Karc 0 Report post Posted May 4, 2006 They exploited everyone's death for Confidential, just to get a rating out of it. What a shitty company. And the ECW thing is in no way unpredictable. It's going to fail. In less than eight months. Or at the very least be completely irrelevant.
Guest Montresor Report post Posted May 4, 2006 If the prospect of Hunter and Shawn versus Shane and Vince doesn't excite you, nothing will. How will they brillaintly incorporate The Marine into John Cenas storyline? John's Jarheads (Cena and four actual Marines) w/Kelly Carlson vs. The Spirit Squad at Survivor Series. RedJed 0 Report post Posted May 4, 2006 People forget that DX wasn't just HBK and Triple H...they had Chyna and Rick Rude, then X-Pac and the New Age Outlaws. Two guys together is just a tag team, and I don't see what purpose teaming these two together at this point is going to accomplish. Frankly, I think the DX rumors are a little overblown...Triple H and HBK have been interacting on TV in various ways for the better part of five years now, and their characters are basically interlinked to some degree. Now that HBK is doing crotch chops again, everyone assumes DX is coming back? Cmon, both of them aren't just doing crotch chops and then having a staredown on the last Raw just for the fuck of it. They are clearly going to this direction, or at best/worst (depending how you look at it) they are strongly teasing it to test the waters of HHH turning face, which seems apparent. Also, the running idea, if they reform a DX alliance, is that HHH and HBK will be the leaders of the group, but they will have 2-3 others joining up to get a rub from being with them, such as Orton and Batista got a rub from Evolution - which some may argue with, but the fact of the matter was they were elevated from the connection, bottom line. With that said, I dont mind a DX reunion if done in this manner. And I am enjoying WWE about 70 percent of the time. Apparently that is a crime around this neck of the woods these days! But Raw has a feeling of very strong unpredictability, which is what this product does need right now. And on Smackdown we normally at least had the workrate there, but the last 3 or so weeks has seen that product take a strong turn for the worse, IMO.
cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted May 4, 2006 I guess Cena could always recruit Booker T. to come to his aid and go back to his GI Bro gimmick. I'm not as wildly optimistic as some here but certainly not as bitter as Rudo. I am cautiously optimistic about the ECW angle and revival, but I want to see where this goes. The idea of making ECW the heels is idiotic if they are going to film matches before SD. I mean, how is the WWE crowd supposed to react to those ECW matches and angles if they are told previously to hate ECW? Also, what happens if the fans side with ECW in this angle? I'd have to say I am more interested in Raw right now than SD. In fact I have said that they outta just make SD into ECW. SD is a show that perennially seems like a lame duck show. Right now seemingly everyone is injured, suspended, etc. The odd thing is that SD usually has better matches than Raw, but it's just that the show doesn't seem like it matters. JustJoe2k5 0 Report post Posted May 4, 2006 ECW will be decent for a little while, but professional wrestling as a whole hasn't done anything in quite a while to get me excited.
mfn 0 Report post Posted May 4, 2006 Umaga is awful. 'The Samoan Smashing Machine'? Gee, I wonder where they got that from. As far as ECW coming back, I'm just marking out for it because I was always an ECW fan over WWE and WCW. With ECW coming back it gives me something to actually look forward too. I was excited about TNA when it first came out, but that has just lead to dissapointment. I'm hoping that ECW won't be the same.
k thx 0 Report post Posted May 4, 2006 I enjoy Umaga. I don't want to see him in 30 minute main events, but as a weekly squash it's good. Builds him up to be taken down, and his offence is at least more interesting than Masters when he was squashing people. Plus I've liked Jamal since 3MW. And soup. Wow, you're really hurt by that whole soup thing. I didn't think it would stay with you this long but I was wrong. And if myself, Rudo and others could bombard this folder with "MMA ROX" we would but we'd eventually feel bad about making 90% of this board look foolish in their arguments. Mecha Mummy 0 Report post Posted May 4, 2006 I like Umaga for what he is, though the "Samoan Smashing Machine" nickname is cringeworthy since it's such a blatant knock-off. Having Osama as his manager certainly doesn't hurt either. As far as WWE goes, I couldn't care less about Smackdown anymore outside of the London/Kendrick vs. MNM feud. But Raw isn't bad at all; the Carlito/Masters feud was fun, the Trish/Mickie feud, much as it dies live, entertained me, and the Spirit Squad is all sorts of hysterical. Plus I too am cautiously optimistic about ECW, though taping shows before Smackdown is seventeen flavors of dumb. So I'm borderline with WWE right now; it's certainly not great, but it's been worse at the same time, as recently as just three or four months ago.
RavishingRickRudo 0 Report post Posted May 4, 2006 Being excited about the WWE, especially in todays era, is like the simpsons episode where Lisa experiments on Bart with a cupcake (that is made to give off an electric shock). Only WWE fans have been shocked constantly for 5 years and anyone still going "Oooh, a cupcake!" is a fucking retard.

KingPK 0 Report post Posted May 4, 2006 The ONLY way either ECW or a reformed DX would work is if new stars are created and they don't fall into a Hulk Hogan 2002 Syndrome (thinking nostalgia is a long-term draw). If ECW is just the same old(er) ECW guys throwing each other around people might watch to start for nostalgia sake....but that won't last. If DX is just "Goofy" HHH and "Wacky" HBK doing their thing, it might be funny for a little while.....but it won't last. New guys MUST be inserted into the fold and given plenty of time to grow and nurture a personality while the writing team puts out quality angles to go with the matches. Looking at the WWE's track record lately, I'm not that excited. Sure you have Cena, but the character got much too stale (the fault of Creative) and the worker too lazy (the fault of Cena) leading to the fans turning on him. That can't happen. EDIT: I'm not closing this. Just discuss the topic without resorting to calling people retarded. That shouldn't be hard if you make a good arguement.
Just John 0 Report post Posted May 4, 2006 Care to be more specific on those comments? 'Cause I don't see anybody here criticizing others for liking things that are different. I see poorly made arguments for people liking the same old thing. How can an "argument" consisting of "I like WWE because..." be poorly made? It's an opinion, for god sake. That'd be like arguing against someone because they said "I like Burger King because..." No one's really arguing here. Well, except for Rudo waiting for anyone to say something positive about WWE, then jump on it saying it sucks and whatnot. Is WWE perfect now? No, far from it, but that doesn't mean there aren't certain aspects of it people can't like. If you don't like anything, that's fine. But seriously, quit bashing anyone who says they like something. No one's going to say "Oh, what a well-constructed argument. I think I'll no longer be excited by (insert whatever)..." So just give it a rest.

Just John 0 Report post Posted May 4, 2006 ALL BLACK PEOPLE ARE THIEVES AND ALL MEXICANS ARE LAZY. I'm pretty sure you can find some numbers somewhere to prove this wrong... That's like saying I could pass off 2+2=65 as acceptable, because it's an "opinion." The only thing I could remotely understand questioning in this thread so far is Umaga. I mean, I'm not really all amped up for ECW and DX, but I can see why some people would be. It's not a big deal, really.

benoit4hor 0 Report post Posted May 4, 2006 I thought I was gonna hate Umaga, but thus far he's been kinda entertaining. He hasn't sucked it in the ring like people said he would. I don't know really where they can go with the guy, because I don't see him main eventing. My guess is they keep him looking unbeatable until someone like Carlito beats him and gets elevated. A Carlito vs Umaga feud for say the I.C. title sounds bad on paper, but I think it can be entertaining.
Hunter's Torn Quad 0 Report post Posted May 4, 2006 It's hard to get excited about anything WWE tries to do because they so rarely get things right, and even when they do get things right, more often than not the usual egos get in the way and cut things off at the knees. If you've been a fan for 5 years and you're still getting excited, good for you. But don't expect sympathy if you get let down, as you probably will be, because WWE screw things up so much that you really should have seen it coming. Maybe if WWE go through a period with more hits than misses, then more people will feel able to get excited again, but that is unlikely to happen for all the obvious reasons.
