Wal-Mart had the DVD season sets on sale for $15 the week Superman Returns came out, but now they go for around $45 everywhere. Does anyone know where I can get them more cheaply? They had them all for like $14 or something at Costco about a week ago. I got Season 3 there. I think there were that price at Sam's Club too. Seasons 1-4 that is, Season 5 just came out a couple months ago.

strummer 0 Report post Posted December 19, 2006 On Letterman tonight Ben Stiller told a story about how he was so depressed on the set of Mystery Men that he did nothing but eat Peanut M + Ms day after day. He also nearly got into a fist fight with a male cast member (Azaria?, Kinnear? Macy?) after ad libbing during a scene
Art Sandusky 0 Report post Posted December 19, 2006 Just to be clear, I will see this movie for 3 bucks. Because I cannot seriously pass up the chance to see karate fighting monkeys. I cannot pass up a movie that felt that having a super hero with karate fighting chimps was a good idea. I'd direct you to a kung fu movie I saw that had invincible gorilla martial artists at the request of the ruling prince, but I can't remember the name of it. See, I need to see the monkeys actually fighting. Cause monkeys are awesome. But karate fighting monkeys? Well that is just something that I must see on the big screen. Banter 0 Report post Posted December 22, 2006 The Silver Surfer revealed: http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=18130 Fantastic Four: The Rise of the Silver Surfer trailer description: http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=18118 Superhero Hype! message board member 'Atticus' posted the following description of the Fantastic Four: Rise of The Silver Surfer teaser trailer that's about to hit theaters with Night at the Museum. (Spoilers ahead!) It starts of with quick shots of Reed and Sue walking down the aisle. We see Johnny smiling proudly and the Thing wiping away tears. There's a flash in the sky, and Reed looks over at Johnny who replies, "C'mon, I just bought this!" (Referring to his tux) He rolls his eyes and leaps over the edge of the building yelling, "Flame On!" What follows is an amazing chase sequence between Surfer and Torch through a tunnel. At one point the Surfer passes THROUGH a subway bus and the Torch fx really look excellent as he flies through the very narrow gap between vehicles. Surfer ends up way above the streets of NY with Torch in hot pursuit. We then see him turn around, literally catch and hold Torch by the throat until he 'flames off' and begins to fall... LivingLegendGaryColeman 0 Report post Posted December 23, 2006 Went and saw Night at the Museum last night and for the first time in a while, I wanted to see every movie they showed a preview of. It started with Simpsons Movie teaser, Fantastic Four 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer teaser, Evan Almighty, Spider-man 3 and ended with Ocean's 13. I think there may have been another, I was just surprised at a good round of previews. Now, I had made that judgment before they showed Ocean's, but, I'll probably see that anyway, so that's why it stands at all previews of movies I'd go see. Banter 0 Report post Posted December 24, 2006 Halloween writer/director Rob Zombie has announced on his official Blog that he has cast Malcolm McDowell as Dr. Loomis in his new take on the classic horror movie. Donald Pleasence played Dr. Loomis in John Carpenter's 1978 original and its sequels. McDowell will join the previously-cast Daeg Faerch, who plays a young Michael Myers, Sheri Moon and Heather Bowen. Dimension Films has scheduled an August 31 release for the film. teke184 0 Report post Posted December 28, 2006 I just picked up the Simpsons: Season 9 set. Every time I buy one of these, I remember exactly why I stopped watching the goddamn show. Whenever something associated with the show doesn't work, it's never treated as the fault of anyone associated with the show... it's the fault of the fans for not liking their jokes or the DVD purists who aren't open to their flimsy plastic Simpsons heads box designs. Besides the fact that the episodes themselves are up-and-down in this season, the writers, show-runners, and so forth do commentaries in which they basically suck each others' dicks and complain about the people who say the show's gone downhill. I made the particular unfortunate mistake of listening to the commentary on The Principal And The Pauper, which had been voted "Worst episode of all-time" by quite a few Internet polls. The entire episode's commentary turned into a 22-minute bitch-session about how 99% of the fans turned on this particular episode and why the writers don't see what's so wrong with it. Their own interpretation of the episode is along the lines of "This is an allegory for the Internet Community of Simpsons fans. They like things just the way they are, down to the tiniest detail, and flip out when something changes." I'm not going to debate how true or untrue that stance is, but it still doesn't make it FUNNY, which is the goddamn point of the show and probably why so many people were upset. If you're going to do something abstract like that and screw with the norms, go out of the way to make sure it's funny. (Their subsequent comment of "Well, if you did this on the Brady Bunch, I'd see why you'd be upset. However, I don't think people see this show as the kind of creative sandbox like we do, where we should be able to do something like this." Translation- They feel the audience misunderstands them, rather than the other way around. That's fucking ass-backwards thinking that would have killed any other show that wasn't the flagship of their network, ESPECIALLY given Fox's history of premature cancellation of series like Firefly, Futurama, Family Guy (the first time), Alien Nation, and so forth.) The same deal was done the previous season in "The Itchy & Scratchy & Poochie Show" and the writers seemed oblivious to the fact that they were becoming what they were attempting (poorly) to parody, which was to throw in a plot device with no point and to sidetrack the entire story while doing it. I know that the average Simpsons fan on the 'net is tired of these kinds of debates, but I think this kind of stuff shows why one side feels the writers are STILL oblivious about what made the show good even 10 years later. Him on commentary tracks drove me nuts. Still not looking forward to that Principal and the Pauper commentary though.

Guest Smues Report post Posted December 30, 2006 Eragon sucked and certainly does not deserve its own thread, so I'll post here. The pacing was terrible, the script was weak, and the acting was pathetic. Jeremy Irons was the only one worth watching, so of course he died. Which I called way early on, he had Obi-Wan written all over him . And dear god thank you that John Malkovic only had like 30 seconds of dialogue, because he was just awful. All I could think of was "I put the, beats, in my own, script, and I'm, sticking, with them!"
