Timmy8271 0 Report post Posted July 24, 2007 They really are trying to go for ratings on that sportscenter aren't they? Well both were better than Stuart Scott and Jay Harris.

Craig Th 0 Report post Posted July 27, 2007 I'm guessing no one saw the Barry Bonds townhall meeting? I did for about 10 minutes and it was horrible.
Guest Smues Report post Posted July 27, 2007 Only the editor can determine how shocking this loss truly is. Good catch there, that's awesome I also like that Larry Bowa remembers Cory Lidle is still up.
DrainYou42 0 Report post Posted July 29, 2007 What's with all of the NASCAR coverage, I haven't seen PTI or ATH on for weeks, and they're the only reason I bother with ESPN
Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted July 29, 2007 PTI and ATH are taking their usual summer absence, which happens to fit right in for ESPN to promote the Brickyard 400, which is the second biggest race of the season.
devo 0 Report post Posted August 1, 2007 I have to admit, The Bronx is Burning is actually kinda good. They'd be smart to recreate the on-field events as little as possible, though - it looks like the actors are in front of a blue screen in those scenes, and the effect's kinda jarring when edited together with actual footage from the game they're acting out. Cheech Tremendous 0 Report post Posted August 1, 2007 So I haven't been paying attention whatsoever, but is this Who's Now thing supposed to be a joke? Are they treating as though it were a real competition or is it totally tongue-in-cheek?
sfaJack 0 Report post Posted August 1, 2007 It's ESPN, so I'm gonna guess that they were serious about it.
Cheech Tremendous 0 Report post Posted August 1, 2007 I don't know how it's possible, but Screamin A Smith is actually worse on the radio than he is on television.
Guest • Report post Posted August 1, 2007 He doesn't know which station he's on. He keeps saying he's on the ESPN Radio affiliate in New York, then corrects himself and gets angry.
devo 0 Report post Posted August 2, 2007 They're going to cut away from the Mets/Brewers game every time Alex Rodriguez comes up to the plate. God damn it.
Guest • Report post Posted August 2, 2007 Oh, I have that game on channel 9. I think A-Rod deserves a "put it on the board, ee-yes" if he gets it.
Timmy8271 0 Report post Posted August 2, 2007 ESPN takes Who's Now seriously but if you saw the interview with Peyton Manning on Sportscenter, the guys in Who Now take it as a joke.
fazzle 0 Report post Posted August 2, 2007 The finals are/were today, right? So by tomorrow, will the winner no longer be "now" and instead be "then?"
cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted August 2, 2007 Let's be honest, Lebron being in the finals of that Who's Now tourney is a joke itself. He beat out Shaq easily despite Shaq having 4 title rings and was MVP of the Finals multiple times. Meanwhile, Lebron got squashed like a bug in the lone Finals he has been in. Oh, and the Finals he was in was the lowest rated Finals in the history of the NBA. Why exactly is this guy supposed to be so NOW?
Bored 0 Report post Posted August 2, 2007 You mean the guy who's done multiple SportsCenter commercials and just hosted the ESPYs is one of ESPN's finalists for their popularity contest? I'm shocked.

Lebron's the most recognizable/popular athlete around right now.

Vern Gagne 0 Report post Posted August 3, 2007 Who changed the thread title? Why does ESPN have to air the entire Giants game?
Mik 0 Report post Posted August 4, 2007 I love Bill Simmons, probably more-so then most, but he definitely sounds like a teenager going through puberty. He shouldn't be on radio. I can't even bring myself to listen to his podcast, despite him having some decent guests on.
Vampiro69 0 Report post Posted August 4, 2007 They should let Brian Kenney take over Patrick's radio spot. He is the most knowledgeble of the ESPN anchors and has a good on air voice.
King Kamala 0 Report post Posted August 4, 2007 I love Bill Simmons, probably more-so then most, but he definitely sounds like a teenager going through puberty. He shouldn't be on radio. I can't even bring myself to listen to his podcast, despite him having some decent guests on. I like the podcast mostly because of the good guests but yeah, he's one awkward as hell host. Case in point, the last one with Tony Stewart. It was a half hour of Tony Stewart no-selling Simmons' jokes and Simmons half assedly trying to pretend he's vaguely interested in NASCAR. The shows where his guests are semi famous buddies of his are pretty good but the other ones are generally awkward. That's why he'd be a terrible replacement for Patrick. With a weekly 30 minute to hour long podcast, it's easy to pick your buddies as guests but for a daily, three hour show? Not so much. I'm a big Simmons fan but I'd have a hard time listening to the guy for more than an hour a week.
