keep his place in the match. I think he'll drag the whole thing down. Don't get me wrong, he's a great worker, but MITB is a very physical, fast-paced match and somewhat of a spotfest. I just don't think Flair will be able to keep up.

Prove me wrong Flair!

I REALLY hope Carlito replaces him though!
