Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted October 13, 2006 I'll likely stick with it, but I think it's not must see, if I miss and episode I'll live.
RepoMan 0 Report post Posted October 15, 2006 The first episode turned me off but the previews for this week have me interested.
Hoff 0 Report post Posted October 19, 2006 Apparently, not many people were excited for this week's episode. Or you all have lives, whatever. After a month of this, the show is wearing thin on me. We have these stereotypical characters, in contrived situations. It's like a sitcom, or maybe a bad teen drama. And outside of Stanley, I think it is...the farmer...and Skyler, not one of them can ACT to save themsevles. Skeet Ulrich and the hot teacher have their moments, but everyone else is just clearly playing a caricature of their character, which is only fair as that's how the characters are written. And yet it's the same formula that has worked for ages, and they know how to leave you hanging so you're just dying to find out what happened next. And it's like, I WANT to turn it off, and tell them to fuck off and hire better writers...but I CAN'T. It's maddening. So outside of all that, it'd be nice to know a little more. I think that'd open up more possibilities as opposed to spoiling the current ones. Case in point, tonight's episode, which ended with missiles being launched from near Jericho. So the US is fighting back. But who? Where? Even a character saying "the missiles are heading west" gives us a CLUE it might be Asia, but we don't even get that. It's just, "okay, we're at war, we knew that already." Give the loyal viewers a little reward. Enough to make them WANT to tune in, as opposed to feeling compelled. tommytomlin 0 Report post Posted October 19, 2006 I agree with Hoff, but I did feel this episode was the best of the series so far. The contrived action drama of the week (Library on fire) was mercifully short. It just seems like every week they throw major characters into situations you absolutely know they'll survive, and they try to milk it for tension but it just doesn't work. The best parts are the wider drama, (the missile launch was sweet, as was the almost-press conference) the freaky black guy, and the character stuff. If they stick to that, it's a good show. Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted October 19, 2006 We get it, Hawkins is a creepy bastard who knows things, hint hint hint hint...just spill something already. It's annoying
2GOLD 0 Report post Posted October 20, 2006 I'm starting to wish Gerald would just go all Major Dad and whip the town into a full fledged Marine Corp unit to storm Denver. Cause the show really feels like it starts to build to something and it just goes, "naah, we don't feel like it." Not to mention I want to kill every young person in the whole frickin town. KingPK 0 Report post Posted October 20, 2006 I compared this to Invasion when it debuted, and it seems to be going down the same road that led to that show's demise: the characters aren't all that interesting and the story, which is the show's strong point, is moving like molasses uphill. Plus, some of the characters are just plain unlikeable (the teens, Hawkins, the IRS lady)
KingPK 0 Report post Posted October 26, 2006 I think I'm officially done with this show. The story is going nowhere fast and I'm starting to hope a missile falls on the damn town already (particularly right on that IRS bitch's head).
Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted October 30, 2006 I'm having a hard time with the show too. Every episode ends with Town pulls together, Hawkins acts weird. enough hinting about things and tell something. That's why I gave up on Carnivale
Ginger Snaps 0 Report post Posted October 30, 2006 I don't know, I kind of like it. The pacing is bad, though, I agree that thngs are moving too slowly. They seem to want to be too much like Lost, with all of these "see! Mysterious things are going on!" plot elements happening. It's like they're trying to hard. But outside of that I think the show isn't too bad.
Banter 0 Report post Posted October 30, 2006 I'm with the majority here. Every episode follows the same pattern, and it not a good pattern to begin with. It doesn't help that the "action" reminds me of Walker Texas Ranger (the gun fights, Skeet's mom getting trampled) and the drama is on the same level as bad teenage coming of age shows with all the crappy music and relationship problems. As far as the characters go, I want to punch Peyton Manning's bearded brother in the nose. He's so fucking annoying, but then again so is everyone else. This show is such a bust. 2GOLD 0 Report post Posted October 30, 2006 The show wouldn't be so bad if the actors could, you know, act likable. No one is right now, it's a whole town of people you wouldn't mind seeing being exterminated in a ball of fire. That's bad. There should be more than 3 people in the town you kinda can handle. Maybe the show is trying to give the viewers that frustrated because you want to know whats goin on feeling like the people in the town. Which could work if you liked the characters but other than Major Dad, I'm not liking anyone anymore. Especially not the teenagers. Way things are going, Toby Keith is going to show up for no reason, sing a song and then drive off leaving us wondering what the hell that was all about. Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted October 30, 2006 And what's with the IRS thing? Seriously, the world is pretty much ended and dude's worried about his farm still. I understand that could be a real life problem, but to the viewer I think it's just annoying. He doesn't have to put up with the lady and there's really no reason for him to
2GOLD 0 Report post Posted October 30, 2006 This show should give a guest spot to Chris Jericho and NFL wide receiver Jericho Cotchery. As for the IRS thing, I have no idea and honestly she's starting to piss me the hell off. The guy should just kill her, bury her and no one will bat an eyelash. Least then something would have happened. I'm trying really hard to like this show but god damn, its just aggrivating seeing how much set-up they are putting into absolutely nothing. Guest Hotbutter Spoontoaster Report post Posted November 8, 2006 JERICHO TO BE PRESENTED IN TWO DISTINCT SEASONS WITH NO REPEATS. Jericho, CBS's hit freshman drama about the aftermath of a nuclear explosion in a small, peaceful Kansas town, will be broadcast without repeats for the remainder of the 2006-2007 season. The network announced today that it has devised a scheduling pattern to broadcast Jericho in two distinct seasons. Jericho will conclude its "fall season" with a cliffhanger finale on Wednesday, November 29th, and come back in February with all original episodes for the remainder of the season. Jericho will return on Wednesday, February 14th with a recap special looking back at the first 11 episodes, followed by an original episode on Wednesday, February 21st. The all-new episode on February 21st will provide a look into life in Jericho the day before the nuclear bombs exploded. To sustain audience momentum and update potential new viewers, CBS will create an online destination for Jericho during the show's 10-week intermission. The site will include original content, interactive elements, recaps and sneak previews. CBS will also continue to stream all episodes of Jericho broadcast to date on its broadband channel innertube. Currently, Jericho is the Network's most-streamed program on innertube. Jericho is averaging 11.08 million viewers, 3.4/10 in adults 18-49 and 4.5/12 in adults 25-54 and has boosted CBS's performance in the Wednesday, 8pm - 9pm time period by +50% in viewers, +42% in adults 18-49 and +50% in adults 25-54 compared to last year. In a related announcement, Kevin James, Leah Remini, and Jerry Stiller return with original episodes of The King of Queens in December. CBS will broadcast back-to-back new episodes of The King of Queens on Wednesday, December 6th, 8pm -9pm and Wednesday, December 13th, 8pm - 9pm. New episodes of The King of Queens will also be broadcast on Wednesday, December 20th at 8pm and Wednesday, December 27th at 8pm. Seven more episodes of The King of Queens to be broadcast in 2007 will be announced at a later date. CBS will also announce additional programming for the Wednesday (8pm - 9pm) time period at a later time.
RepoMan 0 Report post Posted November 8, 2006 I might just catch the re-cap in Febuary and decide if I want to start watching again or not.
Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2006 Ok, I watched last night, but missed the two weeks before...what happened?
Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted March 8, 2007 Why not... Boring as hell story last night on both ends. Still digging Hawkins story for the most part, but everything moving painfuilly slow
tommytomlin 0 Report post Posted March 10, 2007 Yeah, the show had picked up considerably in the two episodes before it, but the last episode was average. No real tension - you knew everyone would survive. Jericho really needs to kill off a major character, because right now, scenes where a townmember's life is in jeopardy just aren't interesting. KanadianKrusty 0 Report post Posted March 15, 2007 Well that was a hell of a step up from last week, quite a bit of suspense by Jericho standards. However someone's gonna have to die real soon as many others have stated previously. It's getting better, but not remotely close to it's full potential. Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted March 15, 2007 I don't know how they could take an idea so good, and slow play it to the point of complete boredom. For the most part anyway. Last night's episode was alright, but once again did nothing to push the storyline forward, except for Hawkins, but I'm even growing tired of the slooooow build there. And the IRS Lady/Farm Guy relationship is the most uninteresting love interest story in the history of tv
tommytomlin 0 Report post Posted March 18, 2007 Totally. The only decent bit about last night's ep was MayorDad proving to DickyMayor that he should be the guy leading Jericho. His slow, shadowy walk-off into the sunset wearing a cowboy hat sealed the deal.
Vigo 0 Report post Posted May 3, 2007 I don't know if people are still watching this show but you should know that Jericho's done a complete turnaround from the first half of the season. Since they came back from hiatus it's been some interesting television. It's definitely not the slow moving relationship based B.S. that the first half of the season was.
BlackFlagg 0 Report post Posted May 3, 2007 Indeed, has been some good stuff, especially tonight's ep, can't wait to see where the season finale goes
Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted May 4, 2007 The last 4 episodes or so have been kickass. It's a shame they slowplayed the first 3/4 of the season
KanadianKrusty 0 Report post Posted May 4, 2007 I agree, that show's really been picking up. The sheer bad-assery of Johnston Green alone makes it worth watching.
tommytomlin 0 Report post Posted May 5, 2007 I LOVE Mayor Dad. If he dies, I'm not watching this show ever again. And yes, the last ep of Jericho was probably one of the most entertaining they've produced. They're all about the slow build on this show, and it's finally paying some dividends. I loved Dicky Mayor realising he couldn't lead the town through this, and Mayor Dad shaking his hand to say 'Time's up, fuckbucket.'
Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted May 5, 2007 I never watched Major Dad, I still see Johnston as bastard George Hurst from Deadwood. I wish they would have started building Jericho vs New Bern longer and cut out a lot of the crap they had for filler earlier this season
Youth N Asia 0 Report post Posted May 10, 2007 Well damn, the best character is dead now... I heard they were going to run season two shortly after season one. Any idea when (if) it gets kickstarted again
tommytomlin 0 Report post Posted May 11, 2007 I LOVE Mayor Dad. If he dies, I'm not watching this show ever again. God damn it. Terrific cliffhanger, and the stuff with the FBI guy searching for the 'terrorist' in Jericho will provide some fun for Hawkins next season. I guess Jake and Eric will be taking charge of the town now, considering the flashbacks r.e their relationship. MayorDad's death was just so sad, coupled with the scene with KindergartenCopWife grieving over his body. Loved the shot of the 'updated' American flag too - freaky. Edit: Turns out .there mightn't be a second season. I've previously heard Jericho was renewed, but who knows.
