They're from Seattle which is only famous for grunge music, the Space Needle, being the setting for Frasier and the highest suicide rate due to the climate in the US. cabbageboy 0 Report post Posted September 11, 2006 I never thought much about the Seahawks until this past year, aside from really liking their old jerseys a lot. But what do people have against them? Basically I think it comes down to them seeming like a fluke last year. The times I saw them they were beaten down for 58 minutes by the Cowboys, only to tie it late and then get a gift Drew Bledsoe INT. I saw them against the Giants as well, and the Giants flat out had them beat THREE different times only to have Jay Feeley fuck up and miss FGs. Also, let's face it: Any of the AFC playoff teams could beat down the Seahawks. They lost the Super Bowl to the #6 seed Steelers. They lost the opener to the #5 seed Jacksonville. Both of these were double digit losses. In fact, the JAX game was one of the only two games the Seahawks had on the road against a winning team....and they lost both times (the other was an OT loss to Washington). Compare this to the Colts for instance who went on the road and beat playoff teams like Jacksonville, Cincinnati, New England, etc. Add in some ultra weak looking wins against the uninspiring likes of the Titans and Niners and people got skeptical about the Seahawks. They're a 9-7 or 10-6 team that had a very weak schedule, heavy on major games at home, and it wouldn't shock me to see them drift back down to that 10-6 level. Not only was that the best regular season record in the NFC, they cemented that standing by steamrolling through the playoffs despite everyone picking against them every week. Even though they stunk it up in the Superbowl, they were a few bad calls away from winning the whole thing. They have a high-powered offense and an above average defense. The only flukey year they've had recently was 2004 when they lost a bunch of close games and choked away a few others. I fully expect them to be a title contender this year. They were the best team in the AFC, and the best team in the NFL Period. The Seahawks beat the Redskins without the NFL MVP, and absolutely creamed the Panthers, everyone's favorite annual NFC pick. IN the process they totally shut down Steve Smith aside from that long return, and he had just romped all over the Bears' incredible D. The Seahawks were the best team in the NFC. Period. Sure the AFC is stronger than the NFC, denying that would be silly. but saying the Seahawks were lucky to get to the SB is silly. No team gets into the SB by luck. I doubt it's anything personal. Yeah, that's pretty much what I meant there. People should know where my allegiances lay by now. And I also fucked up; I meant the '02 RAMS who went 7-9. That trade was pretty much the best resolution to this Branch situation. Branch gets out of NE and can go into free agency to get whatever he wants and the Pats probably got an above value return in a first-rounder since Stallworth is a comparitive player and only fetched a 5th and a backup LB. Slayer 0 Report post Posted September 12, 2006 I don't really dislike the Seahawks. It's just that, historically, Seattle has been a very mediocre "just there" team. They're not a legendary team like GB or the Cowboys, nor are they a laughable team like the Cardinals or Lions. You look through their past records and you see a lot of 9-7, 7-9 and 8-8 seasons. As for the last year, cabbageboy said it best. They were a few close games away from being a 10-6 team (Giants, Titans and one of the 49er games) and their two previous postseasons ("We want the ball!" and collapsing at home against St Louis) gave me little reason to believe they would do anything last year either.
