Bored 0 Report post Posted September 3, 2006 Remaining match-ups decided thru today's games. Notre Dame (Lando Griffin) def. Georgia Tech (iggymcfly) Temple (Ortonsault) def. Buffalo (Carnival) San Diego State (The Last Samurai) def. UTEP (Angel Grace Blue) Oregon State (Princess Leena) def. Texas (UTBroward) Michigan (Jimbo) def. Kentucky (Danville Wrestling) Well there's only one match-up left to be decided on Monday...mine. Of note if Miami wins Will Scarlet will become the first poster ever to have a perfect week in this contest. Again a reminder that the Week 2 thread will be posted tommorrow to give the normal amount of time to make picks.
Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted September 3, 2006 Big win! Now, if I can squeak out another upset over Boise St., followed by a bye week vs. Carnival... the Beavers might even get ranked!
Guest Report post Posted September 3, 2006 10 out of 14 if Florida State wins. I could do worse. Fuck Cal, fuck them right up their ass. First they lose the game, then they score the meaningless touchdown.
Guest Vitamin X Report post Posted September 3, 2006 Damn King, you should know from being a fellow Pac-10 fan that Cal was going to suck a dick. Woohoo baby! FIU is 1-0!
Guest Report post Posted September 3, 2006 I didn't think they would be THAT bad. They were awful, and I'm never picking them again.
Vern Gagne 0 Report post Posted September 3, 2006 You're picking Minnesota to beat Cal, if that's one of the choices for next week?
teke184 0 Report post Posted September 3, 2006 Let's see... I went 10 of 13 so far and won my game. Goddamn Cal Golden Bears, Army Black Knights, and Miami of Ohio RedBirds. Looks like I may be high in next week's poll, possibly even retaining my #2 slot if Miami wins, but Will seems to be a lock for #1.
iggymcfly 0 Report post Posted September 3, 2006 Wow, I got raped this week in the contest. It's funny because I did really well in my picks ATS (10-4), but for some reason, my straight-up results were just bad this week. Actually, it's a simple reason: I gave the mid-majors way too much credit, and teams like Utah and Miami(OH) bit me in the ass for it. Especially early in the year, I should probably be going with the established teams until I have reason to do otherwise.
Cuban Linx 0 Report post Posted September 3, 2006 11/13 would have to be close to the best round i've had in this thing, regardless of whether Miami wins or not i should keep a spot high in the top 10. Not bad for a guy that's rarely able to watch any games and has only been following College Football since last year.
Cartman 0 Report post Posted September 3, 2006 9-4 so far in a losing effort but i'll take it since I just started getting into NCAA sports.
Guest Princess Leena Report post Posted September 3, 2006 You're picking Minnesota to beat Cal, if that's one of the choices for next week? Damn you. We have to hold him to that pick now.

They always rip through their schedule early in the year, beating teams they probably shouldn't until they drop a totally unexpected one midway through the year. Like last year's Arizona game. You're picking Minnesota to beat Cal, if that's one of the choices for next week? I don't care what people say, that actually sounds like a tough pick. Angel_Grace_Blue 0 Report post Posted September 3, 2006 Remaining match-ups decided thru today's games. San Diego State (The Last Samurai) def. UTEP (Angel Grace Blue) There we go. I honestly thought that using NCAA Football 2k2 on the PS2 for picks would work. I mean, I went 3-1 on Thursday. Also, most of the games I lost weren't complete blowouts, I think. Next week: Picks based on mascots!
iggymcfly 0 Report post Posted September 3, 2006 I was just so convinced that UCLA was going to be down this year that I wanted to pick against them at all costs. I was really seeing like a 5-6 year for them after losing pretty much their whole offense when their defense wasn't good to begin with. With how bad the Pac-Ten's looked early though, they might be fine. Cal got destroyed by Tennessee, Arizona State almost lost to NAU, Washington snuck by SJSU, and Washington State predictably got destroyed. Just another reason why I think USC will roll this year. Bored 0 Report post Posted September 5, 2006 Time for the Week 1 BCS rankings. The formula is as follows: 45% of the ranking is your win/loss record, 45% of the ranking is your correct pick %, and 10% is your correct pick % against (aka strength of schedule). Obviously everything is bunched right now as with win/loss record your either ranked 1st or 21st in that category at the moment. Now since things are bunched up that means some people come out with same ranking so I do give the higher ranking to the person who had the higher preseason ranking. But this all means nothing after one week and will take a few weeks to take any shape. No perfect week but no surprise who's #1. Bored Championship Series Rankings thru Week 1 1. Hawaii - Will Scarlet 1.2 2. UCLA - phoenixrising 2.35 3. South Carolina - Cuban Linx 2.8 4. Oregon - nogoodnick 2.8 5. Temple - Ortonsault 2.8 6. Syracuse - CanadianChris 3.9 7.
