I guess Mike "Send Em to the" Gallo is coming in to get the save...I think the Pirates are at the bottom of the order, so hopefully we can finish it off. I need my beauty sleep.

Which was funny "Let's hope he can get a quick 1-2-3 inning and we can go home and pack our suitcases" 10 seconds later the game is tied.

naiwf Posted May 28, 2006 Report Posted May 28, 2006 You'd think in a game with 14 runs, 33 hits and 17+ completed innings someone would have more than 3 hits or 4 RBI. No one's even scored 3 times yet. Biggio's 5 BB and 4 AB is the only statline that jumps out from the hitters at least.

Didn't he say he'd let everyone know what was going on no later than June something or other? I'm sitting here watching the game, thinking of the Astros' losing streak and realizing that with each loss, they're putting themselves further and further out of the running for his services.

If he thinks one of those first place teams is a contender, he's going to do it. I personally think the Astros are going to come up just short of the wildcard. Will he want to sign onto something that's not a sure thing? I don't know. I think he's headed to Boston.
vivalaultra Posted May 28, 2006 Report Posted May 28, 2006 Apparently you've been watching ESPN...but actually, from what I've heard on ESPN, they've stopped talking about Clemens in conjunction with the Great East and are pretty much resigned to him going to the Astros or retirement. I think he's comfortable with the Astros management and players and he knows that they're a second half team.

I haven't watched Baseball Tonight or any of their coverages of baseball games all year except for when the Dodgers played the Giants. I haven't heard one thing about Roger on ESPN, I'm just basing this on what I think will happen and what I've seen from athletes in the past. Roger nor anyone else is a saint.
vivalaultra Posted May 28, 2006 Report Posted May 28, 2006 Ah....well on ESPN and BBTN, for the first couple months of the season they were all saying Clemens goes back to either the Yanks or the Sox, but now they're not saying that anymore. Anyway, about the Astros' funk, they've always sucked in May...It's just what they do. Kinda like how the Cubs usually suck from April until September. It's just how they roll, but, yeah...Clemens comes back and starts the first series after the All-Star break.

Of course, I don't think either of them are winning the division, for reasons which should be obvious. Orlando Hernandez makes his first start as a Met today. I have a feeling that we'll be finding out fairly quickly why the Diamondbacks were willing to take so little in exchange for him.

CanadianChris Posted May 28, 2006 Report Posted May 28, 2006 Here's something you don't see every day...the White Sox got 3 runs off the Blue Jays with one hit, four walks, and an error on the catcher, who threw a pitched ball back over the pitcher's head, allowing Scott Podsednik to score from third. Looks like Taubenheim isn't quite ready for the majors. I hope Burnett comes back healthy soon.
