Guest InuYasha Report post Posted March 26, 2006 For all us closet and open DBZ fans, one of our longest waits is over. DBZ Movie 11, featuring the first unofficial appearence of Gogeta, is being released this coming Tuesday. I don't know about anyone else, but I've been waiting for this movie since I first saw that 2 min. clip of SS3 Goku and Janemba going at it online; way back in 2000. Is anyone else psyched about this release?

Guest Smues Report post Posted March 26, 2006 I thought Janenba was movie 12? Anyway it's a pretty great one and probably my second favorite behind #7. Goten and Trunks fighting nazis rules.
pochorenella 0 Report post Posted March 27, 2006 Which ones are OVA's 6 and 7? So far I've only seen up until the return of Broly movie. The entire TV series I've seen about three times over, including DBGT. Gogeta was already awesome on the regular series. PD: You can't be a closet DBZ fan. Either you are a fan or you aren't. theintensifier 0 Report post Posted March 27, 2006 They ruined Brolly, who is one of the coolest bad asses around.
DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted March 27, 2006 Movie 12 and 13 are the first two I saw, purchased in 1996 from a fansubber outlet at the local mall. I didn't know who anyone was at first but I grew to love them.
razazteca 0 Report post Posted March 27, 2006 Is anyone else psyched about this release? Pay $19.95 for a 45 minute movie?
Damaramu 0 Report post Posted March 27, 2006 I as well thought movie 12 was Fusion Reborn. With 10 being the Return of Brolly and 11 being the one with the bio-Brolly. Anyway it doesn't really matter to me. I only use half of the DVD anyway. I refuse to watch the dub.
Guest Smues Report post Posted March 27, 2006 I refuse to watch the dub. Amen.
Special K 0 Report post Posted March 28, 2006 They're still releasing 45 minute movies for $20 of a 10-year-old franchise? Fuck that, dude. Just get bootlegs. What a bunch of fucking skinflint bastards. And their voice actors suck.
Guest Smues Report post Posted March 28, 2006 And their voice actors suck. That's why the first thing you do after you pop the DVD in is set it to Japanese.
Special K 0 Report post Posted March 28, 2006 By the time DBZ finally ended its run on TV, I had far outgrown it. How long did it take them to translate that show? 8 years? It's just a bunch of grunts and screams! Fuck, I bought the entire series of Azumanga Daioh, which is actually an awesome show, for $35. You can buy the entire, official runs of Cowboy Bebop, Irresponsible Captain Tylor and Vision of Escaflowne (all vastly, vastly superior shows) for like $60. I guess the power of the DBZ fanboy is overwhelming, but I wouldn't support a company that charged $20 for two episodes of a 200+ episode show. $2000 to own the whole thing. Awesome. DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted March 28, 2006 "The Rebirth of Fusion!! Gokū and Vegeta (復活のフュージョン!!悟空とベジータ, Fukkatsu no fyūjon!! Gokū to Bejīta?) is the twelvth movie based on the Dragon Ball Z anime. The English title is Fusion Reborn. It was originally released in Japan on March 4, 1995. It will be released to select theaters March 17, 2006, making it the first Dragon Ball movie to be released theatrically in the United States. It is to be released March 28th, 2006 in North American on DVD and VHS." Theatres!? Several years too late for that, I'm afraid. I've been wondering for the past 10 years how the dub was going to handle Hitler. Is that still a big concern to people these days, showing children Hitler and zombies and violence? Art Sandusky 0 Report post Posted March 29, 2006 How'd I miss this thread. If you haven't just gone ahead and downloaded some fansubs of all of the movies, you're a fool. BUT: I could never get into the movies too much, for probably the same reason I couldn't get into the series after a certain point. Fuckin' Goku is always Mr. Savior. Fuck that. I kinda wish the series had ended after Frieza was killed off (the first time) and allowed the movies to take on the rest of it. I'll talk DBZ with someone all day, but FUCK do I dislike the series more and more as it goes on. And am I the only one that prefered the original FUNimation music and voices over the ones that took over from the Ginyu Force fight onward? There are natural advantages inherent in the real dialogue and whatnot being used as well as people being allowed to die ("I can see their parachutes! They're okay."),but the shit sounded cheap as fuck. Best of the movies: A tie between 6 and 12. My personal favorite: 2, which took place during what I consider the series' peak. Guest Smues Report post Posted March 29, 2006 And am I the only one that prefered the original FUNimation music and voices over the ones that took over from the Ginyu Force fight onward? The voices themselves were ten billion katrillion jillion times better than the current crap and the music was better too, but god the dialogue was just SO bad that I think it'd probably better to have bad voices and good dialoguue then the otherway around. All that talk of 'going to the next dimension', beer being painted to look like a mug of nice frothy water, fucking bodies disappearing, HFIL (that might have been the all time low point right there) and of course Krillen saying 'This is NUTS!' ten thousand times. Of course it's not like the dialogue still wasn't horrible after the new cast "I like this guy, he has ROOTbeer!" but fuck at least it's more accurate (somewhat.) People can die, and most of what they say is happening is what is actually happening. As opposed to "I get it now, VEGETA is the one who killed my grandfather!" (god that pissed me off so damn much.) Edit: If you ever want to see just how bad the dub can be get one of the dvds and watch it with the Japanese audio but the dubs subtitle. It's amazing how many places they just add dialogue that isn't there. The big example that comes to mind is in one of the Android episodes Mutenroshi is telling the story of when Goku was a kid fighting the Red Ribbon Army. There's like a three minute flashback scene that in the Japanese version is just music playing while they show the video, but in the dub he just blabs on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on. pochorenella 0 Report post Posted March 29, 2006 I never, EEEEEEVEEERRRR, listen to the english dub. Original japanese is the way to go, and if you can understand the language then spanish is an awesome alternative.
