Dobbs 3K 0 Report post Posted September 10, 2006 I had a similar college experience. My best friend from grade school and I were roommates our freshman year, so I guess I didn't go out of my way to meet people, other than a few people in our dorm. My sophomore year, my friend left the dorms (and eventually dropped out of university completely), so I was forced to meet more new people. I became more involved in student groups (hall council, RHA, the college radio station, etc), and eventually made a lot of friends through being in all those groups. It's not a bad way to meet new people.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Report post Posted September 10, 2006 Or you could just smoke pot. Meet plenty of people that way, too.
Guest Dangerous Donnie D Report post Posted September 10, 2006 ^^True. There are lots of assholes out there, but for the most part if you are a good person and are respectful people will take to you.
lomasmoney 0 Report post Posted September 10, 2006 It was actually pretty easy to go out and meet people. I enjoy drinking and getting high, and I gravitated towards people who share simliar interests. I would say I've met most of my good college friends through other people I knew from dorms or whatever
Dobbs 3K 0 Report post Posted September 10, 2006 Yes, smoking pot is a great way to succeed in college, too.
lomasmoney 0 Report post Posted September 11, 2006 Well, it didn't stop me from having over a 3.0 at one of the best schools in the country. Its just something I do in my spare time, which I have tons of considering I'm going into my last year needing 21 credits to graduate and have finished my major's requirements already
Dobbs 3K 0 Report post Posted September 11, 2006 Yeah, senior year is the best. I think I had like three classes my final semester, and always had Fridays off (which was nice since Thursdays were the big party night at my school). College was good, but I'm so glad I'm done with it.
C Dubya 04 0 Report post Posted September 11, 2006 I think it's really easy to meet people in college. Just remember (especially if it's not a school near where you are from) that everyone else is in the same situation and looking to meet people too.
Pegasus Kid 0 Report post Posted September 19, 2006 I followed a simple rule: Meet everyone you can in the first week of each semester. Everyone is open to new people in that first week and first set of classes. Unless you're completely socially stupid, you'll make friends very easily. spman 0 Report post Posted September 20, 2006 The people that really end up screwed in college are those who, like myself, are just so socially awkward and have such anxiety about it that unless someone approaches you, or you get smacked in the face with a can't-miss opportunity, then you're not going to end up talking to anyone. I just can't approach people, it doesn't work for me. It's not that I'm ugly, or not interesting, it's just that I don't have the confidence and it's just really awkward for me to attempt to randomly drum up conversation. I guess it's just a skill that some of us lack.
