4-2 hopefully gives the Twins the lead in the wildcard by the end of the week. They never play well at Baltimore and no Santana or Radke in that series.

Phils kick off a four game series at Chicago tonight. Off the bat, it'll be interesting to see the fans' reaction to Aaron Rowand. That out of the way, the first three games of this series are all 8pm games. That's unusual for the Cubbies.

Jays are in the process of blowing an 8-0 lead to the A's, 8-5 now in the 3rd with only 1 out. Ted Lilly didn't look too happy when he got pulled, he shook his head at Gibbons and you could see him say 'I'm trying to win the game'. Yep, he's gone next year.

Holy shit, looks like they got into a fight in the clubhouse. And the bench is empty.

Personally, Rowand was the guy I always forgot about in the White Sox lineup. However, he said some dumb shit about how bad Cubs fans are at liking baseball because they pay to watch the team they love instead of sitting at home DEMANDING A WINNER, so screw him, I hope he forgets where he's playing tonight when he tries to pull another drama-queen stunt in center and runs face-first into a brick wall.

As great as the Neifi trade was, I'm worried again, since the Cubs activated both Glendon and Freddie Bynum today. It wouldn't be as bad if I knew they weren't going to be used.

Oh please please play Bynum at second base, I need a laugh.

EDIT: or five.

gibbons is such a knob. most canadians shows know that by now as he's probably the msot interviewed guy in our contry right now. the entire blue jays regime needs to be overhauled. gibbons is riccardi's boy. and riccardi ain't all that great. first he tired emulating the a's & failed. then he tried emulating the yankees & he failed. there needs to be a change.

You could see Gibbons trying to keep it calm when he went out there, saying 'Just give me the ball' (though, someone at a Jays board I lurk at said his wife thought he threw a 'fucking' in there), and Lilly was looking PISSED, shaking his head saying 'I'm trying to win the game'. He pretty much went straight to the clubhouse and Gibbons followed him in there and then a trainer or someone and a bunch of players went scrambling towards the clubhouse door.

I think Lilly's done as a Jay now, even though he was probably gone after the season. The Mets will probably try and take him if he falls to them through waivers.

Riccardi and Gibbons probably have at least another year, I think they'll need to make the playoffs next year, though. I know during the off-season Paul Godfrey was talking about his man crush on Riccardi, but Ted Rogers want to see a return on his money, not another 3rd place finish (although, 2nd's in reach right now if the Red Sox keep falling).

Rich Aurilia has gone four-for-four thus far tonight, his fourth hit a three-run homer that ties the game with the Astros 3-3 in the bottom of the eighth. Man that was cool.

TORONTO (CP) - Toronto Blue Jays left-hander Ted Lilly and manager John Gibbons fought in the tunnel between the dugout and clubhouse after the left-hander was pulled from Monday's game against the Oakland Athletics.

The trouble began on the mound when, staked to an 8-0 lead, Lilly was bombed in the third, giving up five runs before Gibbons came to get him. Instead of a simple pitching change, what looked like a manager-umpire argument started.

Gibbons appeared to chew Lilly out, who began shouting back and refused to hand over the ball. When Lilly finally walked off the mound, the bills of their caps brushed.

After Gibbons gave the ball to reliever Jason Frasor, he followed Lilly down the tunnel and went at him according to Canadian Press photographer Aaron Harris, one of a handful of photographers to witness the incident.

The two began wrestling, clutching at each others shirts before security and several Blue Jays players jumped in to break it up.

Lilly remained in the Blue Jays clubhouse afterwards while Gibbons returned to the dugout.

A team official said Lilly would meet with the media after the game.

Lilly gave up seven runs in all and the Blue Jays led 8-7 after three innings.

Earlier this season, Gibbons challenged Shea Hillenbrand to a fight during a team meeting after the disgruntled infielder ripped the organization and wrote "Play for yourself" and "This ship is sinking" on a clubhouse whiteboard.

Hillenbrand chose not to fight Gibbons and was designated for assignment afterwards. He was later traded to the San Francisco Giants.

TORONTO -- Blue Jays manager John Gibbons wound up with a bloody nose after tangling with Toronto pitcher Ted Lilly near the dugout during Monday night's game against Oakland.

It was not known whether any punches were thrown.

Lilly was pulled in the third inning, when the Athletics scored seven runs to close to 8-7. Gibbons chewed out the pitcher, who refused to give him the ball.

When Lilly left the mound for the locker room, Gibbons followed him. A team trainer and a number of players then ran down the stairs of the tunnel leading to the clubhouse.

Cameramen near the dugout saw Gibbons push Lilly first. A television camera later showed Gibbons with a bloody nose.

Gibbons challenged Shea Hillenbrand to a fight in July after the infielder wrote on the clubhouse bulletin board that the "ship was sinking." The Blue Jays designated Hillenbrand for assignment during the game and later traded him to San Francisco.

They didn't show the bloody nose on the Jays broadcast, that's not really surprising. I really hope that that photographer got some pictures of it. Fuck, this has been an interesting season, even if it has been a soap opera.

I love that, makes it seem like he got cut because he wouldn't fight the manager.

Reds pull it out, as a Royce Clayton RBI single puts them ahead 4-3 in the bottom of the eighth before Schoeneweis comes in and retires the side in order in the top of the ninth. Terrific game.

Two and a half up, and only two behind...

When does Gibbons get fired? The team was supposed to win the division and give the Red Sox and Yankees competition.

It looks like Contreras is just a first half pitcher as he lost again today. I wonder if he still misses his wife and kids in Cuba. Oooo I forgot they are in the States with him. I wonder what the excuse is now.

Is there a reason Contreras' failings are a source of joy to you?
