Lightning Flik 0 Report post Posted September 19, 2006 The most hated man in the NHL, might actually be playing to his potential finally? That's impressive.
Guest Report post Posted September 19, 2006 He still fought someone and turtled and beat up some kid that tried to charge him, before the kid could take his gloves off.
CanadianGuitarist 0 Report post Posted September 20, 2006 Domi has been forced into, er, retired and joined TSN as an analyst. Could he be worse than McGuire? Discuss.
CanadianGuitarist 0 Report post Posted September 20, 2006 5-2 Bruins over the Habs. TSN says the Habs felt like winners due to Koivu's good health, but pre-season or not, I don't like a 5-2 loss. Hey, it's what, three weeks to opening night? EDIT: Two! Two fuckin weeks!
nl5xsk1 0 Report post Posted September 20, 2006 Y'know, the Habs would have probably felt even more like winners if they'd won. I was pleased to hear how well the B's played ... 2 G for Sturm, 2 A for Kessel, 1 G/1 A for Chara. Yes, I recognize that it's pre-season (and early in the pre-season at that) but it's good to see the players that the team is counting on playing well. CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted September 20, 2006 The Sens beat up the Penguins last night, 5-2. Heatley scored twice. Both goals came against the third-string goalie. I don't think they're going to miss a beat.
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted September 21, 2006 Apparently Chara got hit in the ankle in tonight's game and had to leave. Also, Evgeni Malkin took a big hit (from his own teammate) and left his game tonight, favouring his arm.

KGB 0 Report post Posted September 21, 2006 Apparently Chara got hit in the ankle in tonight's game and had to leave. Also, Evgeni Malkin took a big hit (from his own teammate) and left his game tonight, favouring his arm. Leclair slipped and did the splits, sliding right into Malkin's path. The two collided and Malkin tumbled right over Leclair and landed awkwardly on his shoulder/arm.

Brush with Greatness 0 Report post Posted September 21, 2006 What the fuck was Malkin doing there? Trying to leapfrog over Leclair? Get low and brace yourself.
the max 0 Report post Posted September 21, 2006 http://www.bostonbruins.com/feature.asp A minor scare went through Bruins nation, as Chara did not return to action in the second, after blocking a shot in the first period. Following the game, however, Bruins Head Coach Dave Lewis indicated that Chara had asked to play the second period, but the training staff thought it best to ice the area immediately. Lewis let Boston fans breath a little easier when he said that Chara will have a precautionary x-ray tomorrow, but was walking fine after the game. Phew. Can't afford to lose the 7.5 million dollar man before he even plays a real game.
JustJoe2k5 0 Report post Posted September 21, 2006 I also heard Mark Recchi left Pittsburgh's game after he was hit in the eye by a stick. Anyone have any information on how he is doing?
Red Baron 0 Report post Posted September 21, 2006 Domi has been forced into, er, retired and joined TSN as an analyst. Could he be worse than McGuire? Discuss. McGuire is good. Anyone is better than Healy and Kypreios.
CanadianGuitarist 0 Report post Posted September 22, 2006 ^ Ok....I'll let you guys handle this one, as he and I will be arguing this for the next two or three months.
the max 0 Report post Posted September 22, 2006 I have no problem with McGuire. I don't think it's bad to have passion for what you cover for a living.
CanadianChris 0 Report post Posted September 22, 2006 Same here. I like Pierre. He's incredibly knowledgeable about hockey. I was listening to him on the radio long before he started at TSN. I agree his TV voice can get a little annoying at times, though.
Red Baron 0 Report post Posted September 22, 2006 So Malkin has a dislocated shoulder. And Brian Savage has also retired from the NHL.
CanadianGuitarist 0 Report post Posted September 22, 2006 Wow. I thought McGuire was more hated. Nonetheless, I'll definitely agree that he knows his stuff. But he's just so animated and over-the-top sometimes. McGuire's monster performer between periods is incredibly hard for me to watch.
KGB 0 Report post Posted September 22, 2006 McGuire goes completely overboard as a colour commentator, but he isn't even the worst commentator out there actually (Healy is fucking terrible). I never thought McGuire was offensive before, when he was just in the studio doing analysis before the game and in between periods, but this "MONSTER" stuff, his orgasms over certain players (worse than Bob Cole) and the constant yelling (especially when it's about the simplest things) drives me up the wall. the max 0 Report post Posted September 23, 2006 Maybe it's because I don't watch the intermission banter or something, I don't know. That's the time for channel flipping. If I'm watching the game, I don't need to be walked through what I just watched. McGuire was a very good third man during the playoffs when they stuck him between the glass, or whatever they were calling it. Just having him drop tidbits of strategy, what the benches were planning, or injuries opened up a new way of looking at the game. I think it showed people just how fast the game is, what the players do on the bench and how coaches approach the game. I hope NBC/OLN bring that feature back this season. I'd say that I'd like to see other channels adopt it, but you need a somewhat knowledgable hockey mind back there. The Canadian networks would probably be able to pull it off, but NESN would use Tina Cervasio or something in the "sideline reporter" angle, which sucks. Even with Aebsicher in net, I'm still not worried, though I'll admit to being a little less boisterous about the Habs then I was six days ago.
