Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted August 29, 2006 Only in Leena's world. I don't have anything against the guy, but I can get why people are tired of it. We did this with Pete and the nation sorta pretended to be sad but were really thinking "Wait, who is he again? The jerk that always beats poor Andre?"... I'm sure Andre will still be in the general public again shortly in some form.
Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted August 29, 2006 The Agassi haters are in full force across the internet tonight. LOL. You'd think they'd rather see him get served up by Baghdatis than lose to a "no name", but I guess they wanted Andre to get the Roddick 2K5 treatment instead. I'm far from an Andre hater, I've loved Andre since 1999. I just hate the silly hype. And the lemmings in the crowd. And the biased officiating he'll get. I really wouldn't want him to end his career vs. Pavel (far from a no-name, but much like Andre, a geezer who's best time has passed). I just want to see good tennis at the best tourney of the year. Not bullshit.
snuffbox 0 Report post Posted August 29, 2006 Pavel should shave his head or something...the balding looked pretty sad on television.

Not bullshit. I know you're not an Agassi hater, but people who desperately wanted him out were pretty bitter last night. Everyone was whining about the crowd being too noisy and too pro-Agassi, as though they expected a bunch of white gloved, golf fans to be out there and politely encourage Andre in what could possibly have been his last match. Buncha retards.
Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted August 29, 2006 I think people expected that crowd to be rowdy. Most of us know how it was with Jimmy 15 years ago. It does get annoying, though. There comes a point where you have enough respect for the "other guy" and the sport that he can compete fairly. That's all I ask for. But, the media will never allow that, as we saw today about how Andre is such a family man. He cares about the people. And everything good in life. Blah, blah, blah... We're talking about my hometown crowd, at night, at Agassi's potential last stand. As long as no one resorts to throwing anything on the court, I don't really think the "other guy" can complain. I'm not saying it's right or wrong, it just is what it is. Baghdatis' supporters will probably be just as rowdy when they play, so that match will be awesome from a crowd perspective. I think Marcos will crush Andre, but at least the fans will keep it interesting.
Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted September 1, 2006 Women's tournament is cancelled now. The end.
Hogan Made Wrestling 0 Report post Posted September 1, 2006 Yeah that sucks about Martina. Andre takes the first set off Baghdatis. This could be interesting.
Hogan Made Wrestling 0 Report post Posted September 1, 2006 Agassi leading 2-1 in sets heading to the 4th but Baghdatis is finally starting to play some good tennis. I have a feeling we are in for a 5 setter here.
Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted September 1, 2006 Marcos gets hurt. Andre wins. Ugh, ugh, ugh. An Andre win makes all 3 days of CBS's coverage unwatchable. Fight Marcos!
naiwf 0 Report post Posted September 1, 2006 For sheer drama purposes, Agassi/Baghdatis is one of the best matches I've ever seen.
mike546 0 Report post Posted September 1, 2006 That was amazing. Agassi's back was about to fall out, Baghdatis couldn't move from the cramps, and they just kept fighting, and fighting, and figthting. Unreal match. Surreal.
Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted September 1, 2006 Fun match. But, this is really, really going to blow now. CBS is always the worst with the hype. This is going to be off the charts. And Steffi pisses me off. God damn, she looks so good. Please cheat on Andre.
Vern Gagne 0 Report post Posted September 1, 2006 Poor Baghdatis. USA Network almost completely ignored him. The media makes it so hard to root for Agassi.
Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted September 1, 2006 The media and the lemmings in the crowd. This is why you don't announce retirements before you're finished.

Krankor 0 Report post Posted September 1, 2006 That was a damn good match. Normally I'm not that big on tennis but Agassi and Baghdatis both brought it tonight. I'm surprised Agassi's back didn't explode from going for 3 hours and 45 minutes.
pochorenella 0 Report post Posted September 1, 2006 Really outstanding match. I was really worried that Andre was losing after blowing his 4-0 lead on the fourth and down a break on the fifth. I was glued to the fucking TV and that final set was really something to remember. Kudos to Baghdatis who came back from the brink of defeat and fought thru cramps and all to make a most thrilling second-round match. Now Andre's got a shitty road to go, but hopefully he can get thru that Becker dude (never heard of him but he beat Grosjean) to face Roddick on the fourth round and give us another match to remember. TheShooter 0 Report post Posted September 1, 2006 That was a great match last night. As for the Agassi hype, I have no problem with it and I think it is highly deserved. I'll take Agassi in the finals and all the hype that goes along with it over Federer vs some other foreigner anyday.
Hogan Made Wrestling 0 Report post Posted September 1, 2006 Agassi in the finals is a pure pipe dream. To get there he'd most likely have to get through Roddick, one of Hewitt or Gasquet, and then Nadal, barring any huge upsets.
Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted September 1, 2006 One positive with a Roddick/Agassi match is moody little Andy might mentally breakdown to our enjoyment. Ugh... please play up to your potential for once, Dickie Gasquet. He really should make the SF easily out of this.
snuffbox 0 Report post Posted September 1, 2006 I'd be sucking from an oxygen mask within an hour of tennis...how do these old fuckers with bad backs do it for over three? Actually, I'd never make it to even an hour because I can only imagine how much I would suck if I even tried to play.
Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted September 2, 2006 Andre's back isn't that bad. The stories of how he's laying on the ground in agony 10 minutes after every match is bullshit. The latest one was him rolling on the New York sidewalks.
UseTheSledgehammerUh 0 Report post Posted September 2, 2006 I know Agassi got a lot of flack and groans for returning. But I've also seen him in a great comeback win on Monday and a freakin' EPIC match in the 2nd round that was one of the best matches I've ever seen. He's my favorite player of all time in a sport that I loved playing in high school. I'm looking forward to him tyring to beat the German in Round 3in 6 hours. TheShooter 0 Report post Posted September 2, 2006 Why don't they move the US Open to another location? Like, say, San Diego, where there won't be days and days of rain delays every year. Trying to play an outdoor sport in New York in late August/early September is just asking for trouble.

The US Open is just another place for sponsors to wine and dine prospective clients. That doesn't really work anywhere besides NYC.

Trying to play an outdoor sport in New York in late August/early September is just asking for trouble. There's already a ton of tournies in Cali. San Diego doesn't have a facility capable of hosting such a big tournament. The women's tourney near San Diego is a dump, and nobody there wants to build anything new. Indian Wells is gorgeous, and could easily host a slam. But, it's like 110 degrees there now. Eventually, roofs will be put on the 3 main courts in Flushing. Gert T 0 Report post Posted September 3, 2006 If you want to see Agassi's last match you may want to turn to CBS now. 5-7, 4-4. And Agassi wins the TB and its back to a set apiece. Its going to come down to Becker's nerves. Andre's groundies aren't looking good, but Becker is missing a ton of first serves.
Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted September 3, 2006 Predictably, Ben Becker blew the 2nd set by choking horribly. Ok, we know Andre will win, just make it quick now, please.
