Angleslam Feedback

Recommended Posts

Edited in.

I tell you what, if we can get 5 OAOAST members outside of myself to leave feedback they'll receive a World Title shot. Of course that would depend on the OK of the new champ, NYU, and you'd probably have to lose, but still...you get to be in the ring with the champ.

I already have a title shot thanks to Two For The Money though!

I actually had the benefit of scanning a bit of the show while it was sitting in GCF tonight, so it shouldn't take me long to read the rest.

AngleMania VI: Etched in Stone.

Make it happen, Malibu. The day I do leave the OAOAST, I want to be able to tell my kids one day I saw the greatest match in OAOAST history.

Best show of the year, IMO. From top to bottom an excellent show. It was also the show nobody seemed to want and use Cole and Coach. Guest commentators galore. I know why too. Lots of cosmetic changes as well. Tried to spice the presentation up a bit by including promos and plugs for HD.

PR vs. TK, Steel Cage: A perfect way to open the show. Just brutal. Shades of the Magnum TA/Tully Blanchard I Quit match at the end, although I'm not sure if that's when PR drew his inspiration from. PR talked a lot of smack, but TK ended up with the last laugh.

Tag Team World Cup Semi's & Finals: I'd like to think I support for Team Canada's choice of theme music led to their victory, but I doubt that's the case. I'm sorry to say I never got around to reading the regionals Alf posed in Home Entertainment, but a well handled tournament throughout. It's also the first time I realized a member of Team Canada's name was Ken Paterna. Maybe I knew that and just forgot. With so many characters to write for I forget a lot of the stuff other's write after first reading.

GPX vs. D*LUX, HI-YAH Tag Title: Autocue? Autocue?! *gooles autocue* Ah, a teleprompter. Damn right Tony Brannigan's different. Only OAOAST originals will understand that reference. KC writing for the internet. Oh, wait. He is. :) Ooh, another edition of Syndicated has been announced. Break the curse, KC! Enough ramble. The match was all kinds of fun. Either KC remembered the HI-YAH rules, looked it up or thought it sounded cool (ramming your opponent's head into the guardrail or ringpost is also a DQ is HI-YAH). The finish is the only thing that prevented it from opening the show. That and I remembered a cage match curtain jerked Summerslam 1997 to blow off the HHH/Mankind feud, and since people love gimmick matches it's not really curtain jerking. The commentary was fantastic, btw. I could hear Tony and Jesse calling the match in my head.

Miami Mayhem: SWF InVasion continues~! The OAOAST has turned into a min-TNA with all the talent from the other promotion coming here. So is Exploding Chicken an actual chicken? The intros were great, as was the match. Wild and chaotic, abeit shorter than I expected. Pete's description of his newest shirt sounds like something a wrestling fan could wear without being embarrassed.

Triple Threat, OAOAST Tag Title: If I ever write another Triple Threat tag match again, it'll be mapped out better. I was burning out near the end.

Rodez vs. Maddix, 24/7 Title: Kinda like my next piece of feedback because it's late and I'm getting tired. Good stuff. Last time I can recall somebody being pinned by a figure four -- Ric Flair d. Randy Savage for the WWF Title.

I'll feedback the rest tomorrow.

...and it's not a blatant ripoff of John Cena and "Hustle/Loyalty/Respect" because mine actually follows my initials...

I understand what you mean though. I still get funny looks when I wear my Y2J "Would You Please Shut The Hell Up?" T-shirt. Though not as many as my "Make 7/Up Yours" shirt...

I will feedback once I actually read it (honest!), but suffice to say Papacita excelled himself on the graphics again. Sad as it may be, I honestly maked the fuck out when I scrolled down and saw the belt around "Maddix's" waist on my match's graphic.

Yeah, that was a nice touch by Papa.

Beefbaq from me, starting with the match I was involved in (since that's the first one I read):

Miami Mayhem - Definitely shorter than the other MM matches, but it had some good action. If this was a true blowoff, this probably would have had more to it....but I've said too much already.

"I Quit" Cage Match: Fantastic opener. EWC outdid himself with this match. Nothing flashy in this one, just two guys that don't like each other pounding the crap out of each other with the heel trying to gain whatever advantage he can. Brutal finish too as that's a pretty big win and revenge for TK.

Tag Team World Cup Semis & Finals: Alf's done a pretty good job with this idea, as it has given us some new tag teams to play with. Both semi matches were good reads, but the finals was where it was really at. I've said it multiple times: Team Heyross needs more airtime. That final could be the start of a nice little rivalry between the teams.

More later.

LATER: Let's move on.

HI-YAH Tag Title match: Ventura complaining about the referee not having control is pure Jesse. Lots of flying around and quick moves, a nice contrast to the other tag matches on the card (the World Cup matches being more of a pure wrestling style). The no-contest opens the door for a rematch, so I'm looking forward to more of this.

OAOAST Tag Title 3-Way: Buffer's catchphrase is getting a little overused here, I think. Some unique spots used here (Uber's double powerslam) and it was kind of a mixture of the other tag matches, containing both some nice wrestling and some high-flying moves from the Rockers. Just nonstop action from Tony. That match would be a bitch to write if I had to do it. Black T face turn? Hmmmmm......

24/7 Title Match: This one is my MOTN so far. I'm sure KC's been wanting to write this match for a long time. HEY, Maddox is stealing Prince Killings' schtick! I like how the match takes a light tone at the beginning, but as soon as Rodez hurts his knee things get serious fast. I also liked the chess match quality of the match as both guys have clearly scouted the other and both know it, so Rodez does things like taking advantage of Maddox looking for one move (an enziguri) and hitting a DDT instead. The finish totally makes sense and gives Maddox a huge win. Yeah, definitely my MOTN so far.

Zack vs. Bruce: Here we go! I'm expecting two guys just tearing each other apart. Blood 30 seconds in...sounds about right. Damn, you can feel the emotion in this match, how these guys hate each other. Interesting finish, as the bigger Blank just beats Zack into unconciousness. This wasn't supposed to be anything more than a bloodbath, and it delivered in spades. Can't wait for Zack to get a rematch and try to get vengeance again.

World Title match: After the previous two matches, this kind of doesn't seem as emotional, but that isn't really Alf's writing style. This was a sound main event with lots of back and forth action. Congrats to the new champion.

In all, definitely the best PPV of 2006 so far. Rodez/Maddox is my MOTN.

The thing about Buffer's catchphrase, I don't think anyone really expected it to be used in just about every match. Without going back to check, it may have been used in every match.

Bruce Blank vs. Zack Malibu: Awesome match. You could feel the hatred as you read the match, both men fighting like animals, with Zack showing a side nobody had seen before. I touched on it last night, incorporating youtube into the intros was a clever idea. It's been so long since I've written for them, but I think Patty gave the Sk8er Boiz "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" as their theme. Not that it matters, the Boiz haven't done anything meaningful in a long time, so long I haven't bothered to check if BOBD is still listed as their theme! Again, the match was a thing of beauty. Given the finish it's sure to continue.

Drek Stone vs. Alfdogg, World Title: The ME felt kinda short, but a excellent piece of work nonetheless. There was a bit of mystery as to who would win as questions arised over whether NYU would be around to write. Obviously he is or he wouldn't have gotten the belt.

Match of the Night: Blank vs. Malibu (honorable mentions to Rodez/Maddix & TK/PR)

PRL/Thunderkid

There's only so many ways you can do the 'say I Quit/no way homo' and I think we saw most of them in this one. Except the one I just used. Popick was lucky he didn't mutilate himself if he was trying to throw a sledgehammer over a cage. Or anyone else for that matter. Another good match from EWC on PPV, as per usual. Nice stipulation. I'm a mark for the Tully/Magnum ending too. That Corporate Champion belt didn't catch on I guess.

World Cup Semis and Finals

Seeing as PK grouped them all together, I will too. Ken Pantera is an awesome name. I still don't get how the Jamaicans could be in the European bracket, but whatever. Alf's put a lot of effort into this World Cup and geography apart, he's done a bang-up job. Hopefully we don't get too overloaded with the new characters because it's hard enough fitting everyone in as it is, but I'm glad Team Canada went over. Would have been easy to have the feelgood U.S.A, 'put over Team Heyross' ending. Three nice matches, obviously the final was the top one.

Black T interview

Man, Jesse and Tony are all over this show. Interviews are good.

GPX/D*LUX

Hey, it looks a little longer on the show than it did in WordPad. Whoopie. I probably should have started it before Sunday and wrote an actual match, but hey, what are you gonna do? I didn't know about the barricade thing being DQs or anything like that and to be honest, I didn't just want to do 'spot, spot, throw over top OMGDQ', so this was a way of extending it a little.

Pete/PK

Exploding Chicken is before even my time. Makes me feel...less old. That's good. I don't think anyone who hasn't been a part of the SWF can appreciate what Miami Mayhem represents, but anyone who has knows those sort of matches are a bit of a staple. Not a regular staple, but still. I've had to write matches with both wrestlers on stilts, a match based on the board game Mouse Trap, a pie fight. House Rules, bitch~! Not as 'big' of a match as I expected, but it apparantly won't be the feud ender. I guess the stip isn't a fued ending stip really. Fun for what it was though. Again, House Rules, bitch.

Black T/Sooners/Heavenly Rockers

More interviews! It stops the PPV being all matches, which is a good thing. Tony came up with the name Uber Bruiser, but I agreed with him so I get some of the plaudits. Hot stuff. Obviously with six characters, it's hard to keep track of everyone's place in the match. I managed not to get lost though, so thumbs up! I don't really know what more to add, I thought this was a really fun match.

Landon/Leon

I rule, 'nuff said.

Zack/Bruce

Matches like this are the hardest to write, because the emotional stuff doesn't transfer easily into this sort of thing. Zack did a real good job on this though. Really got the atmosphere over. I was a little surprised Zack was beaten so comprehensively at the end, but I think it worked okay. And it didn't go long, which helped it to stand out a little, like a real fight wouldn't last as long as a wrestling match. Yeah, I'm rambling again. Top notch stuff.

Alf/Drek

I always feel guilty when I write my long-ass matches that people might compare them to Alf's or Tony's or whoever's and think less words = less good, which really isn't true. Fact is, Alf's matches get the same job done without all the rambling I do. And he wrote four matches, so mad props. Good match technically and a really solid topper to the 2nd biggest show of the year. Appro'po of nothing, but Alf's length of title reign is proof that this year has gone way too fast, because it doesn't seem nearly that long. Almost September already. Fuck.

And that probably helped no-one, but I said I'd feedback so here it is, lame as it may be. Yay.

Re: geography

I was just making sure I got most of the big/well known countries in there, I wasn't really paying attention to geography, per se. Had I put in 16 from each of those continents, some big countries would end up left out. Plus I couldn't have done the final I wanted.

I'll try to give more feedback later, but I'm finally working through the Zack/Blank match right now.....and I'm glad I couldn't get my match in on time, it doesn't hold a candle to this....wow.....
