Scroby Posted July 11, 2006 Report Posted July 11, 2006 I've never found religon to be important. If anything I see it as a excuse people use to get something that they want or as a excuse as a argument.
Corey_Lazarus Posted July 11, 2006 Report Posted July 11, 2006 That fucking religon still owes me 10 bucks. Religon vs. Megatron: who will rule the Decepticons?
dubq Posted July 11, 2006 Report Posted July 11, 2006 Wildpegasus is religonna start getting mad soon if people don't take this thread seriously. Watch out, he might take off his shirt and flex!
Guest Frank_Nabbit Posted July 11, 2006 Report Posted July 11, 2006 Heading for Classic thread status (By stating this it is no longer possible)
dubq Posted July 11, 2006 Report Posted July 11, 2006 Heading for Classic thread status (By stating this it is no longer possible) Ahh, a PLIF cartoon! This thread just got even more entertaining.
Gary Floyd Posted July 11, 2006 Report Posted July 11, 2006 Ah, PLIF, that almost makes up for WP. As for me: I believe in God, but I'm not a religious person, nor do I care if someone believes or not. Just do'nt be a dick about it.
CanadianChris Posted July 11, 2006 Report Posted July 11, 2006 Wow, that's on the Internet? That started in my university newspaper when I was going there. Cool.
Corey_Lazarus Posted July 12, 2006 Report Posted July 12, 2006 I remember reading PLIF back in high school, man. I wish I still had the one about Mickey Mouse, Ronald McDonald, and Pikachu...something along the lines of the three of them hanging with multiple stab wounds, obviously dead (I think Mickey actually has a knife in his chest), and the caption reads to the effect of "their kingdoms are burning down..." Religon came to me in a dream last night. He offered me a marshmallow cream pie, but I denied it since I'm on a diet of meat and pasta.
SuperJerk Posted July 14, 2006 Report Posted July 14, 2006 Religon is not as important as it used to be. I don't think people growing up today understand how important it was when I was growing up or how important it was a generation or two before that. I look at comments on this board for example and if some of these shock comments were made for example back in the day people would "never talk to you again". It was wrong to go against any of religon's beliefs and if you were a nonbeliever than you were the odd person out. Now it seems if you are a believer you are the odd person out. You are even made fun of at times. When do people here think things started to change? It's hard for me to put a date on when religon started to decline in popularity. Here is one example. When I was in school we would practise for communion during school hours. To the best of my knowledge that doesn't happen as much anymore. I know a part of the world where they still take religion very seriously. However, I live in America. People don't have to take religion seriously if they don't want to. Live your life the way you want and stay true to your own beliefs, but keep in mind nobody else has to believe the same stuff as you. You can't MAKE people religious or make being religious popular, so quit worrying about it.
dubq Posted July 14, 2006 Report Posted July 14, 2006 But why wouldn't anyone want to believe in Religon? Religon is the one true way of the future.
iggymcfly Posted July 16, 2006 Report Posted July 16, 2006 I hate to be the one who's different who actually tries to take the thread seriously, but I'm pretty sure that people started focusing less on religion as they got more educated and more comfortable financially. If you have knowledge about the world, and you are reasonably happy with your life, there's no reason to pretend that a man in the sky is going to solve all your problems. If on the other hand, you have substandard living conditions in the middle of a war-torn desert? Well, you might as well strap a bomb to your chest just in case there's a man in the sky, because that's about all the hope you have left.
Cherry Blossom Viscount Posted July 16, 2006 Report Posted July 16, 2006 Explain Republicans then. The theory that people lose religion as they become more educated and wealthy is BS, because for quite some time, the religious figures were the most wealthy and educated people in the civilized world.
iggymcfly Posted July 16, 2006 Report Posted July 16, 2006 Define "religious figures". If you mean the people that controlled the religions, sure. I'm talking about the peasantry that blindly followed the crap that was being spewed. Oh, and as far as I can see, the only common link between true conservatism in government and religion is that they're both popular in rural America. I think that's where the Republicans are coming from at this point.
I like Forums Posted July 16, 2006 Report Posted July 16, 2006 The wealthy and educated religious types use religion as a tool. Religion controls people.
Angle-plex Posted July 16, 2006 Report Posted July 16, 2006 I have no problem with religion as a whole. I don't like people who think that because they are religious they are more entitled to wealth and happiness than anyone else.
Open the Muggy Gate Posted July 17, 2006 Report Posted July 17, 2006 I think Sean O'Haire said all we need to know about God.

dubq Posted July 17, 2006 Report Posted July 17, 2006 Why did you guys rerail this thread? It's all iggy's fault. It's as if he wanted to take something WP said seriously. FUCK THAT!! RELIGON DOES NOT WANT!!!
BruiserKC Posted July 17, 2006 Report Posted July 17, 2006 Religon...sounds like an Italian dish I saw Batali make on Molto Mario. I think it goes better with white clam sauce.
