I thought it was principal too, meaning "most important."
Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted July 25, 2006 It could be either. But, I don't think principle room would be something a realtor would write, since it would mean a basic, simple room, I guess. Whereas a principal room would be the main room. Either way, the realtor is stupid for requesting such a term like that. And complaining about it, since I'm sure most people browsing for homes don't give a fuck anyway. kkktookmybabyaway 0 Report post Posted July 25, 2006 Wait, I don't get it. I thought it was principal too, meaning "most important." According to AP Style (My AP book is at the office, but this on-line entry will suffice): "Principal" used as an adjective means most important: The principal investigator on the grant is Jim. "Principal" used as a noun means a person in authority: The principal will open the school every morning. "Principle" is a noun and means a rule or code of conduct: His principles will not be compromised. If I was placing an ad and got an error like this, I would ask for a refund or at the very least a discount (a make-good would work, too, unless the ad I submitted was time-sensitive), especially if I submitted the proper wording to the publication. Now if I submitted the incorrect copy, and it wasn't the printer's/publication's job to act as proofreader, then the mistake is on me.
Big Ol' Smitty 0 Report post Posted July 25, 2006 Yeah, CanadianGuitarist, I think you were wrong. Wouldn't a principle room would be a room of high integrity and moral values? http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=%...inciple+room%

Back at the Buffalo News, the only way they'd give a refund is if a price or important word (i.e. address, amount of bedrooms wrong, etc...) Fancy descriptive stuff like principal room is unimportant.

IDIOTS! That's "spelled." Wow. Good call. I feel shame. It's a good thing we have(at the office) a proofreader, who, interestingly, like Hitler, insisted to be left out of the debate. Also, yesterday, my grandparents and I discussed how proper the English was of ESL speakers, since most Canadians have a tendency to slur words together to the point it becomes commonplace, i.e 'em' as from him. This applies. Incidentally, she got a 'sorry, we can't credit you as it didn't effect your business. But it won't happen again.' A make-right, if you will KKK. And you didn't even make a joke about the Oval Office or anything. That Smitty-Goes-to-Washington cab driver must have left quite an impression on you. That cab driver was pretty funny, but his cool-right-wingedness was canceled out by another guy I met--the James Madison Foundation "Congressional Fellow"--a fat dumbass from NC who was working for Liddy Dole. All of the other fellows hated this corpulent motherfucker. He was around 40, probably about 3 bills, and liked to walk around without his shirt on. And he always made sexual remarks to the young girls and tried to get them to help him pick out his clothes. He, two girls, and I went to a bar one night and we ended up having to leave after one beer because he was making one of them so uncomfortable. She was a high school cross country coach and he was asking her if it was hard to run with breasts and about what kind of sports bras her female runners wore.
