Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted April 16, 2006 They're also not on pace to reach 120 wins like they are in my MVP '04 game. And A-Rod isn't on pace to hit 100 HR's. And Jeter isn't whining because he's benched every game.
Guest Sylvan Grenier Report post Posted April 16, 2006 Man, Cubs were fucking impotent tonight. Blooper-reel calibre fielding + poor discretion w/r/t base-stealing did them in. I don't care how fast Lee/Pagan/Pierre/Bynum/Hairston is, I don't see the point in jeopardizing a baserunner and an out in the early innings of a game. It better be a very crucial, late-in-the-game, come-from-behind situation, which "down by 2 in the 5th" probably isn't. If we didn't need Bynum so badly due to the Spinal Tap Drummer Syndrome of our right field, he should be benched for dogging it on that Craig Wilson triple. One last edit: Jerome Williams is a fat sack of crap.

Guest Smues Report post Posted April 16, 2006 What is w/r/t base stealing. My guess is either With regard to or white red teal. I'm thinking probably the former.

Guest Smues Report post Posted April 16, 2006 Smoltz throws a 4-hit shutout and Atlanta beats the Padres 2-0. Great job from John but, as seems to be a daily occurance with Atlanta, someone got injured. In this case it was Renteria. I swear we can't get a win without someone going down. Guest Smues Report post Posted April 16, 2006 OMG Barry Bonds went 1-3 with a double that led to nothing. THIS IS OF SUCH IMPORTANCE THAT WE MUST LEAD OFF SPORTS CENTER WITH IT AND THEN GO INTO MORE DEPTH TALKING ABOUT IT AFTER THE HIGHLIGHT PACKAGE!
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted April 16, 2006 They seriously covered that? I was watching the last couple innings. That double came in the ninth with him leading off. The importance of that had ceased to exist when the Dodgers had tacked on the third run in the bottom of the 8th, meaning Barry would no longer represent the tying run. Stupid ESPN. Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted April 16, 2006 I don't care how fast Lee/Pagan/Pierre/Bynum/Hairston is Speed's pretty pointless when you don't get on base. I agree that if you do, it puts more pressure on the defense, but I'll take a team with a high OBP and no speed over a bunch of guys who rely on scratching out infield hits each time up. Guest Smues Report post Posted April 16, 2006 While Atlanta is in the process of blowing this game a fan reached over the wall and caused a groundrule double. It's probably a double anyway, and it certainly isn't the fans fault if we lose this game, but I fucking hate fans who interfer with the ball in play. And it wasn't like the ball came into the seats and he just reached at a ball coming at him, he reached over the wall and practically had his hand on the ground. He should be ejected but I'm sure that won't happen.

Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted April 16, 2006 That error by Hanley Ramirez may have been one of the worst I've seen in this young season. How do you miss a throw that badly with that much time?

Nah, even Mets fans respect him. It's kind of like a Federer loss where you're just surprised to see it happen since it's so rare. Mo blowing that save made up for the Mets getting curbstomped by the Brew Crew yesterday. It's nice to still not have a losing streak this "late" in the season after last year's start. The citywide wailing and gnashing of teeth will began WHEN, not if, we lose our first series to the Braves though, so I'm just enjoying the ride.

I came here to post almost the exact same thing. As soon as Marquis singled, I figured it was over. Pujols is just too good not to come through against a guy like Weathers. Gotta wonder what the team would be like with him down for any stretch of time.

But then again they came back in 1996 during the playoffs and World Series for the Yankees.

2GOLD 0 Report post Posted April 16, 2006 P.S. on ESPN News, they teased highlights of the Mets/Brewers as a "possible playoff preview." How many of us are aware that it's April? Apparently not many of us since we are all talking like it's the end of the world and how much players are sucking just two weeks in. Not to mention the pointless discussion about the number of homeruns that are being hit. The only difference is most of us aren't thinking about division titles and playoff runs yet. Cept us Orioles fans cause we are well aware we won't be in it later. Might as well enjoy it now.
