He still fought someone and turtled and beat up some kid that tried to charge him, before the kid could take his gloves off.

Y'know, the Habs would have probably felt even more like winners if they'd won.

I was pleased to hear how well the B's played ... 2 G for Sturm, 2 A for Kessel, 1 G/1 A for Chara. Yes, I recognize that it's pre-season (and early in the pre-season at that) but it's good to see the players that the team is counting on playing well.

Apparently Chara got hit in the ankle in tonight's game and had to leave.

Also, Evgeni Malkin took a big hit (from his own teammate) and left his game tonight, favouring his arm.

He was taken to a local hospital.

Seems like the natural progression of this entire offseason soap opera.

Leclair slipped and did the splits, sliding right into Malkin's path. The two collided and Malkin tumbled right over Leclair and landed awkwardly on his shoulder/arm.

A minor scare went through Bruins nation, as Chara did not return to action in the second, after blocking a shot in the first period.

Following the game, however, Bruins Head Coach Dave Lewis indicated that Chara had asked to play the second period, but the training staff thought it best to ice the area immediately.

Lewis let Boston fans breath a little easier when he said that Chara will have a precautionary x-ray tomorrow, but was walking fine after the game.

Phew. Can't afford to lose the 7.5 million dollar man before he even plays a real game.

McGuire goes completely overboard as a colour commentator, but he isn't even the worst commentator out there actually (Healy is fucking terrible). I never thought McGuire was offensive before, when he was just in the studio doing analysis before the game and in between periods, but this "MONSTER" stuff, his orgasms over certain players (worse than Bob Cole) and the constant yelling (especially when it's about the simplest things) drives me up the wall.

Maybe it's because I don't watch the intermission banter or something, I don't know. That's the time for channel flipping. If I'm watching the game, I don't need to be walked through what I just watched.

McGuire was a very good third man during the playoffs when they stuck him between the glass, or whatever they were calling it. Just having him drop tidbits of strategy, what the benches were planning, or injuries opened up a new way of looking at the game. I think it showed people just how fast the game is, what the players do on the bench and how coaches approach the game. I hope NBC/OLN bring that feature back this season. I'd say that I'd like to see other channels adopt it, but you need a somewhat knowledgable hockey mind back there. The Canadian networks would probably be able to pull it off, but NESN would use Tina Cervasio or something in the "sideline reporter" angle, which sucks.

The sad thing is most other commentators (minus Cherry) ignore the basics of the game.

EFA.

So the Habs lose 5-1 to the Leafs. Even with Aebsicher in net, I'm still not worried, though I'll admit to being a little less boisterous about the Habs then I was six days ago.

Guest Felonies!

They're playing an exhibition game in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

I don't get it.

Not the Canadiens, too!
