Guest Princess Leena Posted March 16, 2006 Report Posted March 16, 2006 Also, I don't think it's been mentioned here yet... let's give some love to the mid-majors. For those who said the MVC teams wouldn't win games in the Big East... well, you're wrong.

teke184 Posted March 16, 2006 Report Posted March 16, 2006 I've only missed 2 so far... Seton Hall vs. Witchita State and Marquette vs. Alabama. That's left me short a Sweet 16 team because I had Seton Hall beating Tennessee. Considering that I don't think a lot of people will have Witchita State over Tennessee, I don't figure it'll hurt me too much.

Hawk 34 Posted March 17, 2006 Report Posted March 17, 2006 I am glad that Iona and Iowa aren't playing at the same time.
jwpeer Posted March 17, 2006 Report Posted March 17, 2006 I am glad that Iona and Iowa aren't playing at the same time. Hah. Someone let me know if something important happens in Zags v. Xavier. For some reason cbs online thinks my local game is THAT, even though my local game is UNC-Wilm and GW.
fazzle Posted March 17, 2006 Report Posted March 17, 2006 UNCW is just getting killed so far by the long ball. Only a 2 point game, but...damn, they need to stop them.
iggymcfly Posted March 17, 2006 Report Posted March 17, 2006 Xavier's not looking very sharp on the offensive end. They just kind of pass it around aimlessly until the shot clock runs down and then they jack something up. I'm starting to think that they weren't such a good upset pick after all.
KingPK Posted March 17, 2006 Report Posted March 17, 2006 I'm sticking with BC/Pacific at this point. I think it had more drama and the lead changed a few times down the stretch. Marquette was trailing the whole time I was watching. It was the greatest game in Boston sports history if you listen to the BC radio guy Ted Sarandis. You know, even though BC should have won easily but they blew a big lead and had to go to 2 OTs to finally win.
iggymcfly Posted March 17, 2006 Report Posted March 17, 2006 Well, despite the fact that they're shooting about 20% from the field, Xavier's got a four point lead on Gonzaga. I knew that prick Morrison would fold when March started.
iggymcfly Posted March 17, 2006 Report Posted March 17, 2006 Fuck Gonzaga. Musketeers are up 9. And who called it? I called it. Because I'm a GODDAMN GENIUS!
C Dubya 04 Posted March 17, 2006 Report Posted March 17, 2006 So, I have a different game on my High Def cbs than on my regular cbs. Kind of nice. Oh, and Gonzaga sucks.
naiwf Posted March 17, 2006 Report Posted March 17, 2006 Everyone should know by now, never trust the "powerhouse" Zags come tourney time.
Damaramu Posted March 17, 2006 Report Posted March 17, 2006 My bracket(unlike you nutcases i only filled out one) I have Xavier taking Zaga down. Fuck it's my local game so I can't watch it at work. UCLA is laying a nice hide tanning on Belmont though.
CanadianChris Posted March 17, 2006 Report Posted March 17, 2006 I love how everyone can call a four-point game after sixteen minutes. This isn't an election...CBS isn't declaring Xavier the winner based on first-half polling.

This isn't an election...CBS isn't declaring Xavier the winner based on first-half polling. Indeed. Especially with the Zags who have been coming back and won a lot of lucky close games at the end of the season. My bracket(unlike you nutcases i only filled out one) It's not because we're nuts. It's because we want the cash.
Hawk 34 Posted March 17, 2006 Report Posted March 17, 2006 Fuck Gonzaga. Musketeers are up 9. And who called it? I called it. Because I'm a GODDAMN GENIUS! You, and 1/2 the country who collectively agreed that X would pull their usual upset antics. In fact, I "called" it, roughly 30 seconds after the bracket was revealed. Besides it's the first half and it's only a 3 point game. Far from over.
naiwf Posted March 17, 2006 Report Posted March 17, 2006 The Zags have no heart. They were a cute novelty act years ago who duped the country into thinking they're national title contenders based on word of mouth and playing in a really dreadful conference on the West Coast. You know 90% of the guys on the East Coast who vote just look to see if Gonzaga won and then rank them accordingly which is why they've been highly ranked for a few years now. Inevitably though, the Selection Committee slaps them back to reality with a "lower than expected seed" shortly before they gag in the tourney.

iggymcfly Posted March 17, 2006 Report Posted March 17, 2006 I think it actually helped Gonzaga a lot when they still had Pepperdine in their league. The Waves were a legitimate tourney time year-in, year-out, and the competition made Gonzaga tougher. Now, the Zags go three months without playing anyone and then they wonder why they can't win in March.
naiwf Posted March 17, 2006 Report Posted March 17, 2006 Hasn't that happened the last 3 years? Pretty much. The worst thing that happened to Gonzaga was they went from a legit perennial Cinderella type program that was underrated, to a bogus contender who is now amongst the most consistently overrated in the nation. When you don't play a decent team from the last round of preseason tourneys until R1 of the NCAA you can't be the 3rd (was that their high mark this year?) or so best team in the land.
Guest Princess Leena Posted March 17, 2006 Report Posted March 17, 2006 Pepperdine is still in the West Coast. They just suck now.
Hawk 34 Posted March 17, 2006 Report Posted March 17, 2006 Ok, what is going on here with LSU/Iona? I foolishly picked LSU to reach E8 in a couple pools. I'm not comfortable, with this.
CanadianChris Posted March 17, 2006 Report Posted March 17, 2006 That hook shot by the UNCW center is sick. They can't possibly keep shooting like this, can they?
Guest Princess Leena Posted March 17, 2006 Report Posted March 17, 2006 UNCW is burning to start the 2nd half. 10 point lead.
CanadianChris Posted March 17, 2006 Report Posted March 17, 2006 Pepperdine is still in the West Coast. They just suck now. I think he meant "in their league" talent-wise.
Hawk 34 Posted March 17, 2006 Report Posted March 17, 2006 I remember, after learning of the #8 seed for GW and potential 2nd round match that people were going "DUKE IS GONNA LOSE TO GW! THEY CANT BEAT GW!". Yo, GW is sucking.

theintensifier Posted March 17, 2006 Report Posted March 17, 2006 All this hate for the Zags is sad, considering I have them winning the whole tournament :/ So....yeah....maybe it was a bad call ? I've already missed four; Oklahoma, Seton Hall, Nevada, Marquette. Damn, it sucks not being able to keep up on sports anymore, fucking military.

The people who thought GW could pull off the upset (myself included) assumed he'd be back and playing well.
