Guest ken adams Report post Posted August 1, 2006 I'm not being sacastic (for once). Israel is not involved with Iraq, yet she blames them for the death of her son. Granted, Mel took it & went off the deep end, but it's still the same concept. Both of them are blaming the Jews for their problems, or the world's problems. She is not just a "grieving mother", she's a left-wing nut with an agenda. She had already met with Bush prior to her camping out at his ranch, but she didn't have the media with her to make an event out of it. Once she did have the media with her, she then had to make a crusade out of it. If she was just a "grieving mother", where was her husband? He didn't agree with her, so he left her. There are tons of grieving mothers who think she's just using her son as a tool to further her anti-Israel beliefs. The whole point here is Hollywood is being hypocritical. Whether you agree or not, Jewish groups have said her remarks were anti-Semitic. I would think they would be the authority on what is anti-Semitic, don't you? Mel's comments were also anti-Semitic. Yet, Mel is getting black-balled & Cindy gets a movie. That is hypocritical.
Guest Felonies! Report post Posted August 1, 2006 A Cindy Sheehan movie starring Susan Sarandon sounds so stupid. 6.
geniusMoment 0 Report post Posted August 1, 2006 You know who is to blame for all this? THE FUCKING JEWS. I swear someone should just round all the fuckers up and put them in camps. Wait, oh yeah, lol.
Special K 0 Report post Posted August 2, 2006 They're not comparable at all. Being pro-Israeli myself, being anti-Israeli does not necessarily mean you're racist. Whether some groups have condemned the statement doesn't mean it's true. Do you take everything the NAACP says at face value? Or white power groups? If you're for the war do you hate all Arabs? And while I think she's a grandstander, what else is Sheehan going to do but go to the media. Challenge Bush to a private debate and hope to sway him? I think there's a big difference between bashing a nation's foreign policy and running around personally attacking an arresting officer and yelling "The Jews are responsible for all the wars." So Sheehan's a nutbar, and Gibson's a nutbar, but you obviously have some neo-con axe to grind here so there's probably no talking you down off of this Mike, so I'll just stop. I liked this thread better when it was just making fun of Mel Gibson.
Guest ken adams Report post Posted August 2, 2006 We agree that both Sheehan & Gibson are nutbars, but if you think I have "some neo-con axe to grind here" than you haven't read one word I've written. So I'll say it again, my axe to grind is with HOLLYWOOD. Now why don't we just let this thread sink into Bolivian (as Mike Tyson mught say).
Big Ol' Smitty 0 Report post Posted August 2, 2006 ...if you think I have "some neo-con axe to grind here" than you haven't read one word I've written. So I'll say it again, my axe to grind is with HOLLYWOOD. I think he was implying that you were neo-connish. Whether you agree or not, Jewish groups have said her remarks were anti-Semitic. I would think they would be the authority on what is anti-Semitic, don't you? Did you just read what Bobby Peru said? Just because the NAACP says someone hate blacks or a white power group says that someone hates whites, do you always take what they say at face value? Being against the US's Israel policy isn't the moral equivalent of calling an officer arresting you for DUI a Jew and saying that Jews are to blame for the world's problems. And Anti-Zionism=/=Anti-Semitism. There are a significant number of Anti-Zionist Jews. FWIW, I'm pretty pro-Israel, especially right now. And Cindy Sheehan has become a stain on the antiwar position, IMHO.
Big Ol' Smitty 0 Report post Posted August 2, 2006 Mel's Greatest Hits: In the original interview, in the Dec. 1 issue of the El Pais Sunday magazine, Gibson was directly asked his opinion of homosexuals. He responded, "They take it up the ass." According to El Pais, he laughed, got up, bent over, pointed to his BUTT, and continued, "This is only for taking a shit." Special K 0 Report post Posted August 2, 2006 Are these the same groups that condemned Borat/Sacha Baron Cohen as being anti-semetic? I think probably every sex, race, sexuality and religion has hysterical members who freak out at the slightest provocation. Saying that criticizing Israel = hating Jewish people is like saying people critical of Bush (the majority of the American people now) should just get the fuck out of America! The American Revolutionaries died for you! Boohoohoo. Well, I guess we can agree two things. Those cops were obviously part of a Zionist conspiracy, and Bill Parcells is a big homo. Oh, and Michael Medved's response after blowing Mel Gibson for WEEKS on his program , and having him on his show? "Mad Mel's Malibu Meltdown" Oooh Alliteration! Big Ol' Smitty 0 Report post Posted August 2, 2006 I agree that the Mel Gibson imbrogilio is distracting us from the real issue: Parcells' obvious limp-wristedness.

FroGG_NeaL 0 Report post Posted August 3, 2006 The worst thing that will happen to Mel is a little public backlash, some talkshow appearances to win people back over, then a new movie where he does a good job, and people will forget all of this in the process.
