iggymcfly 0 Report post Posted May 29, 2006 OMG Dama. Did you watch the Spurs series? Duncan got twice as many calls as Jordan in his prime, and the Mavs still took Game 7. Dirk hasn't been traveling the way the rules called in the NBA, and I certainly haven't seen excessive fouls down low. If the Suns can't overcome one missed shot-clock violation, then they don't deserve to move on. It's not like it was a one possession game anyway. Dallas was winning regardless. Just John 0 Report post Posted May 29, 2006 The Suns are going to need to rebound if they want to win. Dallas was killing them in the 2nd half on the boards again. Phoenix got hosed on the 24 second violation non-call (though the ref was nice enough to give them a "my bad" apparently), but that's just a small indicator of a much bigger problem. The Suns are playing without KT, Raja Bell, and Amare. They are basically playing like 6 men, and you're comparing them to a team as deep as the Mavericks, and overcoming the odds? Shut it man. The Suns need to get back to taking care of the ball, and hitting some 3s. Don't know what happened today.
USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted May 29, 2006 I know the game isn't over yet, but it's well on its way to being. So I have one question: Where's this "home court advantage"?
iggymcfly 0 Report post Posted May 29, 2006 Yeah, Phoenix definitely had their chances. One play that comes to mind is the one where Diop missed a shot and the ball bounced by about three Phoenix players out to the free throw line before Diop just picked it up again. Phoenix lost the game because they were sloppy with the ball, and because no one except Marion made any effort on the glass. If Amare was still around, I think the Suns would have won this game. Still a big win for Dallas though. They had a perfect opportunity to steal one with Bell out, and they took advantage of all the Suns' mistakes.

There isn't one once you get to this stage. On the bright side, Phoenix is a monumental Dallas chokejob away from being down 3-0. I'd like to amend my pick of Dallas in 6 to Dallas in 5. The NBA gods owe us Miami/Dallas to make up for all of those San Antonio, Detroit, New Jersey Finals in recent years.

I was just responding to Dama's comment that he could be an NBA star for the Mavs because they get soooo many calls. I was pointing out that they overcome a game that really was biased a week ago to beat the defending champs, so I think his "point" that Dallas wins because of the refs is pretty fucking stupid. Right, I was mostly pointing out Ripper's "PHOENIX STOLE HOMECOURT!" thing back in Game 1.
Guest Report post Posted May 29, 2006 If the refs are going to rig games, they're going to rig them for the team with the MVP. I thought that was obvious.
naiwf 0 Report post Posted May 29, 2006 Right, I was mostly pointing out Ripper's "PHOENIX STOLE HOMECOURT!" thing back in Game 1. The main reason I picked Dallas and Detroit to win in 6 is that I didn't think neither Miami nor Phoenix could win twice on the road, but "stealing" one game before losing it right back was almost inevitable. At this point the only games where the home team might have a definitive advantage would be in a game 7.
USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted May 29, 2006 I picked Dallas because I figured Phoenix was running on fumes at this point. The fact they keep going strong impresses me, but I still believe Dallas takes it... in 6 or 7.
Ripper 0 Report post Posted May 29, 2006 I personally didn't get that fucking exciting. It is stealing home court as you don't want to play a 7th game in Dallas. Dallas took it back tonight. Fact of the matter is, Phoenix needs to end this in 6, so yes, winning one in Dallas was huge. To ignore that fact is just plain stupid. As for this game. The game starting with when Dirk grabbed TIm Thomas's arm causing a turnover(that oddly people are just ignoring I guess), then the botched 24 second clock call THEN Kieth Van horn going up for a runner on the next play, the ball slipping out his hand and him going back up and grabbing it again(which for those of you not counting at home is a super duper travel) and Dallas getting ANOTHER rebound killed the suns. They were able to run roughly a minute off the clock there. If they could have gotten on the boards once there, it would have been a interesting game. Suns could have done alot more things to win this game though so those last few minutes would have just allowed them to steal a game they had no right winning. Dallas outplayed them plain and simple. I still think the suns take the next game, but it will be a 7th game now as I don't see Dallas losing 3 times in a row to the suns.
USC Wuz Robbed! 0 Report post Posted May 29, 2006 Ok no I was exaggerating your reaction, but forgive me if I thought it was stupid to talk about home court advantage at this point, as I pointed out earlier and naiwf just tonight, HCA means nothing at this point. Ripper 0 Report post Posted May 29, 2006 Except that it does. Home court matters in game 7's. The only way to avoid a game 7 is to win on the other teams home court and defend yours.
chaosrage 0 Report post Posted May 29, 2006 I think it was a big fuck up to sit Nash on the bench for so long. He only played for 36 minutes and 50 seconds. He almost missed an entire quarter worth of time.
Ripper 0 Report post Posted May 29, 2006 They were doing fine with him not out there. He was at the table when dallas made a quick 4 points in a row to push the lead to 6, but the backups had it down to two with him gone. These long rest periods will pay off when the series goes long. Chuck Woolery 0 Report post Posted May 30, 2006 (edited) Good. Maybe you'll stop taking up every third post to tell us how much you don't care. Back on topic... Larry Brown's biggest strength may have been that he was damn good at keeping the Piston egos in check. I was never a believer in coaching being too important in the NBA, but this series is proving me wrong, and Riley's not even doing a stellar job -- Saunders is just dumb.
