veseo Posted April 17, 2006 Report Posted April 17, 2006 When do you expect Cena to turn and will he turn at all? At ECW One Night Stand 2 seems a good idea but that would mean HHH not winning the feud with Cena, which would be... strange. Another possibility would be a double turn at Backlash - Cena cheating to win and HHH being the "poor loser", who gets our sympathy. What do you think?
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted April 17, 2006 Report Posted April 17, 2006 If Cena retains at Backlash, it would be at the expense of Edge.
EricMM Posted April 17, 2006 Report Posted April 17, 2006 I don't feel like they would put a big event at ONS, but who knows. It would certainly be a crowd ready to boo Cena. But my feeling is, if it hasn't happened yet, it won't happen soon.
hyperchord24 Posted April 17, 2006 Report Posted April 17, 2006 Another thread about John Cena? What is this? 5 in the past month?
Lord of The Curry Posted April 17, 2006 Report Posted April 17, 2006 This forum needs more Orton and Cena threads. Definetly.
Guest Coffey Posted April 17, 2006 Report Posted April 17, 2006 My feeling is that the ECW mutants might cheer Cena "just to be different." Even against poster boy RVD I see it being at least a mild possibility.
Lord of The Curry Posted April 17, 2006 Report Posted April 17, 2006 *Scoff* Nope. Ain't gonna happen.
EricMM Posted April 17, 2006 Report Posted April 17, 2006 No way a mostly white adult male NY crowd does anything BUT shit on Cena. No fucking way.
Guest Coffey Posted April 17, 2006 Report Posted April 17, 2006 I didn't say it was probable, just a possibility. Afterall, these are the same fans that cheered Big Sal and thought Shane Douglas was a good world champion.
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted April 17, 2006 Report Posted April 17, 2006 Not to mention they dug PUBLIC ENEMY.
slimm44 Posted April 17, 2006 Report Posted April 17, 2006 Bah Gawd it's gonna happen tonight on Raw when Good Ol' JR interviews Chavo!!!
Enigma Posted April 17, 2006 Report Posted April 17, 2006 My feeling is that the ECW mutants might cheer Cena "just to be different." Even against poster boy RVD I see it being at least a mild possibility. Yeah, that's why they randomly started a "FUCK JOHN CENA" chant during Lance Storm vs. Chris Jericho at last year's One Night Stand. ECW fans figured out how lame Cena was before the casual WWE crowd did.
Lord of The Curry Posted April 17, 2006 Report Posted April 17, 2006 ECW fans, while still whores, aren't at the level of TNA or ROH fans in their need to put themselves over the product. Cena will get massacred at the PPV if he's in the main event. A build to Cena/RVD would be easy, in fact a lot simpler to pull off then HHH/RVD. Have RVD tell Cena he's cashing in his title shot for ONS II and have Cena laugh it off, talking about how he's homegrown WWE talent, their golden boy and that somebody who started out in a bingo hall will never take his title. It would come across better to casual fans rather then the "OMG SUBTLE REFERENCES TO HHH HOLDING RVD DOWN" booking that would take place with the other suggested feud.
EricMM Posted April 17, 2006 Report Posted April 17, 2006 That would actually be better than HHH v RVD.
LivingLegendGaryColeman Posted April 17, 2006 Report Posted April 17, 2006 I know HHH has put a lot of people over in recent times, but my main interest is still seeing HHH lay down for RVD. It's had a need to come since 2002.

It's had a need to come since 2002. It'll be a great visual for us, but unfortunately for WWE, it's too late for it to mean anything, financially speaking.
cabbageboy Posted April 17, 2006 Report Posted April 17, 2006 For some reason I can't see Cena in this match. I listened to an interview with RVD last night and he didn't even hardly mention Cena in terms of a possible opponent for ONS. He mentioned Edge as the guy he wanted to face, that Edge had the most hardcore experience. I'd go with Edge here. Hell, not like having the 2nd short run would hurt his credibility (I'd think having a 3 week title run buries him enough, having a 6 week title reign would be great by comparison). The problem with that suggested Cena storyline is that it doesn't fit him whatsoever. Cena and RVD have had some interactions in the past and the whole ECW thing has never been mentioned. If anything it'd be this cheesy "respect" type feud where both men respect each other and just want to have a good match with the better man winning. It'd be the least entertaining of the 3 options, since either Edge or HHH would likely rant on ECW and do some hilarious shoot style promos.
mfn Posted April 17, 2006 Report Posted April 17, 2006 Shane Douglas was good for ECW. Granted, his in ring work left a lot to be desired, but Douglas on the mic in ECW was classic. But back to the topic at hand.... I honestly think that it will be CENA vs RVD.
Adam Posted April 18, 2006 Report Posted April 18, 2006 I don't see what the problem with any of HHH, Cena or Edge against RVD is. As was mentioned, HHH and Edge have the skills to do some great anti-ECW promos in the lead up, and you know the crowd will shit on Cena and adore RVD. They could put any of those three guys in the match, and it could work out well.
Guest jaderock Posted April 18, 2006 Report Posted April 18, 2006 I don't see Cena turning anytime soon as he IS the leader in merchandising and HAS a huge following in females and kids. I don't see Vince sacraficing those areas of revenue just because the male "vocal" audience dislike him. I think it would be more unique for Cena to face RVD at ONS. And Cena will most like retain it. This is the WWE Championship and I don't see them flip flopping/rotating Champions that often like the tag titles/curserweight titles.
USC Wuz Robbed! Posted April 18, 2006 Report Posted April 18, 2006 The last title change was at Royal Rumble.
Lord of The Curry Posted April 18, 2006 Report Posted April 18, 2006 The benefit of this being the PPV that it is, WWE can go into amnesia mode following it, or barely bring up what went on there so if it's a matter of putting Cena up against RVD and feeding Cena to the ECW crowd they can do so. Edge vs RVD because of the whole "he's more hardcore" thing doesn't do it for me. Cena vs RVD would likely be a better match, though maybe not as spotty. Hell, have Cena even cut a freestyle promo on Philly before the match.
Fökai Posted April 18, 2006 Report Posted April 18, 2006 The Marine will be released on September 29th. If there's a chance in hell of Cena turning, it won't be until that movie leaves theatres.
Hawk 34 Posted April 18, 2006 Report Posted April 18, 2006 The Marine will be released on September 29th. If there's a chance in hell of Cena turning, it won't be until that movie leaves theatres. So Cena will turn heel around October 9th?
veseo Posted April 18, 2006 Author Report Posted April 18, 2006 The Marine will be released on September 29th. If there's a chance in hell of Cena turning, it won't be until that movie leaves theatres. Well See No Evil is coming to theatres but Kane is turning. Sure, Kane ain't such a merchandise guy as Cena but still.

It wouldn't really make sense for him to stay a face.
FroGG_NeaL Posted April 18, 2006 Report Posted April 18, 2006 Cena will turn heel, get cheered, turn face, get booed and so on like The Rock. Or, he's fucked. As for RVD, dude can still be a big time main event player, they're taking small steps to get him there again. Hopefully this time, they don't puss out on the push before he becomes champ. And, I want him to win it from HHH, as a true ending to their on again off again fued throughout the years. Booker T needed this, but it's too late. RVD is still over enough that being champ will mean something. And if they've got RVD and Rey as champs at the same time, I'll mark out like when Eddie and Benoit did the same.
Prime Time Andrew Doyle Posted April 18, 2006 Report Posted April 18, 2006 Cena/RVD would generate huge heat, but RVD/HHH would have nuclear heat.
