vivalaultra 0 Report post Posted May 28, 2006 Willie T drives it in...and he stole second on an intentional walk. Unfortunately, Pettitte couldn't drive in another one. I guess Mike "Send Em to the" Gallo is coming in to get the save...I think the Pirates are at the bottom of the order, so hopefully we can finish it off. I need my beauty sleep. Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted May 28, 2006 Pirates announcers bring up a great point: With two outs, why didn't they walk the next two to get to the pitcher's spot. And as I type that, it doesn't matter, since it's tied again.
Guest Smues Report post Posted May 28, 2006 HAHAHAHAHAHAHA first pitch is a homerun. Keep going game, keep going.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted May 28, 2006 Who's got the Pirates feed? I want to be hearing impaired because of these guys.
Guest Smues Report post Posted May 28, 2006 I loaded up the Pirates radio feed but it sounded like shit so I'm listening to the Astros feed instead. Which was funny "Let's hope he can get a quick 1-2-3 inning and we can go home and pack our suitcases" 10 seconds later the game is tied.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted May 28, 2006 He should've just pushed him there, just so we could see a bench-clearing brawl at 12:30 in the morning.
Guest Smues Report post Posted May 28, 2006 Yay 18th inning.
vivalaultra 0 Report post Posted May 28, 2006 ...Thank ya, Mike. I didn't feel like sleeping tonite. Yeesh...'Stros in the 18th...otherwise Oswalt's gonna be pitching.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted May 28, 2006 Victor Santos + heart of Astros lineup = good chance the Pirates will need another homer to keep the game going.
Guest Smues Report post Posted May 28, 2006 45 players used now between both teams.
naiwf 0 Report post Posted May 28, 2006 You'd think in a game with 14 runs, 33 hits and 17+ completed innings someone would have more than 3 hits or 4 RBI. No one's even scored 3 times yet. Biggio's 5 BB and 4 AB is the only statline that jumps out from the hitters at least.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted May 28, 2006 Something I hadn't given much thought (surprisingly) is Roger Clemens' status. Didn't he say he'd let everyone know what was going on no later than June something or other? I'm sitting here watching the game, thinking of the Astros' losing streak and realizing that with each loss, they're putting themselves further and further out of the running for his services. Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted May 28, 2006 The Pirates' color man wants Craig Wilson to bunt. "I'm not much of a strategist." Well, duh.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted May 28, 2006 I was about to insult the Pirates again for taking the bat out of Wilson's hands (again), but Gallo throws the ball away during the intentional walk. Spectacular.
Guest Smues Report post Posted May 28, 2006 Borkowski makes player number 46 for this marathon, but I think it's about to end.
vivalaultra 0 Report post Posted May 28, 2006 Fuckin' Gallo. I feel bad for Munson. All that standing and crouching and stuff. Meh...long game, man.
Bruiser Chong 0 Report post Posted May 28, 2006 Munson: I didn't have the ball, bitch! *punches Bay in the face* That would've made the finish even better. What a game to lose.
vivalaultra 0 Report post Posted May 28, 2006 That was a perfect throw from Willie, too. Oh well, God help us if we lose tomorrow. I still think Clemens will come to us, to respond to that. If he doesn't, I don't think he pitches. We've always sucked in May, so bring on June!
Guest Report post Posted May 28, 2006 Clemens is going to whichever team gives him the most money and is in a comfortable lead of their division. So, he's going to wait another month and a half.
vivalaultra 0 Report post Posted May 28, 2006 I doubt that. Everybody thinks Clemens is about the money. Clemens could friggin' buy Portugal if he wanted to. He wants to play in the park that's 20 minutes from his house where in September, he can be covered at third by his son.
Guest Report post Posted May 28, 2006 I don't think he's about the money, I just think that first place teams are going to throw so much money at him that it's going to be near impossible to refuse. If he thinks one of those first place teams is a contender, he's going to do it. I personally think the Astros are going to come up just short of the wildcard. Will he want to sign onto something that's not a sure thing? I don't know. I think he's headed to Boston.
vivalaultra 0 Report post Posted May 28, 2006 Apparently you've been watching ESPN...but actually, from what I've heard on ESPN, they've stopped talking about Clemens in conjunction with the Great East and are pretty much resigned to him going to the Astros or retirement. I think he's comfortable with the Astros management and players and he knows that they're a second half team.
Guest Report post Posted May 28, 2006 I don't watch ESPN unless it's the only coverage available. I haven't watched Baseball Tonight or any of their coverages of baseball games all year except for when the Dodgers played the Giants. I haven't heard one thing about Roger on ESPN, I'm just basing this on what I think will happen and what I've seen from athletes in the past. Roger nor anyone else is a saint. vivalaultra 0 Report post Posted May 28, 2006 Ah....well on ESPN and BBTN, for the first couple months of the season they were all saying Clemens goes back to either the Yanks or the Sox, but now they're not saying that anymore. Anyway, about the Astros' funk, they've always sucked in May...It's just what they do. Kinda like how the Cubs usually suck from April until September. It's just how they roll, but, yeah...Clemens comes back and starts the first series after the All-Star break.
Dobbs 3K 0 Report post Posted May 28, 2006 Brewers beat the Phillies 9-6 last night, and go for the sweep today. Brewers already swept the Phillies once this season a couple weeks back.
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted May 28, 2006 The Braves are going to win the division AGAIN, aren't they?
devo 0 Report post Posted May 28, 2006 I still think the Phillies have a better shot at it than the Braves. Of course, I don't think either of them are winning the division, for reasons which should be obvious. Orlando Hernandez makes his first start as a Met today. I have a feeling that we'll be finding out fairly quickly why the Diamondbacks were willing to take so little in exchange for him.
Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted May 28, 2006 The Braves are going to win the division AGAIN, aren't they? Probably. You always start to think it might change but come October 1st, yep Atlanta is first in the division.
devo 0 Report post Posted May 28, 2006 Damn it, I wish I could watch the Mets game live instead of just keeping track of it with Gameday. I really wanna see how they scored four runs with four infield hits.
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted May 28, 2006 Here's something you don't see every day...the White Sox got 3 runs off the Blue Jays with one hit, four walks, and an error on the catcher, who threw a pitched ball back over the pitcher's head, allowing Scott Podsednik to score from third. Looks like Taubenheim isn't quite ready for the majors. I hope Burnett comes back healthy soon.
