CanadianChris Posted May 6, 2006 Report Posted May 6, 2006 If this is the Colorado team we're going to get for this series, you may as well just advance Anaheim to the conference finals right now and save everyone the trouble.
Guest Posted May 6, 2006 Report Posted May 6, 2006 I'm very glad that the Ducks have used their 3rd uniforms during their home games in the playoffs. The eggplant ones are ugly, while these are nice looking.
CanadianChris Posted May 6, 2006 Report Posted May 6, 2006 My God, New Jersey is just getting murdered. Is it rust, or an indication of how this series is going to go? Jersey's defence doesn't look remotely up to the task of stopping the Hurricanes right now.
the max Posted May 6, 2006 Report Posted May 6, 2006 From what I saw, it looked like they were having a hard time getting anything started. That and the ice looked terrible down in Carolina.
Guest Posted May 6, 2006 Report Posted May 6, 2006 The ice is terrible in most southern cities, especially LA, Carolina and Dallas. New Jersey sucked because of rust and the pace of the game. They can play at that pace, but they didn't need to against the Rangers.
Guest Felonies! Posted May 7, 2006 Report Posted May 7, 2006 Good thing we have so many teams in the South now!
JustJoe2k5 Posted May 7, 2006 Report Posted May 7, 2006 Good thing we have so many teams in the South now! That's right.
CanadianChris Posted May 7, 2006 Report Posted May 7, 2006 Is Colorado ever going to score a goal? It's not looking like it. Bryzgalov tied the all-time playoff record for consecutive shutouts (ironically shared by J.-S. Giguere) with 3. He's 40:27 away from breaking the all-time record for consecutive playoff shutout minutes, set 76 years ago by the Canadiens' George Hainsworth (270:08).
CanadianGuitarist Posted May 8, 2006 Report Posted May 8, 2006 Pronger has got HEAT in San Jose. He's getting booed like Big E in Montreal. 2-1 Sharks late.
CanadianGuitarist Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 Ottawa has been the better team, but thanks to exceptionally good play in their own end, Buffalo has a 2-1 lead with nine to play.
Star Ocean 3 Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 Does the better team go down 0-2 after 2 home games?
CanadianChris Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 Unbelievable. Ottawa scores 6 and loses, then gives up 2 and loses again. I'm starting to wonder what it's going to take to win a game in this series. That shot by Spezza late required divine intervention to stay out.
CanadianChris Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 Does the better team go down 0-2 after 2 home games? Well, Carolina is the better team in their series (home ice and all), so no. But, a late Jersey goal ties the series. EDIT: OH MY GOD CAROLINA TIED IT WITH :03 LEFT.
Guest Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 Carolina's going to be representing the East in the Stanley Cup Finals. I think everyone (including me) really underrated the depth this team has. They've got veterans, Staal and a budding star in net. They've got BrindAmour, Staal, Weight, Recchi, Cole when healthy, Whitney, Stillman, Cullen's playing great, Justin Williams. That's deep and fast.
Star Ocean 3 Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 I assume everyone is watching San Jose now, and not sleeping.
naiwf Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 I am taking an almost perverse joy in knowing that the Devils lost a game when all they needed to do was keep a lead for 21 seconds. Brodeur and Co., and their 4 fans can all suck it.
JustJoe2k5 Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 I don't want to jinx it, but as a Carolina fan I really hope that this is our year. Rod Brind'Amour deserves a Stanley Cup.

Guest Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 If anyone was watching Jersey/Carolina on OLN (haha, not likely), can they tell me who the play by play and color analyst were?
Prophet of Mike Zagurski Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 I think it was Mike Emrick and John Davidson.
treble Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 So, all the series are 2-0. Hopefully the other teams get it going, since 4 short series will be pretty boring.
Fartsauce Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 This series isn't even close right now. The good news is that teams have been dominated like this and come back and won, but it's not looking good at all.
The Ghost of bps21 Posted May 9, 2006 Report Posted May 9, 2006 I don't think that Ottawa is the better team. I think Ottawa has better players. The difference between the two statments is why Ottawa has yet to reach a Cup final.
CanadianGuitarist Posted May 10, 2006 Report Posted May 10, 2006 3-3 with four to play in Denver. Colorado's about to go on a powerplay. Anaheim has killed 29 (!) straight, including holding the Avs at 17 straight in this series.

Yeah, but there's only one reason the Sabres reached their one cup final in the past 30 years... and it wasn't a great team.
CanadianGuitarist Posted May 10, 2006 Report Posted May 10, 2006 Avs pp two minutes into OT. They fuck this up, it's 0-for-28, which woul dbe the second longest drought in franchise history. And a great 'somethings gota give' stat: Colorado has won six straight playoff ot games, Anaheim 8 of 9.
