RepoMan Posted May 24, 2006 Report Posted May 24, 2006 Alarm at human bird flu cluster This could be bad. Not Outbreak bad, but were about due for a global flu pandemic.
KingPK Posted May 25, 2006 Report Posted May 25, 2006 The H5N1 virus has already killed more than 120 people worldwide since 2003. It has also devastated poultry stocks. OH NOES! 120 people in three years! EVERYBODY PANIC!!
I like Forums Posted May 25, 2006 Report Posted May 25, 2006 Before this humans have only contracted Bird Flu from infected birds. This may be a case where humans were able to pass it to one another.

Guest Smues Posted May 25, 2006 Report Posted May 25, 2006 SARS will kill me before the bird flu has a chance.
therealworldschampion Posted May 25, 2006 Report Posted May 25, 2006 Time for ABC to make another shitty TV movie about it....
the max Posted May 26, 2006 Report Posted May 26, 2006 I'm still waiting for Legionnaire's Disease to take me out.
Dobbs 3K Posted May 26, 2006 Report Posted May 26, 2006 Well, at least with our tight national security, the chance of someone with bird flu getting into the US is almost nill... Oh, waitaminute...
dubq Posted May 29, 2006 Report Posted May 29, 2006 My favourite part of all this is that the media has been calling the bird flu a pandemic. Already. For who-knows-how-long. Clearly someone in the newsroom has left their dictionary at home.
RepoMan Posted May 29, 2006 Author Report Posted May 29, 2006 I guess its a pandemic as far as Birds are concernced, I've mostly herd the phrase ecedemic, which is still hyperboyle when it comes to humans.
BorneAgain Posted May 30, 2006 Report Posted May 30, 2006 My favourite part of all this is that the media has been calling the bird flu a pandemic. Already. For who-knows-how-long. Clearly someone in the newsroom has left their dictionary at home. True. If/When it hits Spanish Flu levels, NOW then its a pandemic.
super_tigris Posted June 1, 2006 Report Posted June 1, 2006 The media is horribly irresponcible with this bull shit. "IT MIGHT HAVE SPREAD FROM HUMAN TO HUMAN, LET'S WARN THE WORLD!" No...NO. That's fucking bull shit. Get your information together and then show me that it trully is a human-to-human case, then I'll care.
Dobbs 3K Posted June 1, 2006 Report Posted June 1, 2006 The media in general, especially cable news right now, is downright awful. Why people continue to watch that crap is beyond me. They report and stress stories about perverts and supposed epidemics, but do very little actual news gathering. It's all talking head interviews and wild speculation. Virtually no news packages or real in depth reporting anymore. Pretty sad.
SuperJerk Posted June 2, 2006 Report Posted June 2, 2006 At this point, the TV media is just looking for any excuse to say "Watching this report may save your life!" in their commericals.
