Guest Vitamin X Posted August 31, 2006 Report Posted August 31, 2006 We've done this thread before, but anyways, this is probably the best way to do it. Check out the audio on this page: http://consumerist.com/consumer/mp3s/prank...loop-197587.php NO I CANNOT (I'm aware the audio clip is fake, but it sounds like a good idea)
Giuseppe Zangara Posted August 31, 2006 Report Posted August 31, 2006 They're just trying to do their job, you asshole.
FroGG_NeaL Posted August 31, 2006 Report Posted August 31, 2006 No doubt. I used to hate the fuck out of telemarketers, untill I had to get a job as one. Then I understood how fucked up that shit is.

Dobbs 3K Posted August 31, 2006 Report Posted August 31, 2006 It's not that hard to say "Sorry, I'm not interested, please take me off your list", and hang up.
nl5xsk1 Posted August 31, 2006 Report Posted August 31, 2006 As someone that did some time as a telemarketer, the calm "Please take me off your list, I'm not interested" people are the most annoying. I preferred the wacky people that thought that they were 'fucking' with me or proving a point to the ones that calmly told me that they were all set. I was only there to get a paycheck, it's not like I had a commission plan ... if someone wants to spend 15 minutes screwing around with me, that's 15 minutes less of real work that I had to do. And I just felt bad for the people that actually were interested in my pitch. If you're in such bad shape that you're willing to refinance your home because some stranger called you at random at 6:30 at night to offer it ... you've got problems.
Guest Princess Leena Posted August 31, 2006 Report Posted August 31, 2006 I concur with niskie. If you want to fill time, that's dandy! I'm sure nobody actually liked their job. As for me, I just hang up on telemarketers. I know some of them are evil, and will try screwing with you if just say "yes" or anything positive.
Ted the Poster Posted August 31, 2006 Report Posted August 31, 2006 I concur with niskie. First time for everything.
Guest InuYasha Posted September 1, 2006 Report Posted September 1, 2006 I did telemarketing for a little under a month. When I was doing the AOL Cable Upgrade calls, most people were at least willing to listen to me, or actually took the orders. When I was switched to the credit card part, I had problems. I had been jyped by some fake telemarketers selling credit cards before. So, when I tried to do it, I had something akin to a panic attack. Thankfully, I got a new job a few weeks later. I'm convinced that people who do telemarketing for a long time are slowly selling their souls.
Guest Princess Leena Posted September 1, 2006 Report Posted September 1, 2006 Telemarketer to pushing carts. Movin' up in the world!
gWIL Posted September 1, 2006 Report Posted September 1, 2006 As someone who phonebanks for the Young Democrats, I can't imagine having to sell something over the phone, it's hard enough keeping people on the phone long enough to ask two questions.
Guest Paul Posted September 2, 2006 Report Posted September 2, 2006 I did the telemarketing thing in High School. I much preferred the people that "fucked with me" as it took up much more time.
