therealworldschampion 0 Report post Posted March 21, 2006 Going to be interesting to see which players for which schools can step up. Pressure is definitely on Miami and Michigan this year to bounce back (moreso for Miami, Coker needs an ACC title at least to stay afloat.) Ohio State is the favorite for the Fiesta Bowl if the replacements for the losses on defense can step up. Texas will be an interesting case, the team looks pretty good outside of losing Vince Young. West Virginia has huge expectations going into this year, can they play like they played last year with no expectations or will it be a repeat of 2004? How's USC going to respond with the losses of Leinart and Bush? Some are predicting a fall similar to Miami's in 2003 after they lost to OSU in 2002. Got into Florida State for next year, so if I end up going there, you know I'll probably be part of the "Jeff Bowden is the Anti-Christ" club.
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted March 21, 2006 Yes I have to be at the first OU spring practice today(it's my beat) so it should be fun. I don't really like spring practice though b/c you don't have the team you had last season and you don't have the team you'll have next season. It's like a half-team. Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted March 21, 2006 Well at least you know you'll have Bomar! EDIT: ... or is he? 2 U. Oklahoma athletes face drug, alcohol charges By Grant Slater, Oklahoma Daily March 20, 2006 (U-WIRE) NORMAN, Okla. -- Two University of Oklahoma standout athletes, quarterback Rhett Bomar and guard Terrell Everett, were cited in unrelated incidents the first weekend of spring break. Bomar was cited March 10 for minor in possession of alcohol. Everett was cited March 11 for possession of marijuana. Norman Police Sgt. Marcus Savage responded to a call March 11 from security guards at University Commons Apartments, 1111 Oak Tree Ave. Security guards smelled marijuana coming from an apartment, according to police records. Norman police officers arrived at the apartment shortly before midnight and contacted Everett, who said he had been smoking marijuana but did not have any left. He provided officers with a burnt marijuana cigarette, the citation states. Savage entered the apartment with Everett's permission and "observed a portion of a compressed block of marijuana" on top of the television, according to Savage's description of the incident. Police issued the citation for possession of marijuana, took the remaining marijuana into custody and released Everett, the citation states. Earlier in the day, Nebraska eliminated OU from the Big 12 Conference Tournament in Dallas. Everett led OU with 14 points in the loss. Everett played six days later in OU's first-round loss to the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in the NCAA Tournament in Jacksonville, Fla., where he led OU with 21 points. Norman police officers arrested Everett and former OU guard Drew Lavender in April 2005 for possession of marijuana and public intoxication. The charges were dropped later that week due to lack of evidence. Calls to the OU Athletic Department and Kenny Mossman, associate athletic director for communications, were not answered last week. Bomar, 20, was cited March 10 in Oklahoma City for minor in possession of alcohol at the New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets basketball game at the Ford Center, according to The Associated Press. Bomar was cited in September for the same offense, when officers responding to a party complaint said Bomar was holding a mixed drink. The charge was dismissed in January owing to "insufficient evidence," Norman City Attorney Rick Knighton said. Oklahoma City Police Sgt. J.F. Balderrama said he spotted Bomar pouring beer provided by others into a white cup and taking sips of it. Bomar was taken into custody and transported to the police station, where he posted a bond and was released, Balderrama said. Bomar pleaded not guilty to the misdemeanor charge, and a municipal court arraignment date was set for 8 a.m. on May 15, according to a clerk at the Oklahoma City Municipal Court. Mossman told The Associated Press that OU head coach Bob Stoops is aware of the incident and that it will be handled internally. OU spring football practice begins Sunday. Crazy kids and their spring breaking.
Guest Report post Posted March 21, 2006 Hershel Dennis is most likely going to be starting at RB for SC. It's cool that they can fall back on a guy that started when the took the AP national title. Herbstreit has USC at #2. I don't know what to think about that.
Urban Warfare 0 Report post Posted March 22, 2006 Can't wait for this season to start -- I'm going to Florida's spring game at the Swamp in April. Anyways, Florida should win the SEC (East) but the schedule is just flat out brutal. I can't wait to see guys like Tim Tebow, Percy Harvin and Jarred Fayson rip it up for UF. If Leak struggles early, Tebow will be playing. As for the National Title race, it's as wide open as I can remember. I don't see Ohio State winning it, but they have a great shot. I think their defensive losses will be what costs them.

I know people that are in the Jesus clubs at school that have the occasional underage alcoholic beverage (and I don't mean communion). Give him his Jv Citation, let him do community service, and drop it.

Damaramu 0 Report post Posted March 22, 2006 Well he was underage and he got caught. Plus he's the QB at Oklahoma. Of course he's in a fish bowl. Well I walked into the indoor practice facility yesterday and the first thing I saw was.....Rhett Bomar throwing an interception~!~! Back to business as usual for him I see. Although AD had some good stuff to say. Apparently the other running back Allen Patrick is his roommate and he thinks they'll have an Auburn or USC duo thing going on this year. I say however with DeMarco Murray coming in and being touted as an awesome freshman RB like Peterson was that Patrick might not sniff the field after Murray shows his stuff off. It's hard to believe this is AD's junior year. If what he said about his daddy isn't true then this could be his last season.

Damaramu 0 Report post Posted April 8, 2006 OU's spring game was on ESPN today. i was in the press box. It was so boring. The defense bitch slapped the offense again. They do it every year. They had fucking Adrian Peterson wearing the blue jersey like the QBs do. He's a fucking running back! Well he wore the blue jersey for other practices but at this one they just gave him blue numbers. It was weird.
lomasmoney 0 Report post Posted April 9, 2006 Its perfectly acceptable to protect a player like Peterson. The last thing the Sooners need is their all-american back blowing out his knee or something and being out the whole season. Without AP, OU is a average at best team that would have a tough time winning the Big XII, whereas with him, they are always a legit contender for a BCS bowl, especially if Bomar continues to improve, and stops getting MIP's
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted April 9, 2006 Well without Peterson last season they couldn't even get close to sniffing the Big XII title but with him they beat a one-loss Oregon that was ranked 6 in the country. So your point is very well taken.

Urban Warfare 0 Report post Posted April 21, 2006 Clausen is a great prospect, slightyly overrated, but still a great catch for Weis and Notre Dame. He'll be a good fit for the offense in Notre Dame. I'll be going to Florida's spring game tomorrow at the Swamp, but I'm slightly worried considering there is a 40% chance of thunderstorms in Gainesville. Regardless, I'm still very excited to get a look at the team and the stadium. Heard that attendance figures are estimated around 30-40 thousand.

If White stayed, it would have been White Booty and Bush. John David's older brothers, Josh and Abram, committed a Booty-To-Booty pass on at least one occasion at LSU. Top that. LOS ANGELES -- USC freshman quarterback Mark Sanchez was arrested today for allegedly sexually assaulting a female student, according to Los Angeles police. Sanchez, 19, was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault around 4 p.m. at the Cardinal Gardens apartment complex near campus, said Officer Jason Lee of the Los Angeles Police Department. "According to investigators, a female USC student alleged that she was sexually assaulted at 12:30 a.m. today," Lee said. "The case is in the preliminary stages and under investigation." teke184 0 Report post Posted April 27, 2006 Please god tell me that this is the downfall of USC. What goes up must come down. On top of everything else going on, it appears that Winston Justice (tackle) has been tied to the same agent rep as Reggie Bush. Specifically, the rep had mentioned going out for a night on the town with Bush, Justice, and others and implied that someone had gotten them a $300+ a night suite in San Diego. http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=cr-b...e=lgns&expire=1 Details about Justice, a junior tackle who has made himself eligible for this weekend's NFL Draft, also surfaced during Lake's testimony. On Nov. 26, 2005 – one week before USC was to play UCLA in the regular season finale – Lake testified that both Justice and Bush were supposed to spend the night out with him. In his testimony, Lake explained his girlfriend had gotten upset with him for planning to go out with Bush, Justice and some of Bush's friends. "Well, I had a sports agency we had formed, and we had a guy in, Winston Justice, from USC," Lake testified. "And [my girlfriend] had planned to go out with us that night, but Reggie Bush came into town. And at that time, he was going to go out with us, so I told her all his friends were coming and that it wasn't a good night for us to go out, and that kind of got her upset." Lake said the group took a limousine to a club, and then eventually dropped Justice off at "Hotel Shalimar." There is no listing for a Hotel Shalimar in San Diego, however, there is an upscale $300 per-night resort in the city's Gaslamp district called "Hotel Solamar." It is unclear from the testimony whether Bush was part of the group that night.
