Goddamn right it is.

Oh well. Months before it opened plenty of people were saying it would just be a cult film, and it looks like now that's being proven correct.

Best thing about Snakes on a Plane is the Cobra Starship music video of the theme song, because it stars Maja Ivarsson.

Its a made for Sci-Fi channel movie with Samuel L. Jackson saying "MOTHERFUCKER!" a million times there was no way it was going to make Final Destination money.

imdb has it like this:

1. "Invincible," $17 million.

2. "Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby," $8 million.

3. "Little Miss Sunshine," $7.5 million.

4 (tie). "Beerfest," $6.5 million.

4 (tie). "Accepted," $6.5 million.

6. "Snakes on a Plane," $6.4 million.

7. "World Trade Center," $6.39 million.

8. "Step Up," $6.2 million.

9. "Idlewild," $5.9 million.

10. "Barnyard: The Original Party Animals," $5.4 million.

---

So it looks like numbers 4 through 9 could all switch by the time Sunday's over.

Strange. When I went to see Snakes ona Plane on Saturday it was PACKED. Thought Idlewild would do better, oh well the sooner it gets to the dollar theatre the sooner I go see it. Beerfest and accepted both look like dollar movies to me to. Going to go see Little Miss Sunshine tommorow, hope it's as good as I heard it was.

Yeah... Snakes already hit it's budget or very close. It will make a killing on DVD. The studio is probably thrilled.

When you predict $25 million and get $15 instead on opening weekend, followed by a big drop-off, you're not happy. You're not pissed, but you're certainly not thrilled.

It probably hasn't even covered its marketing budget

That's what I saw this weekend. The best movie of 2006.

Yeah I saw Beerfest and it was pretty damn funny. I've only recently checked out stuff by the Broken Lizard guys. Not sure if this was their best yet, but it's roughly in the same sphere as Super Troopers. Club Dread is the weakest.
