Gary Floyd 0 Report post Posted June 8, 2006 Anyways, two trailers have hit online The Wicker Man-Yes, it's a remake. It stars Nicolis Cage (who's also producing), Leelee Sobieski, and Ellen ("The Exorcist", "Reqiuem for a Dream") Burstyn. It's directed by Neil ("In The Company of Men", "Your Friends and Neighbors) LeBute Texas Chainsaw Massacre-The Beginning-Prequal to the 2003 remake, stars Jordana Brewster, Andrew Bryniarski, R. Lee Ermey, Taylor Handley, Heather Kafka. Was also directed by Jonathan ("Darkness Falls") Liebesman, and was written by acclaimed horror author (and the man who coined the term Splatterpunk) David J. Schow. Note: If you can't see it on Apple, check it out on Youtube here.
Special K 0 Report post Posted June 8, 2006 Wicker Man, the original was pretty much perfect for what it wanted to be. I really don't see the point of a remake.

2GOLD 0 Report post Posted June 8, 2006 Well, add THE HITCHER (with Sean Bean in the role of the villian) and THE STEPFATHER to the list of upcoming remakes. At this pace, they'll be remaking CHILD'S PLAY next year and SAW by the end of 2009. I mean, remaking films that came out in the late 80's now. God damn, STEPFATHER won't even make a 20th anniversary before the god damn remake hits the theaters.

Special K 0 Report post Posted June 8, 2006 That maybe true, but that Leelee chick is pretty fuckin' hot. Not as hot as the chick from the original who showed tirts. Or her body double. If they don't have the 'How do' scene, the movie fails. Who remade that song? Sneaker Pimps?
NoCalMike 0 Report post Posted June 8, 2006 The TCM prequel looks exactly like the same movie as the remake. Hilarious.

AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted June 11, 2006 It's the nature of the beast with horror movies: either you get a buttload of sequels, or a remake down the line. Land of the Dead even eventually saw the light of day. House of Reanimator is supposed to be out by 2008, and will feature Stuart Gordon directing, Jeffrey Combs as Dr. West again, and William H. Macy as the President. The plot revolves around a Bush-like president dying in office, and a coverup over it where West is called in to revive the President. Should be at least fun, since Gordon will be directing instead of Yuzna (Beyond Reanimator was a bit too silly, and apparently tried to do everything possible to drain the concept dry), but supposedly his aim is "political satire," which I'm iffy about. Anya 0 Report post Posted June 11, 2006 I'll probably go see the new TCM. It was supposed to have Amy Acker from Angel in it but I didn't see her in the preview? I hate bad political satire in horror movies. Like....Land of the Dead. That wasn't deep, subtle or thought provoking.
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted June 11, 2006 Political overtones aren't the same as satire, though. LotD played it straight.

Corey_Lazarus 0 Report post Posted June 12, 2006 Re: Rob remaking Halloween... I'm somewhat excited about this. House... showed a hell of a lot of promise, and The Devil's Rejects is practically the perfect homage to 70's grindhouse exploitation. Rob grew up on these movies and is very critical of both himself and everything horror, so if anybody can remake a classic it's him. Of course, I also said Dave Parker could prolly write a good zombie movie since he idolizes Romero and Fulci, and then we got House of the Dead.
Special K 0 Report post Posted June 12, 2006 Next thing you know they'll remake Psycho...... Fuck. Has anyone heard anything about Grindhouse? It's a Robert Rodriguez/Quentin Tarantino collection of short horror stories? I loved Dusk 'til Dawn, maybe it'll be good.

Gary Floyd 0 Report post Posted June 13, 2006 Speaking of remakes, here's some interesting news from the Horror Channel. It seems like "Suspiria" is going to be re-made...in Japan, as an Anime. Call me crazy, but this just might work.
