gWIL 0 Report post Posted July 17, 2006 Speaking of shitty chains, fuck Romano's Macaroni Grill. Last time I went there the food was great, might just be the one by you. Honest question Czech, do you think it makes your posts funny when you type in all caps? That's funny coming from someone whose name is 75% caps My old username was in all lowercase. Now I'm just overcompensating for it. I thought Denny's or even TGIFriday's were bigger chains. I haven't seen that many Applebee's, especially here in South Florida. Denny's is in a different category. According to Wikipedia, Applebee's is the largest chain of casual dining restaurants in the country and Denny's is is the largest full-service family restaurant chain in the United States. There are more Denny's though.

Guest Felonies! Report post Posted July 17, 2006 Denny's is a glorified coffee shop. Applebee's/Friday's/Ruby Tuesday/Chili's are all like the same place. Furthermore, never go to Ruby Tuesday; I've gotten food poisoning both times I've gone there, and my philosophy TA from freshman year said he got sick there as well but at a different location. Open the Muggy Gate 0 Report post Posted July 17, 2006 Usually after a long game of poker into the night, about once a month, me and my friends head up to a Perkins at about 2 in the morning and hang out there and get some food. Never had a complaint about that place. Food is good up there.
kkktookmybabyaway 0 Report post Posted July 17, 2006 Can anyone really tell me the difference between Fridays and Applebees? At least O' Charlys has good rolls to start the meal and it has a green logo, as opposed to the nearly identical Fridays and AB's logo. O'Charlys was great. There were chains where I lived in Ohio but none in Shittsburgh. Applebee's is harmless enough. Terrible commercials though.
the max 0 Report post Posted July 18, 2006 Usually after a long game of poker into the night, about once a month, me and my friends head up to a Perkins at about 2 in the morning and hang out there and get some food. Never had a complaint about that place. Food is good up there. The last time I ate at Perkins, I was barely back home and in the door before I got hit with stomach cramps and sonic diarrhea. The time before that, they managed to fucking burn PANCAKES. PANCAKES. FFS, I can make pancakes without burning them. Say what you must about Denny's, but at least you know what you're getting from them. To go back and quote Lance Storm, "Denny's...It's not like you expected to leave happy." Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted July 18, 2006 I usually leave pretty happy after a meat lover's skillet or ultimate bowl. I really don't mind Denny's. The fact most, if not all of them are open 24 hours is what usually seals the deal for me, even if they're more expensive than I'd usually want. A meal for me usually costs me $10 though, which isn't that bad, but more than I like to for fast-food quality.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted July 18, 2006 I worked at Applebees for all of half a shift before I said fuck in front of a family and quit before they could fire me.

EricMM 0 Report post Posted July 18, 2006 A delicious, beefy swamp.
Guest Felonies! Report post Posted July 18, 2006 Actually upon a closer look, I do believe I see a heapin' helpin' o' scallions in there. This might be pretty good. This might be pretty good. Eric, look. Phở. The o is growing something. Phở How do I pronounce this? Same as "faux," or would that be too easy?
EricMM 0 Report post Posted July 18, 2006 Actually, actually its pronounced like Fah the Ph = f and the o sound rhymes with the u in "but" so f+the u sound in "but" However, if you want to be REALLY technical, in Vietnamese, the sound is rising, so it sounds like you're asking about it. Pho? Fah? Like the sound we would think of as inquisitive is just another sound in Vietnamese.
Guest Felonies! Report post Posted July 18, 2006 So it's not faux, it's fuh?, then?
EricMM 0 Report post Posted July 18, 2006 but more of an ah sound, like that stupid phrase, brah? Like, "Whats up, brah?" It would rhyme with that almost exactly, I think...
EricMM 0 Report post Posted July 18, 2006 So besides coming with brisket and lean flanksteak, (you can order different cuts of meat) pho is generally beef stock, coriander, white and green onions... it also comes with basil, limes, jalepenos, and sprouts for you to put in as you like it. It's delicious, really, I plan on having it tomorrow for lunch.
Guest Felonies! Report post Posted July 18, 2006 But you said it sounds like but. That's an uh, not an ah.
EricMM 0 Report post Posted July 18, 2006 Something in between, I'd say. Or you could ask for "Faux" and they'd know what you mean. Or just go in there and ask for the one with the flank steak, not the tripe. Because tripe is intestine. It's all numbers anyways.
Guest Felonies! Report post Posted July 18, 2006 I'll have to find a pho place next time I'm in the city, which will probably be for Pitchfork Fest.

MarvinisaLunatic 0 Report post Posted July 19, 2006 I just want to say that I fucking hate Chain restaurants. The area locally is nothing but chain restaurants and a couple of psuedo ones. Applebees, Chilis, Outback, Bob Evans, Ruby Tuesday's, Red Lobster, Fuddruckers (I dont even really want to count them but I will), Olive Garden..I think Im probably missing a couple more. Its rediculous. I absolutely abhor the homoginization of cuisine in America to the point where, yeah, its nice you can get a tex mex meal in the middle of New England but you have a trouble finding local cuisine without having to go completely out of your way to find it.
