Guest nokia Report post Posted April 8, 2006 Hiroki Goto will be replacing Gedo on Team Japan in the X-Cup. - Team Mexico is all over the place - the team of Mistico, Ultimo Guerrero, Rey Bucanero and Ultimo Dragon is now out. CMLL is causing to many problems and TNA has decided not to work with them. - Team Mexico will now be AAA talent with names like Shocker, Abismo Negro, Extreme Tiger, Zorro, Oriental, Zumbido, Charly Manson, and La Parka being discussed for the team. credit: Dave Meltzer * Maybe they should scrap the whole event now? This could be the worst X-Cup ever since the show with Team UK on it a while back (not the team that would have been competing this year like Doug Williams, Jody Fleisch, and Jonny Storm. The team I'm talking about was a bunch of unknowns that sucked back then).
Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted April 8, 2006 Yeah, just cut Team Mexico and use Team England instead.
Hawkius Maximus 0 Report post Posted April 8, 2006 Cut team Mexico when they have ZUMBIDO?! You fools. Zumbido is awwwesome. Goto replacing Gedo is quite the upgrade too.
Dangerous A 0 Report post Posted April 8, 2006 Zumbido and Shocker would HAVE to be on the team in order to salvage it in any way. If those guys are not on, then I would absolutely scrap Team Mexico and go with Team UK.
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted April 8, 2006 Lesser known or unknown workers being involved may be disappointing, but ultimately it's the talent of the workers involved and not name value that's important. Besides, the majority of the fanbase probably doesn't know any of them.

Besides, the majority of the fanbase probably doesn't know any of them. The problem is that the unknowns on Team UK a few years ago did suck. I have no problem with unknowns if they're talented, but the Team UK I saw back then on a TNA weekly PPV had bland workers.

Either they can impress fans so they can start building themselves a name here in the states and maybe draw some viewers whose being told by their friends about this new guy or they can be unknowns and competely suck. tekcop 0 Report post Posted April 9, 2006 Yeah. AAA's LaParka sucks.
Silence 0 Report post Posted April 10, 2006 Speaking of AAA, do they still have those lame Halloween-gimmicked wrestlers/midget wrestlers that I saw just a few years ago?
RedJed 0 Report post Posted April 12, 2006 It's really sad the whole situation got messed up as it seems w/ Team Mexico especially. TNA needs to really book this stuff well ahead in advance and solidify agreements better, as evident here. And they really should reconsider bringing back Team UK - that lineup sounded stronger than any of the rest of the teams to be honest.
Jebus 0 Report post Posted April 12, 2006 And they really should reconsider bringing back Team UK - that lineup sounded stronger than any of the rest of the teams to be honest. Nigel McGuinness and Doug Williams will be on tour with NOAH so no dice.

Nigel McGuinness and Doug Williams will be on tour with NOAH so no dice. Was that the reason why they dropped the Team UK idea altogether then? Again, this goes back to TNA needing to get shit down early - they should have signed them to the deal well before an agreement to work another date took place. luke-o 0 Report post Posted April 13, 2006 As i said in another post, there is plenty of UK talent they could have picked that would have been great in Team UK. Granted, Williams and McGuinness are huge losses, but they still have Fleish (one of the best talents in thw wolrd) and Storm (again, awesome). It seems better that way than just dropping the idea all together.
Jingus 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2006 Bump Team Japan update - Team Japan in the World X Cup will be Jushin Liger, Black Tiger, Minoru Tanaka and Hirooki Goto, with the latter three appearing on Lockdown and at the Monday iMPACT! taping. Liger is great, Tanaka is good, I've never even heard of Goto, and is this the Black Tiger that stunk up the ROH cruiser tournament?
Placebo Effect 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2006 In other news, expect a news update tomorrow that explains how three members of Team Japan will no longer be participating in the tournament.

Dragon Soldier B was the one that stunk up the Best of the American Super Juniors
Jingus 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2006 So did so many actual Japanese wrestlers turn TNA's offer down that they're forced to use a Cuban guy under a mask instead, or what?
The Decemberists 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2006 Well, he's Japanese in as much as he's a New Japan guy and in the wonderfull world of kayfabe Rocky Romero and Black Tiger are totally different people. You're just picking holes for the sake of it.
Guest GoJoe Report post Posted April 22, 2006 At least with Romero, you know that there's a chance that he could work for TNA again if he gets a good reception. I think for the first time this year there's a good chance that an International star brought in for the X-Cup, won't stick around with TNA. The first year you had the entire Team Canada, the next year Hector Garza, this year maybe Puma but he's not even on the official New Japan team.
