Hoobastank.

Really, it sounds like a drunken frat prank, only really lame.

Sum 41. I used to joke with friends that they got this name because all 4 members ranked their looks on a scale of 1-100 and they combined it. That is how they got the Sum 41.

The Wesux (band I was in my sophomore year)

Tree (not only does the name suck, the band does too)

Rascal Flatts

Angels & Airwaves

Europe

Asia

Boston

Waltham

Chicago (naming your band after the area you're from is LAME)

Nullset (especially when their original name, Gangsta Bitch Barbie, was much better)

Hatebreed (really...is it a backhand nod to white power, or a terrible tribute to The Misfits?)

And all of those band names that are just phrases. Yes, my beloved Shadows Fall is one of them.

They're not worthy of referencing the Smiths. You too, Fall Out Boy, with your hysterically long song titles.

Chicago is a band good name.

There are more bad ones like Thee Michelle Gun Elephant and GO!GO!7188, but that's crossing into dangerous esoteric territory.

Indeed, JPop produces odd band names, but I think it best we stay out of that territory.

I used to be a pretty big fan of The The back in the day ... and by back in the day, I mean mid/late 80s.

And I have no issues with Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark ... just because everyone always called them OMD. As long as the band name can be abbreviated to three letters and sound good, I don't really care what the actual words are. e.g. Grivevous Bodily Harm is a bad band-name, but GBH is a good band name.
