Zetterberg is God 0 Report post Posted April 23, 2006 That was a hell of an overtime. If that sets the tone for the entire series, it could turn into an all-time classic.

I wish JD was doing that game, so that we could hear " OHHHH BABY" when Umberger got hit. I don't like to see guys with their eyes rolling in the back of their head from the hit. The Ghost of bps21 0 Report post Posted April 23, 2006 I was at the Sabers/Flyers game. The atmosphere was unbelievable (but that's what happens when neither of your teams has had a playoff game in 5 years). That was edge of your seat action. At times completely maddening...but in the end awesome. Cambell's hit was insane.
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted April 23, 2006 Wade Redden's mom passed away last night. He's flown back to Saskatchewan and won't be in the Sens lineup this evening.

If your from Calgary, why you cheer for the Red Wings?? If Calgary faces Detroit in the playoffs, I suggest to stay away from the red mile.
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted April 23, 2006 Only one thing I'm not looking forward to about tonight's game...they're giving away Thunderstix. I HATE Thunderstix. I want to find whoever thought Thunderstix were a good idea and slap him silly.

If your from Calgary, why you cheer for the Red Wings?? If Calgary faces Detroit in the playoffs, I suggest to stay away from the red mile. First, I wasn't born in Calgary so I have no connection to the team or any reason to cheer for them. Secondly, how could I ever cheer for a team with such bandwagon fans who find it necessary to have drunken and destructive celebrations for a simple playoff win. How about celebrating when the team actually does something. I have been a Red Wings fan for ten years, so this isn't just me cheering a team for the hell of it. It just so happens that I now live in a city where there's finally a contender again, and of course the "fans" care so much about them now. Where was that support even 5 years ago when they practically had to beg fans to buy season tickets with the threat of leaving if they didn't?

I wasn't trying to bash you or anything, I was just curious. But yeah you are right, there are alot of fake fans who never gave a shit about the Flames until the cup run. Mostly the teenage fans, it fucking annoys me. But I was always a Habs and Flames fan, because I live in both citys pretty much.
Zetterberg is God 0 Report post Posted April 23, 2006 Oh yeah, I'm not trying to start a flame war, I just needed to state that this Detroit support isn't new nor is it simply to go against the Flames. Trust me, I respect and fear the Flames as a team and I also respect the diehards who were there through it all, but some random guy yelling "DETROIT SUCKS LOL" pisses me off. I guess by that logic people who say that in this city must be going for the Oilers.
Kismet 0 Report post Posted April 23, 2006 That was the fun of being a Wings fan early in the run. Getting beat in Game 7's(nightmares of San Jose still in my head, faint memories of Toronto loss the year before), getting massacred when they finally get to the Finals the first time in 95, until finally getting the cup in back to back years. The run up to and thru the 3 Cup seasons has been fun. Going thru the rough years to get to the good ones are what makes it fun. Bandwagoners suck. Too bad the Wings lost today. Not earth-shattering or even mildly suprising. They just looked a step slow for most of the second half of the game. nothing to do but look foward to game three. And eliminating them, and Colorado elimnating Dallas would only increase our chances at winning the cup. Alot of the people who go to the red mile, it seems are not even hockey fans really, and only pay attention when the Flames win. I really doubt the cops can control everything, on Friday there was TONS of people on the red mile, and it was pretty much the same as 04. I understand the cops got to keep everything in control, but most Calgary cops are bunch of arrogant pricks. I really don't like the rule that ladys cant take their tops off, I mean seriously, the red mile isn't for children anyways.

CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted April 24, 2006 Just got back from the Sens game. I wasn't at all surprised with the result; in fact, I was surprised the Sens were in the game for as long as they were. They were doomed by a bunch of sloppy play in their own end, and trying to go for style points and artistic goals in the offensive zone. I counted at least a half-dozen times when they made one pass too many on a play in the offensive zone. Coach Murray even said as much during the post-game interview. If they shoot more instead of trying for the pretty play, they probably win 6-4.
Red Baron 0 Report post Posted April 24, 2006 Same thing with Calgary last night too. Too much fancy plays instead of just shooting on the net. Though I have not seen Anaheim play that much, but holy shit they are fast. I knew they were a fast team, but not that fast.
Red Baron 0 Report post Posted April 24, 2006 Though its only two games in the playoffs, Mr. Thorton stuck to his tag as being invisible so far in these playoffs.

the pinjockey 0 Report post Posted April 24, 2006 Umburger is expected to play tonight. Ladies and gentlemen, the next Keith Primeau. The Flyers training staff is a complete disgrace (for previous evidence please see Kim Jonsson's "sinus infection"). After the way he was acting you can not tell me he did not at least have a mild concussion, which should immediately park him for the next week. There is no reason to risk a quality, young players future in the first round of a questionable teams playoff run. Dear Jim McCrossin please get hit by a bus and burn in hell. nl5xsk1 0 Report post Posted April 24, 2006 Any wagers on which Flyer gets the first stupid "retaliatory" penalty on Campbell? Early leader is Gauthier, but I wouldn't put it past Hatcher or, my personal choice, Brashear.
the pinjockey 0 Report post Posted April 24, 2006 It won't be Hatcher, he hasn't hit anything in months. I think Carter going after him was sufficient "retaliation". Most people realize it was a clean hit, Carter still had to stand up for his teammate but that was enough for that type of play. If Gauthier gets him lined up, then of course there will be a little extra in it but I don't see them gunning for him. Besides, reportedly Brashear is out for tonight's game in favor of Ben Eager. Jesus christ I have never been so angry at the Ranger organization in my entire life. Henrik fucking brings this team out of the depths of suckass hell, turns into a king in NY, is beloved by the fans, AND THERE FUCKING GOING TO WEEKES IN SOME RETARDED PANIC MOVIE, ABANDONING HENRIK AFTER EVERYTHING HES DONE FOR THIS TEAM?!? I fucking hope they get swept. edit: Kaspars out too?!? What did the hockey gods do to the Rangers so that our Top D man and top foward are out due to injuries, and the devil himself has gone into Tom Rennys body and decided to sit our OLYPIC GOLD MEDAL WINNING GOALIE!?!?
