Scroby 0 Report post Posted November 20, 2007 Quick question for those who are playing Galaxy, do you get a star if you get a 100 coins? In the first galaxy I've compelted three out of the five lands but those are the lands with only one star (the two extra levels and the boss level), the other two lands that have 3 stars aren't completed yet and I don't know why. I got the three stars each level has set up for me to get but they're not complete yet, so if I get a 100 coins in a level do I get a star?
devo 0 Report post Posted November 20, 2007 Actually, in most cases those stars are in hidden areas that you just haven't discovered yet, or can only be gathered when Luigi goes to retrieve it and you have to go rescue him.
Scroby 0 Report post Posted November 20, 2007 oh no shit...so how many hidden stars do these maps have?
devo 0 Report post Posted November 20, 2007 When you highlight a stage after completing all its levels, it'll tell you how many stars you can gather from that stage. Normal star outlines indicate ones from hidden areas or stars that Luigi will retrieve, while stars with a comet tail are ones that can only be gathered when a comet is in orbit around the stage. foleyfanforever88 0 Report post Posted November 20, 2007 So I have to figure this out today and since I hate making decisions, I'm gonna see what some of you guys think I should do. I'm going to Toys R Us for their buy 2 get 1 free sale with my $25 gift card ready to be used. I already have Super Mario Galaxy, so I need to pick out three other games. One of my definites is Trauma Center: New Blood. The other two are going to be two of the following: Metroid Prime 3, Mario and Sonic, Guitar Hero 3, SD vs RAW 2008, and very unlikely but possibly Zack & Wiki. The first issue is whether or not I spend the extra $40 (therefore almost negating the sale) on GH3, since I'm really not any good at it. It's one game I do want to get good at, but I'm not sure if its worth the extra money. The other issue is the fact that my Wii is set up in my dorm's common room and 95% of the time it's being used, it's by 2 or more people. We're almost always in the room and I don't want to be sitting there for hours at a time using up the TV and playing video games by myself. I know I could just move it into my room when I want to play, but I know how lazy I am and realize that I probably won't do that very often. That's why part of me says to just get the MP games. I've also considered buying Trauma Center, Guitar Hero, and a third game just to sell. If I can make back $40 from that game, then I've bought Galaxy, TC, and GH for a total of $125..I think. What should I do?
ZGangsta 0 Report post Posted November 20, 2007 If the Wii's in a common room that lots of other people use, and if you buy Guitar Hero, you will never get the chance to use your Wii ever again.

The common room is only shared by 4 of us. But anyways, Toys R Us didn't get Trauma Center yet and they didn't have and GH3s, so I'm gonna call for the last time tomorrow and hope I get a chance to cash in on this sale. dubq 0 Report post Posted November 21, 2007 Anyone have the Wii Zapper yet? If so, is it worth getting for shooter games like RE UC and the upcoming House of the Dead games? Or should I go with one of the third party ones instead?
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted November 21, 2007 1up has posted their Soul Calibur Legends review. The good news: it's better than expected. The bad news: it was expected to be completely terrible, anyway. Hurray for a surprisingly mediocre game! http://www.1up.com/do/reviewPage?cId=3164500 Even more bad news: even Nintendo Power didn't think it was so hot: http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=175833\ Both reviews, curiously, said it was shallow and short and would have been better served in a bonus mode to a real SC game. Ouch. Gamestop Informer gives it a 4.0 out of 10.
BUTT 0 Report post Posted November 21, 2007 According to VGChartz.com (which isn't necessarily the best source but really neither is NPD) Mario Galaxy sold 750K in its first week.
brokentusk16 0 Report post Posted November 21, 2007 So I've been playing Mario Galaxy for the past few days and am loving it. One question: how do I get my health bar past 3? On Mario 64 you could go up to 6, can't you do that for this game?
Narcoleptic Jumper 0 Report post Posted November 21, 2007 You can get super mushrooms scattered throughout the various levels which bring your life up to 6, but if your life goes down to 3 again it stays there until you get another mushroom.
luke-o 0 Report post Posted November 21, 2007 I can't decided whether to try and speed run through Galaxy or try and get as many stars as I can. I've been doing the latter since I bought it, but I really want to finish the game.

I've been doing the latter since I bought it, but I really want to finish the game. The levels seem really easy so far, so a speed through seems really easy to me. I'd just try to get all the stars you can to try and really really enjoy the game. speaking of stars, anyone know what level and world the 2nd Luigi star is? I got the photo but I can't remember what level/world it is. I think it's a world that I would get to using the Kitchen.

There are only 3 Luigi stars and for some reason, they decided to have two Luigis when you beat the game with 120 stars and play through again as Luigi. First is in Good Egg Second is in Battlerock, which is accessed from the fountain. This is also one of the three Green Power Stars. Third will be in Honeyhive, accessed from the first dome. But yeah, it was dissapointing. They should have put Mario..or since he's not in except as a cameo planet...Yoshi. However, things are made up because the first letter you get from Mailtoad (as in when you first meet him and whenever you start the game again from powering down), Peach (who still addresses the letter to Mario, which Mailtoad notes) gives you 20 1-ups. BUTT 0 Report post Posted November 22, 2007 Man, the Virtual Console really is so much better in Japan than it is here. Japan got Eternal Champions this week. I'm so stoked. I can't wait for it to come here. I'll be all over that. Although there aren't any M-rated games on the VC yet, are there? Will Eternal Champions be the game to break this wall down? Or will Nintendo of America say OH GEEZ WELL YA KNOW WE'D LOVE TO HAVE IT ON OUR SYSTEM BUT WE CAN'T GUARANTEE THAT KIDS WON'T BE BUYING IT AND PLAYING IT AND WE NEED TO PROTECT THE CHILDREN AND HERE HAVE GYROMITE INSTEAD. Although I guess it wouldn't necessarily be rated M, since it was rated MA-13 on the Genesis. But so was Mortal Kombat and that game was bloody as hell, and I'm sure now any modern release of the first MK would be M-rated. But EC is too violent to be rated T, no matter what the Sega of 1993 thought. I'm telling you!
AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted November 22, 2007 -Mortal Kombat 1 on SNES had no rating at the time, because ESRB didn't exist then. It had "sweat" instead of blood and watered down finishing moves. MK1 Genesis was "MA-13" as part of Sega's ratings (the VRC), but the blood code basically made it the equivalent of an "M" game. -The Sega CD EC was a lot more violent than the Genesis release, and got the MA-17. This also holds true with the Sega CD MK, which had the blood code "on" as a default. EDIT: The ESRB has already rated EC for the Wii, and it's a T.

They can't even have headshots (ie: RE4) in their games without them being restricted.
DrVenkman PhD 0 Report post Posted November 22, 2007 My vague memories of the Genesis EC recall the game being no bloodier than a Street Fighter game (also rated "T for Teen"). The Sega CD version, on the other hand... Keep in mind by "vague memories", I mean back in the 90s my friends rented it and we played it a little bit over the weekend. I didn't know anyone who owned it or put a significant amount of playtime into it.

AndrewTS 0 Report post Posted November 22, 2007 Here's the Eternal Champion (Sega CD version) fatalities: Anyone know where there's a version for the Genesis? I'm willing to bet there's no comparison.
Anya 0 Report post Posted November 23, 2007 The original EC fatalities are in that video. The original only had the stage fatals and they were kept for the sequel. The electric sign, theater drive by, fan, and so on were from part 1. They just added some blood effects. The original had some blood but nothing crazy like that. I think the only one totally replaced was in Jetta's stage(the balcony). In 2 the dragon statues come to life and eat the opponent. In the original there was an earthquake under the opponent and they fell in. I would not want to play EC in 2007. Especially if I had to pay for it.

dubq 0 Report post Posted November 23, 2007 So I bought the Zapper today. I have to say, the "B button" trigger needs a spring, badly. I don't know why they wouldn't have included it. IGN actually said the same thing. I'm going to try and mod it myself. Other than that, for a glorified controller holder it actually makes it a little easier to play RE:UC since you have more control using both arms where the reticule goes on screen. Anyone else pick it up yet?
