Guest Oblivious Heel Report post Posted August 26, 2006 The only thing thats a relief for me was this line.. "WWE looks forward to establishing a new relationship with Kurt in the near future." This is their way of telling Kurt to get his ass to rehab and prove he wants to get better and work for the company. I take my hat off to Vince for giving Kurt the "tough love." bob_barron 0 Report post Posted August 26, 2006 Good for WWE. They absolutely made the right move. I saw his last real match I think. (Since the one the next night was just a short squash)
Annabelle 0 Report post Posted August 26, 2006 my opinion is that angle will go to tna & die. thats it, thats all. hope i'm wrong.
Guest Oblivious Heel Report post Posted August 26, 2006 Angle won;t go to TNA. Angle thrives for the best and he believes WWE is that. Again, this is tough love to make him get help.
Lil' Bitch 0 Report post Posted August 26, 2006 Wow, this is really shocking to hear. I hope he gets better and comes back soon. Honestly though, he should have done this after WM XXII.

Kurt Angle Mark 0 Report post Posted August 26, 2006 Best thing that could have happened to Angle and I hope I never see him wrestle ever again. Nothing(especially the current WWE) is worth risking your life over. I hope he takes care of his problems and gets his family life back on track

Hawk 34 0 Report post Posted August 26, 2006 This is the best thing possible for both ends of the agreement. That being said, it is far from being the solution for all the issues and troubles that plague Kurt Angle and the WWE. This is all cumulative and it isn’t anything more then damage control on the behalf of WWE. They’d like to believe that they have a heart and want to save Kurt Angle, which is true to an extent. It is standard practice for the WWE to put their talent into rehab if possible and if such action is refused, this act is the consequence of their decision. It isn’t a sudden realization for the WWE to see that Angle is an addict in many forms all directly linked beyond just his professional career. This is an issue that many people consistently overlook in great fashion. This drive wasn’t implemented into Kurt Angle when he signed with the WWF almost 8 years ago. You need to consider the fact that Kurt Angle has always been obsessed with his own proverbial wall and how much he is willing to shatter it just to continuously over exert himself. Point in case, his two biggest professional triumphs (Atlanta 1996 and WMXIX) were both off the charts in their courageousness and questionable stupidity. Kurt Angle drove himself to this and to pinpoint all blame on WWE would be rash. WWE, to their credit have attempted to curtail Angle’s drive but they are slightly at fault for waiting until it might have been too late. Angle is an utter mess; you don’t need to follow all the constant reports that indicate this. It’s evident in the physical transformation of Kurt Angle’s body, and if you look closely, even his mental stability. Kurt Angle contributed his daughter’s birth to opening his eyes but it’s obvious that the determination that motivates Angle to beyond his limitations has a much further scope then he is willing to confess. He continued on despite the threat of divorce and losing his daughter on account of his persistent desire to be, in his mind, the best. The last two years we have witnessed the deterioration of a once spectacular athlete, I stress that, athlete. Kurt Angle was once a natural, gifted athlete who was in effect almost special. That hardly exist within the shell of what he is right now. WWE really had other no option by releasing Kurt. Certainly, suspending him could have done something but it wouldn’t send as direct a message as this outward release has. It is hopeful that Kurt Angle takes this as a sign of opportunity. Angle has always been mentally unbalanced. I don’t know if this really solves anything, for either side. It’s still up to Angle to self-correct himself and it’ll probably require more then just losing his job to straighten himself out. He has issues that date back beyond his tenure with the WWE. WWE hasn’t ridden themselves of the guilt and blame that is to befall them, if the worse that we all fear is to occur. Years of turning a blind eye and suddenly handing him a suspension and a subsequent release isn’t going to absolve their actions. They will be put in heavy scrutiny. They took a slight beating after Eddie’s death but should something unfortunate happen to Kurt…The negative impact could be vicious perhaps more damaging then Owen’s death. It would be observed by the media and mainstream that a worked sport historically known for steroids and being a carnival act drove a once prominent American Olympic athlete into ruin and his eventful death. This is a situation that WWE fears beyond pretty much anything else. This is first step for each side but it’s hardly the conclusion. It’s the beginning, but of what? Recovery or absolute tragedy? Gary Floyd 0 Report post Posted August 26, 2006 WWE made the right move. The guy was on the verge of killing himself, and if he was kept around, would have done so. Plus, he needs to straighten out his personal life clean up.

FroGG_NeaL 0 Report post Posted August 26, 2006 I really hope Kurt get's his life together. I just beat an addiction to pain pills that I've had for a few years. The same glossed over look in my eyes that I used to see in the mirror, is the one I see on Kurt everytime he's on tv lately. I don't want the guy to die, but if he doesn't seriously get some help for the drugs, and some serious counseling, then I don't see him making it another 18 months. I'll pray for the dude, he needs to be there for his family. Fuck our entertainment.

The Mandarin 0 Report post Posted August 26, 2006 Kurt Angle's such a perfect fit for CZW. He can wrestle their style, he'd be in an environment where nobody would give a shit about his deteriorating health, it's in the Pennsylvania area. Angle vs. Necro Butcher would draw. Of course, you could also put Angle in a "Choose Death" shirt and put them on a team against Ruckus and Joker. Of course, granted that he's fucking close to death and isn't really much of anything in the ring anymore (from what I've seen recently) that's probably a terrible idea. Seriously, all the best to Kurt and hopefully he never wrestles again. Give him fucking ECT or something, maybe he'll vow to become the world's best fisherman instead. The Mandarin 0 Report post Posted August 26, 2006 Are you serious? Who, me? The CZW thing was just me messing around (you should see the people on other boards, who are serious-- "BRING HIM INTO ROH!!"). Kurt Angle should by no means go to a wrestling organization less sanitized than the WWE, that's even worse. ROH would kill him after the first Danielson Regalplex. Edited to clean up all the fucking language.
tominator89 0 Report post Posted August 26, 2006 I don't see Angle turning up for another promotion. As a legit athlete he craves competition and, while pro wrestling is fake, WWE is still the number one promotion in the country.
Guest Oblivious Heel Report post Posted August 26, 2006 I don't see Kurt living long enough to attend his children's weddings and that comment may sound cruel but that is what Kurt should be thinking about.
FroGG_NeaL 0 Report post Posted August 26, 2006 Man, I really don't see him living for another 18 months or so if he doesn't take some time to fix his shit. If he comes back and stays in the condition he's in now, he'll either be in a wheelchair or dead. And I can't see someone like Kurt being able to handle being confined to a wheelchair. I'm not trying to be cruel, or anything either. Dude is a sad story waiting to happen right now.
iliketurtles 0 Report post Posted August 26, 2006 I think those who think Angle is leaving to go somewhere else don't quite understand the situation. it's not like they disagreed over booking which lead to the release. Angle's got serious health and personal problems that have gone on for years and quite frankly he's on the verge of having a quick death....he will either come back to WWE or he'll never wrestle again. That's really how you have to look at this.

Guest Brian Report post Posted August 26, 2006 No, but it's your fault that you support a business that rewards people who put themselves in the position that Angle did. Or the position that Eddy Guerrero was in. Or the position Owen Hart put himself in. A business that rewards those who choose to take steroids and pop pain pills with alcohol, while the fan base covers their ears and closes their eyes. River City Rocker 0 Report post Posted August 26, 2006 Well, in a way, this is great news. Kurt Angle definitely needs time off to regroup, and a lot of time. Truth be told, one of the fears I've had for the past several months was that I would come here, or to another wrestling site, and see a headline like "Angle found dead" or "Kurt Angle dies in ring" after learning just how fucked up he was physically and mentally. But on the other hand, and to agree with a few people here, this has got to be the worst news for Angle. He's even said he wouldn't quit in the past, and it goes without saying that being forced to stop what he loves the most has to be a harder burden than his body breaking down and his personal life falling apart. He's got to want to get better, and I really don't think Angle wants to; he just wants to wrestle. We'll see how this goes, and hopefully, it won't end in tragedy before the end of this year.
